You know what would have made a great comeback film? Since this was supposed to be about Supes finding his place in this world that 'moved on without him', why not have him try to deal with things he can't stop ... have him try to stop terrorists, have him try to stop violence against women, have him try to stop a war. and fail at all of those things because those things require changing the human heart.

That would be him learning his limitations.

Not .. 'Oh, Gee ... Lois doesn't need me anymore .. boo hoo.'

That would suck so badly it isn't even worth mentioning again.

Well, i definately will be buying SR on DVD, and i cant wait for a Singer directed sequel.

That's all you keep sayin', kid.
You're blind to the truth.

I'm not blind to anything buddy, i just like something that you dont!

If done well that movie could redefine the CB movie genre. "Superman 4" tried to deal with that issues but ended up in a terrible waste of time & money.

If you place the story in the post-crisis with Luthor as Pres and Superman suddenly interfereing in his work, making himself the one who makes the rules and destroying all military bases worldwide. It could easily work with lesser action. Just the debates about "the need of war" or what would happen when other cultures had to take Supes as their leader (China, Iran, North Korea, and so on) would be juicy enough. Not to think about the changes for the economics worldwide.

It would definitely need a writer with a lot of experience in history and politics but it would finally lift the story more into the mature environment Superman lives in. The stupid love triangle crap is outdone, show something fresh and to actually think about.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. It would certainly be a movie for those of us that have outgrown Donner's film.

I actually would have liked Superman to come back and find out Luthor is entrenched deeper into society, running for president, or president. You give Superman that to deal with, along with the fact Luthor's campaign involves or involved tarnishing Superman's name because he left and turning the people against him. Lex is working with the miliatary and Star Labs on a secret project, maybe Metallo. Then you have Lois move on with Richard, but with no kid...could have worked.

The thing is, with Luthor being an ex-Con because of the events in Superman I and II, it would be impossible for him to ever run as president.

c'mon, do yo guy really believe that he has any idea to do the sequel?

Exactly, Lex would never even get the chance to be President in the movie world.

if superman can leave after banging a girl, if superman can have a kid & lois is a s.l.u.t in the movie, why can't lex be president in the movie?

What the **** do any of those have to do with Luthor becoming President. At least the things in SR COULD happen in the real world.

Come on. It's the movie world, you're trying to apply logic to that idea, but you really think that if Superman wasn't there to testify they would have let Lex go? Laughable.

Suspesion of disbelief right?

Haha, true but it's a little easier to believe that Lex got off considering that Superman was the only witness to his crimes.

It depends on how you look at it, wouldn't Superman have told them about Lex's underground lair? All the evidence is there.

You do realise i was talking about a man sleeping with a woman, leaving her, and then finding out she is pregnant dont you?

He may have left before he got the chance to tell them.

But we know that that was not the case because SR takes place after the second movie. There's no reason why Superman couldn't've told the authorities about the underground lair and the evidence within, considering that it was all from the first movie.

Right there is alot of maybes, just depends on your perception, but movies can always be better...it is no exception with Returns.
