"Does he wear a skintight ballet suit? No, not today, and I don't think anyone falls for it," Morrison says. "And if the skintight ballet suit has to come into it, I want to have a really good explanation.

Oh man...

you do realize if this fails then superman is pretty much done as DC/WB may have little reason to attempt to resolve their case, or just drag it out over many years. I cant understand why a fan would want that, in the sports world i call that a bandwagon fan, stick around for the good times, and abandon ship when it gets rough. as a fan i hope it succeeds considering i care more about the character than just his stupid clothing or whether he wears his underwear outside his pants. How about reading the story before you decide whether their decision was stupid, for all we know that jeans look may last very little, spiderman had a temporary suit before he made the jump to his final costume. In the end the story is what is going to matter the most to me. Maybe you just get them for the pictures.

I read people's comments about superman's look in flashpoint. They start jumping to conclusions thinking thats what hes going to look like forever before even reading what was happening and why it made sense that he looked the way he did.

i have my reservations that this one will not do much better than superman returns did. im not a fan of them over redoing the suit either.

Tell me why does it have to look like a ballet suit to be a skin tight suit? An easy explanation would be that the clothing fibers are much more powerful than the ones here on Earth.

I didn't say it, the writer of All Star Superman did.

That's exactly what im criticizing. And people still praise this guy...

All-Star was a fluke. His other Superman stories sucked.

One of the most revered Superman stories of all time is a result of a...fluke? That's not how it works.

Well, it seems everyone at DC agrees with him, since they're going all out with this relaunch...

I'm still nauseated by the sight of that ****** suit Lee has designed, but I was shocked when I read the news today about Superman's characterization, supporting cast, and situation in the post-Flashpoint DCU.

It's everything I hoped for. It seems as if DC finally said to Morrison, "Hey, go ahead and use parts of that proposal we **** on years ago, go for it."

If only the suit hadn't been so radically and poorly changed, i.e, not changed at all, then this reboot would be a dream come true. The depth and characterization that Superman has lacked since Byrne is finally back, but he suit is crap.

Hopefully, it will change back to the classic.

Wait...

That Superman picture of him in a T-shirt, jeans, boots and that short cape...is real?

:lmao: :lmao:

Wtf?! Who thought that was a good idea? I can understand people changing something when the redesign at least LOOKS COOL. This doesn't even look cool, it looks dumb and unnecessary.

That ceremonial armor thing makes sense, and, flame me if need be, looks kinda cool. It isn't as good as the original, naturally. I have a feeling that Snyder might take that ceremonial armor idea. Especially since David Goyer is the writer...

i love morrison. he is easily one of the all time greatest comic book writers ever. the dude is crazy brilliant. all star superman is one of the best superman stories ever. and im not even necessarily opposed to how he's approaching supermans early years. but belittling the suit as a "skintight ballet suit" is just stupid.

Being a fan IS NO excuse to accept terrible stories, countless pointless reboots and, specifically, stupid costume changes. I will support and pay for what i think its worth my money.

I want THIS Superman costume to fail because the classic Superman costume is the one that has been around for 70+ years and DID NOT NEED ANY CHANGE.

Exactly!
The nerve of some people who think Superman is more than just a costume!
Who do they think they are?!?
If he's not wearing the traditional costume, then he can't be Superman, because the real deal is the suit and not the man inside.

How's this.

We know (fact, not our assumptions) that the new Superman armor is inspired by traditional Kryptonian ceremonial garb.
Assuming, Cavill is wearing it (which I think a strong possibility),
why not...

Open the movie with Russell Crowe/ Jor-El wearing the Superman armor in battle with General Zod.
Jor El beats the crap out of Zod almost killing him (I'm sorry, Crowe vs. Shannon is too good an opportunity for Snyder to pass on IMO)
Clark wears the armor in honor of Jor El and his Kryptonian heritage.
Wouldn't it be cool? Crowe is the armor fighting Zod?

No thanks to Crowe vs Zod.

Would be neat if the Kryptonians battling Zod on Krypton were wearing the suit though?

Sort of being a uniform for what Kryptonians in a high authority would wear.

If the film follows the line of thinking with the comics relaunch, I could very easily see them take another little cue from Birthright. Instead of Clark's outfit being inspired by the multitude of Kryptonian images he sees in the history box his parents sent with him, he models his uniform after one Kryptonian outfit in particular. Maybe it's a solider, a protector, a law enforcement officer.

If they went with this type of scenario, though, I'd hope they'd not have the suit just sent with Clark to Earth.

Exactly!
But imagine Jor El no longer being just a scientist but one of Krypton's greatest warriors, perhaps a general?
Imagine Jor El wearing the Superman Ceremonial Armor leading an army of similar garbed Kryptonians against General Zod and his forces.
It would be like the opening of Gladiator. Or like something out of the 300.
Hey wait!
Zack Snyder is involved!
They can do something like this.
Fact= Russell Crowe is working out hard for this role.
Question=why?
I don't think he needs to be so fit if he is just going to stand around like Brando did. I think he is going to be a Jor El of the kind we've never seen before.
hmmm..... I just think five minutes of Crowe in the armor fighting Zod would be awesome...and never seen before..
It's Russell Crowe, damn it!
He has to lead a battle and fight someone!

It may not be the most tactful of descriptions, but what is so stupid about it? Tights are exactly how they're drawn. People are free to like it, but those opposed stating what it is and making a fair (albeit harshly toned) comparison is perfectly valid.

I think that the idea of Jor-El being a warrior type of character is just horrible honestly.

Yeah... Despite Zod and a handful of other Kryptonians, I'd like to believe the Kyptonians kinda' evolved past warfare. Their undoing was arrogance and failure to act, not war.

Then what is a General there for, to sell hotdogs? ;)

I think Grant's a brilliant writer and I agree with most of these changes except the costume change. But All-Star Superman, great as it is, is just Edmond Hamilton's "The Last Days of Superman!" updated. It's the exact same story: Superman is dying and carries out a bucket list of good deeds for humanity:
