Apparently it's a real bark up the butt for certain posters to have to read persistent negative opinions about anything related to this movie .... so here we go .... anything you don't like about the movie, feel free to voice it in this thread.

Some people complain about negative comments, and some people complain about positive ones as well - "sheep", "low standards", "will love anything", etc. If that´s the case, there should be two threads, a positive and a negative one, or one just for reactions, whatever they are.

I don't know about that. I think people have a right to feel that there are just some parts of the movie that could be done better. I for one am still hoping for a more classic Hollywood feel more than Indiana Jones.

I'm also a little peeved that Bucky has a reduced role and that nazis have been less emphasised than Hydra.

people don't like rain on their parade.

Captain America would say, "Freedom of speech is what counts." :cwink:

this is kinda beside the point, but how much more classic Hollywood can you get than Indiana Jones?

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I don't really like Captain America's suit.

I've voiced my displeasure with it. For me it's just too much to look at and too darned bulky ..... It doesn't lend anything to what's supposed to be an agile/swift image. I've seen it reiterating many times that it was necessary to do this because of the time period, but I'm still not buying that argument.

There are too many other elements about the movie (Red Skull, Hydra, Cosmic Cube, etc) that are anything but realistic so a Captain America suit that was more loyal to the original design wouldn't have gotten written off so easily. The most important thing is the character Steve Rogers. If the audience buys into him and his plight than they could be far more accepting of his garb if they decided to not get so literal with it and the era.

I also feel as though they're kind of taking away from Cap's abilities by giving him so much protection.

The costume could be a ton better, and Bucky not being in costume is lame. It feels to me that Johnston is ashamed of doing a film based on comics. The USO angle, as I have often said, is insulting to Simon and Kirby.

Those are my issues with the movie. Still, it IS a period piece, Evans should be a great Cap, the Red Skull looks amazing, and the freaking Cosmic Cube is in the movie. There is more good than bad in the film, IMHO.

I'm pretty sure that this thread won't last too long.

Just to add to that, I remember Hellboy being a huge bright red guy and fighting some nazi looking dude. Nobody I know disliked the Hellboy costume and makeup. I mean, jeez, look at the Red Skull! He's WAY more fantastical looking than a guy in a flag suit and they left the skull's look pretty much intact.

Just irritates the hell out of me.

you think maybe the reason Bucky isn't featured prominently is because there wouldn't really be any time to develop his character? I mean look at all the character development that's going to have to happen any way.... CA, Steve, Red Skull... THEN all the ties to the Avengers.

Regarding Hellboy and Skull, that's more their features than costuming.
There was also a superhero with costume present in Hellboy's WW2 comic origin. Shame we didn't get to see that costume on screen. ( I really woulda thought it kinda cool to see him in that photo of Broom and Co. With baby HB)

Not loving the suit. I wish there were a better choice of director. And I may be the only one on this issue but I'm disappointed that the period piece Captain America is only lasting one movie just so they can get him into the Avengers as soon as possible. I probably would have been ok with it if they were just focusing on Cap but with Bucky, Namor, the Invaders, and Marvel's take on WWII I really wish they focus more on WWII. It would be an awesome trilogy of movies especially with Cap's WWII villians.

Features still have to be translated from page to screen. The directors could have chosen to 'tone down' their features but they didn't.

They DID choose to **** with Cap's outfit, though. Not cool.

I know it man. Hell Boy is a great example.

the movie looks great so far. my only issue woud be the casting of that matrix dude as red skull. I wish they would have cast someone who is able to act at least a little bit.

I still think they chose poorly for cap.
He may be an OK actor, but he looks nothing like cap.

Agreed. I'm not buying that realism argument either. I was browsing through the costume thread the other day and was surprised to see a lot people were the happy the wings were absent from the helmet. It apparently would look too goofy. Give me a break. His whole costume looks goofy, IMO. If audiences can buy a man with a red skull then they shouldn't have a problem with tiny wings on a helmet.

red skull does not look goofy and from what i hear his make up is great

big white wings hanging off a dudes head is goofy
