ugh...trading in for Chrono Trigger DS, it is. Too bad, it seems like an amazing game.

Its is dude, just get you a nice shotgun and those bugs will be NO problem. You cant trade this in for Chrono Trigger DS, the game gods may very well strike you down.

Tis a risk I'll have to take. I'm a complete arachniphobe :csad:

It's a great game, but I somewhat understand how you feel. I have a HUGE fear of cockroaches so when I saw the first Ratroach in the game and I had goosebumbs and felt kinda sick, but then I got over it (for the game that is) and it became fun shooting them any time I saw them. :woot:

haha yea im with you guys altho, i have no fear of roaches or ants or other bugs, i just HATE them, plus there are many more things to be worried about in the wasteland than giant bugs.

PS. its radroach

A buddy of mine was watching me play, and the first time I encountered a Bloatfly we started cracking up for some reason.

Haha, thanks for the correction. :o

Sweet jesus I love this game. Just wanted to bring that point home again.:o

Will Fawkes get me killed if I go back into Megaton, or the Citadel, etc?

Well, I finally found Dogmeat. My first companion in this game. It was pretty great until he died like ten minutes later.:cmad:

I know you can hire Jericho if your karma is bad enough, but have any of you guys run into any other party members?

Lmao, I heard Dogmeat was extremely tough to kill, that you should be able to keep him alive through the entire game.

Either that was wrong or you sent pooch into hardcore enemy territory :(

He is pretty tough but sustained fire from some of the more powerful monsters will take him down.

Now Fawkes. That guy is invincible.

Actually just after I found him we wondered into what I think must be one of the larger raider camps in the game. I did my thing, Dogmeat did his. After I was finished, I went looking for him and what I found was like five guys wailing on him with various blunt objects. Probably two seconds later he collapsed and I got the message "Dogmeat has died" or something like that.

Some chick that is a member of the Brotherhood of Steel is able to join you're party.

I gotta find Fawkes.

And yeah, Dogmeat is pretty tough. His problem is that he's so headstrong and wants to fight everything and anything. I've told him to wait for me infront of 101, but once I was getting owned by a group of super mutants, he returned to help me out. I mean...it's pretty cool to have a loyal dog who will divert some fire.

Can you resolve the missing kids thing in Rivet City? CJ Young sometimes runs by a group of people but when I talk to NPCs they still ask if I've seen her.

This game is badass, having a great time so far although travelling to the GNR outpost and those ****ing super mutants are tough. Its a good thing I have Jericho with me.

I was feeling depressed about how Bethesda decided to cut me out from buying the downloadable expansions for this game, so I went looking online for some kind of closure... And apparently, when Bethesda's head of marketing got kind of *****ey when he was asked about why it won't be on PS3.

"...We aren’t going to get into the details of the hows and whys. [DLC] will be exclusive for PC and 360. [We're] not going to give any other qualifiers or clarifications as it relates to other platforms."

So basically, they're saying "We don't even owe you an excuse for why we're effing over PS3 users. We're doing it because we can, so don't ask any questions about it." The common speculation is that MS paid them off to specifically give PS3 the shaft, but whatever the case I think it's total BS that out of all three versions, the PS3 one seems to be the only one that Bethesda is taking a dump on. I love this game just as much as an Xbox 360 owner does, so why is my version the only one that won't get any downloadable content? It's bad enough that the PS3 version of this game is so friggin' buggy (I mean come on, I can't even give my character an in-game haircut without blindly guessing!), but did they really have to cut us out from the DLC too? Shame on you Bethesda, for selling out to Microsoft so blatantly and not even admitting to it.

I know online petitions don't really work, but signing the "bring Fallout 3 DLC to PS3" petition kind of helped settle my nerves. It's probably not going to do much, but the way I see it, at least signing it helps invalidate any "lack of customer interest" excuse that Bethesda's PR staff might try to spin out.

If the court of public opinion finds Bethesda guilty of foul play, then hopefully being publicly shamed for taking MS's money will discourage developers from trying to pull stunts like this in the future. I guess there's only so far that it can go since I already gave Bethesda my money when I bought the game, but that does not mean I deserve to be treated as anything less than a first-class customer.

I'm not a fan of downloadable content unless it's substantial enough to be a full expansion. The stuff they done with Oblivion was nothing short of a joke imo. My brother actually payed for the crap, stuff people could mod'd for free of charge. Horse Armour, a wizards tower, a keep, it was ridiculous. Games for windows will probably fail miserably, just like before, firstly, there attempt at getting people to pay for it was laughable when steam was pretty much superior...and free, trying to use DLC as a strong point will not work. Steam or more specifically valve, release constant updates, maps and features for FREE. It's like the stunt they try'd to pull with Halo 2 making it Vista only thinking pc users would all clamber over to that OS because of an overhyped xbox game (That didn't even utilize Dx10 I believe). Or with Crysis, which could and can be maxed out in dx9, Microsoft must have had some sort of contract with Crytek to make the "Very High" setting only available on Vista with the mostly useless dx10 as the "very high" option was disabled in XP (but can be easily changed in the config file), very lame. Microsoft is a shark.

It was the money. Microsoft paid crazy high for the exclusives.

Same with GTA IV.

Nobody wants to admit it because it'll make them look like greedy bastards.

The horse armor in Oblivion was a lame ripoff, I agree (it never showed up in the PS3 version, though). However, I don't mind the idea of releasing a new quest for a few dollars every now and then. I suppose that Shivering Isles doesn't count because it's more of a full expansion, but even so, Knights of the Nine was a pretty kick ass quest, and if that's what Oblivion's DLC is going to be offer I'd certainly want in on it. I mean come on, I want to join the Brotherhood of Steel too, but Bethesda says "No, you're a PS3 user, so you aren't cool enough to get anything but the main game." It's like, why'd they even bother releasing it on PS3 if they're not going to support their own product? :cmad:

Other than that, I definitely agree. Microsoft always resorts to shark-like payouts whenever they're afraid of losing something. They're losing with Windows Live to Steam, so they start paying developers to run games through Windows Live to inflate its userbase. They're losing ground to PS3 in the console war, so they pay developers to stop putting out downloadable content for it. When is this nonsense going to end?

Microsoft paid them for some exclusive content, and Bethesda is giving them what they paid for. It's not greed, it's just business. Don't take it personally.

If Sony wanted some extra stuff they should have paid for it.

P.S. Sony is doing the same kind of **** during the current generation and did it the last generation as well, so don't make it out like Microsoft is the only big evil corporation in the gaming industry.

This isn't like with GTAIV though. With GTAIV, Microsoft paid Rockstar to ONLY publish the exclusive content on Xbox 360. With Fallout 3 though, Microsoft specifically paid Bethesda NOT to publish it on PS3, because the content is coming to the PC version as well. Microsoft wants to bar PS3 users from accessing the data, but they have no problem with PC gamers getting in on it. Business or not, it is simply not fair that people who bought the PS3 version were specifically targeted by MS's attacks. Moves like this do not make the Xbox 360 look like a more attractive console to me, it only makes MS look like a nastier company. Sony ain't exactly a saint, but lately MS has been the one hitting below the belt: namely, they're trying to weaken the experience of PS3 customers by damaging the viability of Sony's online service. MS should not be paying to make PSN worse if they want to win, because that just shows that they don't think that Xbox Live is better enough to keep its edge.

Here's a letter I wrote to Bethesda, just in case anyone wants to see it.

Before I begin my e-mail, I would like to say that I greatly love Fallout 3 and I am very glad that I bought it, and it's rapidly become one of my favorite games of the year. Having said that, I am disappointed that you have opted to exclude people like me from receiving any future content expansions for the game. You have offered no official explanation as to why people who own the PS3 version will be the only ones who will not have access to the downloadable content, but to be frank I am not here to ask for a justification or excuse, because I don't want one. I'm writing this to let you know how disappointed I am, and how I think that this decision does not give a good public image to either your company or the game itself.

As much as I love the game, it has a lot of bugs that have greatly frustrated me. Just the other day I was trying to modify my character's in-game appearance using a plastic surgeon character, but I couldn't even see what I was doing since the preview of my character's new look only showed his lap. I trust that you will fix problems like this with future patches, but the fact that you shipped the PS3 version with significantly more bugs than the other two versions, combined with the fact that it is the ONLY version that will not have downloadable expansions, almost makes me feel like "why did you even bother putting it on PS3?"

I love the game just as much as anyone who owns it on PC or Xbox 360, and want to buy the upcoming expansions just as badly, so why do I get treated like a second-class customer? I know that solving problems like this almost always involves money, but the fact of the matter is that we bought the game at the same price as PC and Xbox 360 customers, and I don't think it's unfair for us to expect to have just as good of an experience. No matter how anyone tries to sugar coat it, things the Broken Steel quest are going to be very significant additions to the game experience, and I will not be able to experience them simply because I "bought the wrong system."

I know that one e-mail over the internet is probably not going to change the direction of a machine that's already in motion, but I really wanted you to know, as a fan of your game, how disappointed I am at not being treated to the same quality of long-term product support as everyone else. Ultimately, through your decision you are asking me to accept having an inferior experience, even though my money should be just as good as that of someone who is playing the game on their Xbox 360 or computer. It's true that I was never promised any future content expansions for my version of the game, but even so, if you are going to put your company's name and the Fallout brand on this game's box, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect you to give us the very best experience possible, and you are failing to do that with the PS3 version of the game.
