The OFFICIAL FINAL CRISIS THREAD

is it a big summer event that involves all of the dc universe?

Communist Dickbag aka Arkady Rossovich loves to state the obvious and ask questions he already knows the answer to.

It's so epic when that "banned user" text appears. I'm getting my popcorn.

All of those posts were down the drain anyway. He has never posted an interesting thought in his life.

The last 2 pages of this thread>>>>> Countdown as a series.

Is Grant Morrison a moderator around here.

If you mention his name 3 times he'll appear. And a giant hand will appear out the sky and start poking you. Little known fact; Grant Morrison is the bad guy in Super Smash Bros.

It's not like anybody's actually offended by that, are we?

Final Crisis Theories:

First, this is what I'd do with the Multiverse. Read_Here.

I think there has to be some house cleaning for this new Multiverse. Final Crisis is the perfect platform since we know that "evil wins." Theories:

1) Final Crisis closes out Clutter-Earth. Earth-0, Clutter-Earth, whatever you want to call it, is destroyed. Some characters live, others die. An example of characters that would die would be the JSA, Marvel Family, Black Adam, and Freedom Fighters. I chose these characters because they are already properly represented in the new Multiverse with Earth-2, Earth-5, and Earth-10. Why would DC bring back these earths when the characters important to these earths are already featured on Earth-0? Housecleaning is obviously in order. I don't think Black Adam would die, but he would end up killing himself on Earth-5. But after all of the crap lately with the Marvel Family, I think a fresh start for them would be in order. Most of the current characters should be featured on the Silver Age Earth-1, so you can kill off plenty of those too.

2) Instead of closing out the post Crisis clutter-Earth and destroying it, Final Crisis simply kills off the duplicate characters.

Grant Morrison will not do either of those things.

Grant Morrison of Earth-3 is writing Final Crisis.

Seriously though, why wouldn't Morrision kill off, say, Cap'n Marvel? He said "evil wins" so I expect some absolutely rad deaths. And let's face it, something like Earth-2 is pretty pointless right now when you've got the JSA running around on Earth-0. Final Crisis has to have a legacy beyond the introduction of the Fifth World.

it's been lyina round for awhile, but i finally read the article on Final Crisis in Wizard. i, for one, am glad that the series will not have numerous tie-in issues. these have bugged me when universe stories are told.

I, for one, am kind of confused as to how the no tie-in thing works exactly.

One month in Superman and Batman titles everything is going to be same ol' same ol' and then the next month readers are going to get the book and the world will be leveled.

:funny:

I mean how will they go 8 months or whatever without referencing the biggest story going in the DC universe's history?

Won't the books HAVE to tie-in by default?

Maybe they take place in a different timeline or something to Final Crisis. Like who knows what timeline its in?

I'm guessing because he'd be ****ting on all the work his fellow writer Judd Winick just did (or is still in the process of doing; who the **** cares anymore?) in Trials of Shazam.

And, if anything, I'd much rather see the Multiverse get re-destroyed and have everything consolidated back on one Earth. Who the hell really needs an Earth-5 or Earth-22 or whatever? Elseworlds for OOC stuff and one Earth for canon stuff worked just fine.

i agree. the multiverse stuff gets kind of annoying... i actually liked that COIE merged all the earths. to me it made for a much richer earth. but thats just me

I just hope that after Final Crisis, the DCU will take away the multiple this and the multiple that. I'm sick of it, and it's not attractive. I just want One Universe where everything great about DC exists! No more retcons or reboots after that, let the continuity be coherent and stable!

So true. The whole concept of having to use multiverses to retell stories is annoying as well. You notice how so many people use that even outside of the comic book medium ("Smallville is a parallel universe to Superman Returns but Superman Returns is in the Donnerverse. Nolan's Batman is not a prequel of Burton's Batman there in mutliverses. Miller's Batman is in another Multiverse...") How bout just saying there different tellings and interpretations and keep it moving eh?
