First Avenger The "OFFICIAL" CA:TFA Negative Reaction Thread

the movie looks great so far. my only issue woud be the casting of that matrix dude as red skull. I wish they would have cast someone who is able to act at least a little bit.

What? This guy?

:oldrazz:

I wonder if they will get rid of batmans horns nextn or daredevils maybe.

you think maybe the reason Bucky isn't featured prominently is because there wouldn't really be any time to develop his character? I mean look at all the character development that's going to have to happen any way.... CA, Steve, Red Skull... THEN all the ties to the Avengers.

Good point.

I have to say, I don't read the Captain America comics, but what is with this hard on everyone has for Bucky????

If I'm going to see a Captain America movie...I want to see Captain America, not some other guy that's a "buddy" of his.

this is kinda beside the point, but how much more classic Hollywood can you get than Indiana Jones?

The Indiana Jones films were made in the '80s. I'm talking classic Hollywood feel here like the Golden Age of Hollywood.

I'm not thrilled about Bucky chewing up screentime either.

The "USO" device still troubles me.

in what sense? i mean, that's a pretty specific style of filmmaking, and especially acting. to what degree would you want to see that applied to cap?

I really am getting a "meh" feeling about this movie. This is coming from someone that loves the Marvel universe and actually was anticipating it.

Posted this in another thread, but it seemed fitting here too.

It looks to be really good so far. The only thing that bothers me is that I'm fearing Marvel will ignore the actual history of the Nazi's being the evil of WWII and will replace it with Hydra. Red Skull is suppose to be a Nazi, Captain America went out to fight Nazi spies on the Homeland, let's hope the reality of the war isn't forgetten and totally replaced with fantasy.

We already know they aren't replacing the Nazis with Hydra. There's an picture of Weaving where he's vaporizing a few Nazi's that were sent to confiscate his equipment.
Along with the fact Nazis have already been mentioned in these movies. In IM1 Stark says to the reporter something to the effect of "My father helped defeat the Nazis."

ok, i hope so. I have yet to see a nazi symbol in any screen shot yet. Red Skull has the Hydra symbol on, but no Nazi symbol.. he was a Nazi, one of Hitler's right hand men. I love the new Cartoon, Avengers: EMH, it's absolutely fantastic, except for the fact that Nazi's were never once mentioned in the origin capt episodes... the symbol was never even shown. It's like they're affraid to acknowledge the reality of the time, and I hope the movie gives Capt America more just than that.

I don't love the costume, but it's fine. I really wish they had kept actual wings on the thing, tough. Not any major complaints besides that....So far.

I do not understand the question. Could you rephrase it?

When they said Marvel would make a Captain America movie, I thought that it would be the one, 'cause Iron Man seemed to set a new standard, and it was the direct result of Marvel's take on movies.

But then the first rumours and news started: everything I saw gave me this bad mojo. And it is the same "I have a bad feeling about this" kinda thing I had about Watchmen, The Spirit and other sad experiences of filmmaking.

And it was quite different with Iron Man, Hellboy and others, in which I knew things were going well and would be fine. I feel Thor will be a very good movie, and will join those ones we remember with pleasure and can watch again.

Captain America, I think, is going to be the first serious mistake by Marvel. Sadly.

To the extent that they will be Cap's adversaries...they are being replaced by HYDRA.

And that is a major mistake... Captain America is who he is because he was a hero born during a very real war with a very real evil enemy, and that can't be forgotten or replaced.

Yep, very true in broad, general lines, but also deceiving: bear in mind reality (in the full sense of the word) is not only more complicated, but also very frustrating when someone is looking for such a clean, pure thing as a hero.

deceiving? No deception at all. And no, it's not broad and general. Nazi's were the evil enemy that Captain America fought, nothing broad, general, or deceptive about that. Captain America, is America's pure Hero, nothing broad, general, or deceptive about that either.

I think Cap will still be facing Nazis. The bulk of the film is probably his missions against Hydra and skull. I could always stand to see a little more Nazi a$$kickery tho. :)

The weird part is I read that Hydra will be based in [BLACKOUT]France[/BLACKOUT]

Well, if Inglorious Basterds taught us anything, it's that that place is a good location to plan your eventual promotion from the Nazi Party.
