The Official ''Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindelwald” Thread

I don't know. I'm not really feeling it this time. I thought the entire point of this series was to have it set outside of Hogwarts, and now it's just coming back. I'm not even sure why they are bothering to call it Fantastic Beasts.

It was never stated that this new series wouldn't return to Hogwarts. Rowling wanted to do a series about Grindelwald's war. Can't do that without Dumbledore. And since Dumbledore was teaching at Hogwarts at this time it makes since that it would be shown in these films. The Aurors and Ministry officials go there to speak to Dumbledore, but that will probably be all the Hogwarts scenes we get in this film.

They are still calling it Fantastic Beasts because Newt is the main character and the film will feature magical beasts. Plus I'm sure WB wants all the films to have a constant title like the Potter films. Studios do love brand recognition.

The titling for the series is just weird though. From a marketing perspective it makes more sense to have labeled this film in a similar way to the last - 'Fantastic Beasts and ...', instead it's Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald'. I know it's a minor thing but it doesn't show any consistency. I assumed when this series was announced the underlying story was going to be about mythical beasts and monsters set in the wizarding world.

It shows consistency. All five films will be "Fantastic Beasts" with a subtitle. Thats consistency. Just like Harry Potter was consistently titled "Harry Potter" with a subtitle.

I'm not sure how you can say that. It's like going from 'Harry Potter and the...' to 'Harry Potter: Insert subtitle'. It's not consistent.

Fantastic Beasts and The Crimes of Grendelwald would make a better title.

Honestly the war with Grindelwald is what I wanted to see when they announced that they were doing prequels. So of course I'm all for this.

The current cast just lacks magic. Just give me Harry Potter 9.

I think the movie looks great!

I'm glad there's some color and it doesn't look like mud.

This looks more dynamic than the first film, the Seahorse creature looked great and the scene with the Bat carriage at the end was spectacular.

Pretty sure those where Thestrals, not bats.

Because a colon & the word "and" have the same function in the title. You're really splitting hairs.

Pretty sure those are Thestrals pulling the carriage.

They should have just named them different things. Like place them all under the Wizarding World title. Then just give each their own title. This has nothing to do with Fantastic Beasts.

Is Grindelwald an albino? He looks considerably paler than he did in the first film.

I'm betting that it's going to be "he's been in prison," as an explanation. Wizarding prisons seem to be particularly nasty (I mean even Hagrid was terrified at the thought of going to Azkaban in Book Three).

They're just gonna pad this out until we get the next Harry Potter movie next decade.

Yeah this series is pretty much a placeholder until they adapt Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for film.

I'll take this over that travesty any day of the week.

Still hoping that if Rowling makes a continuation from Deathly Hallows she retcons Cursed Child. That was terrible plotwise and broke the mythology by contradicting the way time travel was supposed to work here.

As for this film, i didn't find the trailer to be anything special. Hoping the film is good, but i wish they would get a talented Director like Cuaron doing these films again. David Yates did fine till now, but i feel like his style is kind of stagnant.
