Burton would have destroyed superman

Ex. Willy wonka - planets of the apes - Alice in wonderland

Last Burton film I honestly liked was sleepy hollow, all his new stuff sucks. Why does he insist on shoving Helena bonam Carter down our throats

I think my disappointment started with planet/apes. I went with my dad to see it at the famous ziegfeld theater thinking it was going to be great

Fleischer's Superman is great, but those colors won't work man! We had similar colors in Superman Returns and that suit was terrible.

No we didn't have similar colors. There was no black on the logo nor was the belt black. I would absolutly love that uniform on film, still my favorite of all of his with the Kingdom Come uniform being second. I just love the little touches of black rather than yellow or gold.

I think the purple-ish blue is pretty cool. Combined with the red it suggests the colors of royalty. Interesting.

If the new costume has the "S" on the back of the cape, I would like it to have a red background (like an inverse of the "S" on his chest), to provide contrast and definition without the outlines. Any thoughts?

I have to say that I am not entirely opposed to the idea itself of the costume being redesigned. If we are going to overhaul it from the ground-up, let's make it fit its origin in the film. If it's from Krypton, make it look more alien or at least unusual, maybe with gold instead of yellow and with alien symbols in some places, for example.

I like this even more.

I for one never saw any similarities between Fleischer's Superman and Singer's, other than both being a recognizable Superman.

The red \S/ on a yellow background for the cape decoration is the design used on George Reeves' costume and what I prefer.

Curious, do you guys think we'll get an "S" on the cape this time around? I guess it would be okay if it didn't have it, but I still want there to be one. It's one of the few really unique aspects of Superman's costume.

Well,I'm talking the overall design but in the restored version the colors looked pretty good

I just never have really bought into the love of the Fleischer design. It's not that different from the current design besides the S logo and the brown belt. And personally I prefer the traditional S, I find it to be a better design.

It seems a little bland to me. It's a bunch of blue with a red S-shield and cape. I think that some yellow/gold on the background on the shield and maybe the belt/waistband, with red boots would help that a lot. Maybe even add the red trunks too, with a lot of small details to catch the eye. Can anyone make a photo manip of that?

I think that the black touches you are describing depends upon the shade of red being used. If the red is too dark, then it may blend in to the black background.

It is well known that Singer loved the Fleischer cartoons and did base the color scheme on the dark red and medium blue of the suit from the Fleischer cartoons. They weren't exactly alike, but there was a definite influence to be sure.

This symbol, sans the black outlines, is the one I would choose.
