Deathclaws freak me the hell out too, but there is nothing more awesome than rolling three deep with Charon and Dogmeat. I'm doing that with my new "balanced" character (she has 40-48 in every skill), it's awesome to see tag team VATS kills. Took me hours to see Dogmeat finish off someone in VATS, but it took Charon only half an hour. I haven't made the dartgun again yet, but I went to the Deathclaw Sanctuary at lvl5 and just just used the two Fatman shots for 2 deathclaws. Haven't used it again since, even though I have 7 mininukes.
Speaking of the Fatman, I did the GNR mission this time, and that Behemoth battle was ****ING CRAZY. So sad that an early quest had a more epic battle than the final boss. How Bethesda screwed over the final fight is beyond me. The last boss should have used FEV on his ass and turned into The Abomination or The Leader or something, am I right? What's with my two fave current gen games (F3 and Bioshock) having weak final bosses, both of which having multiples encounters that are harder before them???
Oh, and to the point of this post, lol; I wanted to know if anyone got the random encounter I just did. I had passed up the room of the crazy fire ant scientist, and after getting Grady's key, I found his safe and took out the naughty nightwear. No sooner did I put it on and check out my chick in her new/old raggedy ass dress, than this green-haired Raider named Lugnut ran in and demanded I hand over the naughty nightwear!!! I passed a speech test that convinced him it was better off with me, but does anyone know if I encountered my first random encounter (besides the generic Talon strike teams ambushing me in the Wasteland)? Oh, and I found the Firelance, I just didn't see the spaceship crash or hear anything.
P.S. I feel lame for getting all excited like eveyone else was like thirty pages ago, but I just borrowed F3 from my friend a month ago, so bite me. I''ll buy the GOTY edition whenever it comes out, and I have no other games to play, or books to read.
P.P.S Unless you like boredom, don't make the same mistake I did, and try for the "perfect character". It's is mind-numbing to go looking around the Wastes for the 250 skillbooks, and my character isn't good at anything. I'll just find the bobbleheads and explore to my hearts content, that is until I hit 20. Then I'll make a third character, who will do the survival guide missions, and then murder every last Megaton inhabitant, and bounce over to Tenpenny Tower.
