The OFFICIAL FINAL CRISIS THREAD

I say you should read the interviews though because certain things make more sense when you read the interviews. Sometimes the editors are really frustrating when they brush off some questions but in some cases the interviews are better than the comics.

But you shouldn't feel that you need to read Countdown to understand FC because Dido has said that isn't the case. FC is stand-alone.

I'm collecting Countdown because that way I can get the gist of the tie-ins without spending a ****-ton of money. When IC rolled around, I was confused up the ass because I didn't read the tie-ins til later.

And, no, I want to avoid the interviews because then I would know things ahead of time. Final Crisis has become interesting enough to me that I want to be surprised; I'm looking forward to the event when before I was "meh" about it.

Don't worry about interviews, since there really hasn't been any coverage or hype for this event.

You shouldn't worry about collecting either, 'cause you'll just end up regretting it.

the only tie ins i bought were the ray palmer ones, and they were all good.

I just can't get into Final Crisis at this moment.

I was really excited for Infinite Crisis, mostly due to it being a direct sequel to COIE and in part due to the lead ins. Rann-Thanagar, Villains United, Donna Troy, OMAC, and Day of Vengenence all delivered on varying levels. All the tie-ins managed to at least present some intriguing thread heading into IC.

-Rann-Thanagar gave us planets at war.
-OMAC furthered the dissolution of the Trinity and an army of dangerous OMACs.
-Day of Vengence showed magic entering a new age & becoming wild again, the death of Shazam, spirits of evil descending on Gotham, a crazy Spectre....
-Villains United united the villains with a mysterious leader.
-Return of DT gave Donna Harbinger's multiverse disco ball and a mission in space.

A lot of threads converged in IC. I guess the anticipation didn't really reach its climax until the big reveal at the end of IC#1, but the build up was pretty solid.

Final Crisis intrigues me, but I have no idea what is going to happen. Ctdn has been a big failure. Captain Atom/Monarch is a huge player but is still undefined. If DC had just given us a Captain Atom 1-shot after Battle for Bludhaven, it would have cleared a lot up and assisted Monarch's appearances in Ctdn. I've still got my fingers crossed that DC will give us some official backstory to explain the change in Cap. Atom and why he wants to rule the galaxy.

The Monitors haven't worked thus far. We still don't know why the Monitors were hanging out with an Anti-Monitor in the Ion maxi. Hopefully the Monitors will merge into one, because there is just too many empty, nameless Monitors right now.

Death of the New Gods has been so-so, but Jimmy Olsen being the harvester of their souls is kinda lame. I've never been a huge Fourth World fan and nothing has changed that.

I imagine things will start to snowball before Final Crisis #0, and I'll be more excited. Five months out, however, I'm not thrilled at all. :csad:

Dan Dido hates you

Is Dan Dido related to this woman?

:huh: If so, I don't think Dan is capable of hate. :hehe:

Has anyone been reading Salvation run ? I think its its a good concept which is obviously going to be perverted for the sakes of the Crisis, but i do like the writer and i was wondering whether or not its worth picking up in trade form.

Hmmm...? never seen a RED power ring before, where the heck did that come from? Is this just something I don't know about or is this actually something none of us has seen before? Did Issue# 0 drop yet?

Geoff Johns has expanded the concept of the Green Lanterns to a whole emotional spectrum, where every color of the rainbow reflects a different emotion. He apparently considers willpower an emotion for some reason, since that's what green represents. Red represents hate, orange represents greed, yellow fear, blue hope, indigo compassion, and violet represents love.

Organizations are springing up to embrace the new colors, too. The corps for each of the colors that we know of so far are:

Green Lantern Corps -> green
Sinestro Corps -> yellow
Star Sapphires -> violet
Ganthet and Sayd's corps (unnamed right now, but probably just the Blue Lantern Corps or Hope Corps or something simple) -> blue

Each of the corps also have avatars. The ones we know of right now are just Parallax for fear (yellow/Sinestro Corps) and Ion for willpower (green/GL Corps).

Oh, and the Anti-Monitor became the Central Power Battery for a Black Lantern Corps, which apparently puts rings on corpses and resurrects them as zombies.

I'd say it's worth reading if you like the villains in general and Lex Luthor and the Joker in particular. It's been a good read so far.

ive been loving salvation run... though im irritated about how blatently they ruined what should have been an awesome reveal on the last page...

It was an awesome reveal to me. New characters with old names pop up all the time, especially in DC's post-retcon-frenzy current comics.

it was an awesome reveal, i just think it was excuted poorly... they showed too much of the transformation so when you turned to the last page you already knew who it was...

Eh, I don't think it's really possible to botch a last-page reveal three panels before.

The Martian Manhunter has inflitrated the villains' ranks on the Salvation Run planet.

its just a little thing really... if thats my only complaint then the series is going nicely in my opinion

A new Blockbuster. Somone (Sivana, I think, but I'm not sure) saw Blockbuster helping Lex's group and was like, "Isn't Blockbuster dead?" Lex is all, "I didn't create that Blockbuster. I'll have to keep an eye on him." Those are paraphrases.

And all these other "corps" except for the Black Lanterns (of course) is under the jurisdiction of the Guardians?

No, only the Green Lantern Corps is under the Guardians. Technically, the blue corps will be under Guardians as well, since Ganthet and Sayd were Guardians, but they were kicked out in the Sinestro Corps War. The Anti-Monitor used to be the Sinestro Corps' "Guardian," but he's dead and part of the Black Lantern Corps' Central Power Battery now, so the Sinestro Corps doesn't have any Guardian. We don't know who the "Guardians" of the other corps are.

Kicked out? How does anyone get kicked out out of the Corps except if you're Sinestro... Or you have a serious attitude problem like Gardner used to LOL!

The other Guardians wanted to rewrite the Book of Oa to allow the Green Lanterns to kill and for various other things during the Sinestro Corps War. Ganthet and Sayd objected, so the other Guardians booted them out. They warned Earth's GLs of the coming of Sinestro's forces, then went off to declare their love for each other and create the first blue ring. While the other Guardians embrace darker methods they would never have considered back in the day, Ganthet and Sayd embrace hope and become the blue corps' founders.
