The Official Contest of Marvels 3 Discussion Thread

Aren't you excited when we finally face off in Round 2!!!

Anyway, I apologize if my comments upset you. I do have my viewpoint of Maxam, but I did not have that be what made me decide to vote for Forge. As I've pointed out season after season, I don't see Forge as being the guy who's the Extreme McGyver.

Infinity Crusade issue 5, long before he had the Mind Gem. Actually he only had the mind Gem for a short while which was at his last few appearances. Actually even after he lost the mind gem he still desired to kill Warlock because it was his mission.

Sorry I am having a bad day, and I didn't take it personal. I am not mad at you, it is Friday to a longggggg week....

Here are the next set of locations:

13) Empire State University
14) Danger Room (Removed)
15) Alcatraz
16) Muir Island

Danger Room is being removed, as we decided it was linked with the X-Mansion and didn't need to be repeated.

I'm sorry, I edited my post. I am just having a hard time with things lately.

Location: Empire State University

This location is occupied by faculty, students, workers, and any other type of person who'd normally be on campus. This is nighttime; but, remember that most Universities are well-lit; so, I expect this would be the case with ESU.

Thanks Powder. That makes me feel much, much better.

Anyway, let's change the subject somewhat, and ask everyone what they think of leaving comments.

Should we just have voting be voting from now on, with no comments left until voting is over? I'm for it, but if people feel strongly about it, I am fine with doing away with it.

I'll throw out again a request from earlier today:

So far on Thread 1, we need to define the two characters "Magik" and "Captain Marvel." Last season, I know we defined Cap, but can't remember what we said about him. I take it it's the version last seen in Thunderbolts. For Magik, is it the most recent, from the mini series?

Also, if anyone can find information about Pilgrimm, I didn't have any luck. Or, if anyone knows what series of comics he's from, I might have an easier time of finding him. (I might even have his name misspelled...I've come across that each week, like how this week Daimon Hellstrom wasn't Damien Hellstrom.)

Did I even spell "misspelled" correctly?

That's it.

This weekend we're all going out to get drunk and then get laid. Or get laid, and then get drunk. Or just get laid.

Laying definitely has to be in there somewhere. :p

I think you are on to something. Hopefully my wife won't mind me going out to get laid. :)

No talking about getting laid!!! That's just not in my vocabulary any longer...sob, sob. And, sheesh, I don't think I've gotten drunk in ages.

I am going to see the two new movies that came out today. My boy and I will see "Drag Me To Hell" tonight. I've heard good things about it...the only complaint is that it's PG-13. But, with Sam Rami at the helm, ya can't go wrong, right? (Oh GOD, Spider-Man 3 still haunts me, with evil Peter Parker doing that stupid dancing!!!) Then, tomorrow, I'll take both kids to see UP in 3D.

Thanks for the link, Powder. I found a picture with the Lilin on the cover of Ghost Rider (vol. 3) #31, but just have to figure out which character is Pilgrim. I'm sure that Pilgrim is in my Official Handbook Horror comic, though.

I am for leaving comments, and think it is only fair that debaters can reply to them IF the comment is felt to be blatantly inaccurate (Then and only then).

I think keeping such comments to a minimum is good since debating is supposed to be done, but should be allowed under rare circumstances. This case is a good one. I've read a fair amount of Maxam appearances and I happen to agree that characterizing him as "child-like" was blatantly inaccurate, and to deny the right to rebut such an inaccurate statement isn't right.

Invite her along. :D

(This is where the drinking part comes in ;))

I'm glad to see you've finally mentioned someone other than just you and Powder in all this 'gettin' laid' talk.

And if it helps, you can have my wife too. Teach her some good tricks to bring home.

Actually, THIS is the Pilgrimm intended for the tourney.

Thanks! The thread has been updated with the new character's link.

Now, what about Magik. Is she the most recent appearance from the miniseries?

And, is Captain Marvel, Genis, the one who dies in Thunderbolts?

I like the policy of not commenting at all while voting. I don't because no one should be reading my votes anyway. I think the comments can sometimes sway votes.

As far as Genis, yeah, I think that was his version... so most recent works.

As for Magik, are you refering to the Inferno mini series? I thought that was after December?

Yes, I am very interested in which version of Magik this is since she's my character, and I haven't kept up with her history.

Oh yeah, the mini just ended, like, a month ago.

So the previous appearance would be the most recent. So that'd be the little small story in the "X-Men: Manifest Destiny" mini... and before that the Limbo arc in "New X-Men".

Ok, so this is Magik, who is ruler of Belasco's Limbo. And, Genis right before his death in Thunderbolts.

As for remarks, I will put forward the new ruling that no remarks until after voting is complete, if that's approved by JH and Wiegeabo.

I actually like people remarking on their votes, but they do need to be mindful of what they type.

Maybe just more detail is needed in the ruling... like comments are okay but nothing that adds to the debate. You can comment basic stuff or on the debate itself. Don't add or take away... that's the opponant's job.

That's my thoughts anyhow. I think most people won't bother typing out reasons after voting's done and it's nice to get feedback from other posters on how you did.

However, if W is for no remarks, then I'll go with it.

I actually like JH's idea. You can comment on what has been brought up in the debate but nothing on anything that was not brought up during the debate since that was the debater's responsibility.

What a great day! We saw UP in 3D today...Fantastic, fantastic movie. Wall-E is still better; but, not by much. It really felt this movie was more designed for us older viewers. I have to say RUN, don't walk, and see UP.

Also, Drag Me To Hell...what a fun ride! It's corny...campy...just like Evil Dead; but, DAMN, you sure jump a few times. And, even though it's PG-13, I didn't mind. Sam Rami does a fantastic job.

So far, worst summer movie is turning out to be Angels and Demons...and, even that one was so bad.
