Good to see the Jose Luis Garcia Lopez love on here - his Kenner Super Powers work to me produced some of the most iconic images of the DC heroes ever committed to print but the DC Comics Style Guide of 1982 is about as gorgeous as it gets.

I'd have to agree, the design is great, not crazy about tone of the blue or the yellow, but otherwise very strong.

i like almost everything about that design EXCEPT for the blue sticking out over the red. it makes for a robotic look. it also indicates that it's a thick material, which i'm totally against. not even gonna critique the boots since they weren't really designed, hehe. other than the blue sticking out, it's another solid design Strib.

IMO, it would be better if the blue weren't jutted out, and the trunks were not so angular

Awesome design, but looks rubbery/armour-like like the Batman Begins suit which, to me, is completely wrong for Superman. He needs doesn't need protection from anything. And the random lines/seams drive me nuts. Not just here, but on any design that has them.

But things like the neck line, cape and cape attachment, colours, s-shield size and design, even the "trunks" are perfection.

I'd LOVE to see a no-rubber version!

the Earth One suit looks generic and uninspired. Strib's design (sans the boots and the blue overlapping the red) is infinitely more aesthetically pleasing.

Great work again Strib. I like the idea of the blue being on top of the red. But it does give a padded/bulky impression. After all, all that is meant to go under a business suit.

And red underwear doesn't look silly? The problem with a lot of classic costume fans is that they always expect red underwear, so they can't really judge different designs with fresh eyes.

New Superman Costume Revealed?

Could this be the Man of Steel's costume in Zack Snyder's new take on the Superman? It is according to a report posted today over at the Superman Homepage.
Claimed to be designed by Spider-Man's James Acheson, Snyder is quoted as saying, "We felt that Superman needed to step away from the old circus strong man, red underwear on the outside, flowing cape design that was looking very dated by today's superhero movie standard. The design James [Acheson] created will once again put Superman at the forefront of superheroes worldwide."
