The OFFICIAL FINAL CRISIS THREAD

It's not actually.

Grant will get it done in time.

They'll probably still working on it as it launches, sure. But I dont think it means unforseen delays. Especially with a break already scheduled.

Chillax my ninja

I wonder who's gonna bite the dust. Nightwing. Batman. Probably Wally's babies' momma.

It has a month break in the middle too.
Bad idea for an event, I think. Unless they just throw us a bunch of related one-shots that month to make up for it or something. Kind of like another WWIII, only spread out over a month and (hopefully) not as sucky.

I could actually see Jason Todd biting the dust again. Maybe Bruce Wayne if the rumours persist. In actuality, other than Bruce, I dont see it being a MAJOR Justice League character but I do see maybe someone from Titans biting the dust. Or would that be too obvious?

WWIII was the definition of bad timing (but I really didnt find it too great a storyline to matter. It was just a 52 tie in really)

With Final Crisis your looking at a (supposedly) the mother of all major DC crossover ( I mean whatever...) with 32 pages and no crossovers (supposedly and yes I realise 32 pages aint that much but they are oversized..which Im not too sure makes a difference but oh well) they'll probably put a lot of story into the run and hopefully a break will be justified.

ehhh I know its not the most convincing of arguments but if there's something impactful between the break, maybe it will justify it and get people hyped for the 2nd half.

I mean I guess...

Whatever the reason, a month-long break in the middle of the story is another nail in FC's coffin for me. I've been going back and forth between buying and not buying it in my mind. DC's events have mostly sucked in the last few years, I've found. Why subject myself to another one that I'm not even excited for?

Eh, I don't really care who dies. DC's never going to keep one of the trinity dead, even if they do kill one or more of them off again, and they keep shifting their other characters' status quos so much that I can't really invest in them anymore. Even if Wally West died, as much as I loved him in Waid and Johns' runs, I doubt I'd care. He hasn't even been back long anyway, and his stories have been pretty subpar since he's been back.

As for the rest: Jason Todd? It'd be great if they killed him off. Nightwing? Should've died back in Infinite Crisis, for my money. Tim could always replace him. Batman? Eh, he'll be back. Barry Allen coming back? Whatever, it wouldn't exactly be surprising at this point.

well killing Batman would be too obvious at this point.

Ah, but wheather it happens is the key....

If it does happens people will go like "Yeah, we heard about it 6 months ago" if it doesn't happen people will go like "Yeah, they weren't going to kill off one of the big 3." Either option is obvious.

Mostly because we know it won't last and, given DC's record of late, it probably won't even be a good story.

I think (to me at least), how they handle his death is the key more than whether or not its so obvious its gonna happen. Thats whats gonna make it intresting. I mean this is Bruce Wayne. So even though there have been too many deaths in so many crossovers the last 4 years, that it comes to the point where were all kinda numb to it, Bruce's death is still intresting at the very least. How will the mainstream audience react to it, like Superman, Robin or Capt America (even though most of them werent that bad) and how will the characters in the DC universe react to it. So unlike the other crossovers I think the fact that a) its short and b) There implications of major characters deaths and returns makes it a little easier to digest than something like 52 was.

Maybe the break in the middle is Batman's funeral.

He should go out like the G he is. Have him fight to the death in a climatic battle scene where he risks himself to save all!

It will have four one-shots in the missing month, I believe.

Ah. I should have known that from my childhood of listening to Bone Thugs 'N' Harmony.

agreed. the character at this point has no real direction, i think didio was right about him, not quite robin nor batman...so why have him around. and from there we could've had batman go to the asylum..because he finally loses it when dick dies.
