Burton's interview on the Batman Forever special edition disc is great. Burton wanted to do another film, but then spoke with the WB execs and they explained what they wanted to happen next with the franchise and Burton's response, and I'm paraphrasing, "You really don't want me to do this film do you." :funny:

But I'm glad to hear Singer's next directorial project will have nothing to do with Superman.

Sequel my a$$!! REBOOT for Christ Sake!!! There is a GOD! Singer isn't comming back! YAY!! Bring the champagne!

I have nothing against him as a director of thrillers and all. Just stay away of Superman.

It really came down to this. Burton and Singer weren't willing to play ball with the studio and make concessions on their sequel(s).

If they obliged to what WB wanted and/or met them half-way, they'd have directed the next films.

We've known for a long time that Singer was out.

Now let's hope for a Routhboot to happen and I will be happy.

My only concern now is, how long do we wait for the next film?

Talked to Jamie about this whole situation this morning and last night, not to mention every phone call we have...we talk about it. I think Jamie kind of nailed it.

They were waiting for Bryan to "officially" come out and say he is moving on or "officially" make the move. Looks like that move has been made with The Prisoners. Coincidentally, The Prisoners is with Warner Bros. Gives WB a chance to announce Singer is taking on the project and "officially" talk about Superman while saying Bryan is no longer on the project.

We think this news along with the news that Horn finally has a contract will finally bring forth some kind of studio remarks regarding Superman. Whether this is a reboot, a requel, reorigin...no idea. I don't think this puts Superman in development hell though, quite the opposite. Clears the way for them to move and not be so foggy about it.

We already knew Bosworth, Spacey, Harris and Dougherty are out.

So if Bryan Singer is out, does that mean his whole crew is off this project as well?

Thank God. I don't think I could've taken another few months without news.

I do hope things do become more clear soon on what wb wants to do with supes and is it reboot(i hope), requel, sequel, routhboot... After 3 yrs i am sick of all the flip floping in news i would love for once to have solid news.

btw, how is his & tom cruise's movie doing? is it a success?

Some interesting comments from Bryan Singer on "fanboys".

http://adage.com/madisonandvine/article?article_id=135888

Look, I am a big Trekkie. Without wanting to alienate the core fan base myself, I'll say it's a group you want to have close and be open to at all times. But if you make a good movie that's entertaining, a lot of hard-core fans will see the movie anyway. That audience will still appreciate it.

I don't want to take any importance away from the fanboys, but it's about making a good movie and then marketing the hell out of it. If you do that, the fans will come up to meet you.

I would say it's a success considering it's almost at $200 million worldwide. For this kind of film, that's pretty good.

Basically that's Singer's way of saying nicely that fanboys take things a little too seriously and can be a little nuts
Or that you can't bank on only the fanboys to make your movie a financial success?

Interesting. Does that mean then that Singer didnt please the G.P. either?:hoboj:
