The Official Flash thread - Part 1

I enjoyed the issue, but I was annoyed that the cover falsely advertised an appearance by Wally. :cmad:What the heck DC!!

I thought it was a good issue too and I'm enjoying the relaunch so far. I know a lot of people are tired of event tie ins but I actually wish the Flash comic had a tie in with Flashpoint instead of just coming to a hault. That being said I'm a huge GJ fan so I'm glad to buy tie ins he writes and pretty much everything he does...

Well, I re-read Flash: Rebirth a few nights ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. I decided to pick up The Flash (The Dastardly Death of the Rogues.) Is there any other Flash graphic novel in between that? Just wondering. Or is everything else tied into Blackest Night/Brightest Day?

I love Barry, btw. :o And Wally. Lots of Barry hate in the hizzay.

DC's got a big 99 cent sale this weekend on about 100 digital Flash comics. Any recommendations? I've really only read Rebirth and everything after. I think I'm most interested in Wall's run. Here are the issues on sale through tomorrow on Comixology...

Brooklyn Rage :argh:

Ah, Yugioh Abridged. How I love thee so.

And this has probably been brought up before, but I'd rather not transverse through 40 pages of thread. Plus, the answer may have changed between then and now.

Anyways, I was wondering if we'd yet to hear any news on Wally? The reboot's less than a month away, surely some news must have been released by now, yes?

I think he's being "given a rest" so that they can focus on Barry, thus completely ignoring the modern Flash to bring back the one from twenty-five years ago in the midst of a reboot meant to appeal to younger readers.

It's not to appeal to younger readers, it's to be easier to jump onto. Barry's story is easier to grasp off the bat.

That doesn't make sense. Regardless of someone's intelligence Wally's basic story still has more elements to catch up with than Barry's.

Eh, but not in a way that it would be too difficult to catch up.

Barry's the Flash.
Barry dies.
Wally becomes the Flash.

That could all be explained in the foreword. Or a text box.

Then surely people would be asking "What happened to Barry?". I'd rather Wally be around, but I'm glad Barry is the Flash for the reboot.

Barry should be the Flash in the main title.

And there should be a Flash Family title that features, Jay, Wally, and Wally's kids.

The answer is so simple it's painful.

as much as i would LOVE that solution, the very same we've all been clammering for since barry's return, i doubt the sales would support 2 titles :csad:

i wish dc would do the old "give it a mini to test the waters" deal they used to do

Pfft, DC turned a fledgling title (Kyle's Green Lantern) into a multi-title, "blockbuster" movie and comic event franchise.

I'm sure they could do the same for Flash if they wanted to.

The man is clearly trying to keep Wally down. S'f***ed up, is what it is. :o

In the reboot, Barry never dated Iris.

Brian Cummingham:
“Yes, folks — in the post-FLASHPOINT world, Barry Allen has not only never dated Iris West, but he’s dating someone else entirely in issue #1! And that someone is…his longtime coworker Patty Spivot!

“If that upsets you, sorry about that. But I make no apologies for opening up a traditional storytelling avenue with our hero’s romantic life, something that’s been shut closed for a very long time now. This is no indictment of marriage. I’m a married man and wouldn’t trade it for anything. But in the realm of fiction, I feel strongly that this change to Barry opens up fresh, new creative directions and exciting new storylines.

“But don’t fret—Iris West remains an active supporting cast member. And a wonderfully entertaining one, at that! Who else could possibly hit up Barry for anonymous crime-story tips to fill her blog on the Central City Citizen’s website? No one but the go-getter Iris could consume so much caffeine and live to tell about it.

“In Flashpoint #1, we saw Barry Allen recreate the whole of reality merging DCU, Wildstorm and DC Vertigo creating a new reality. But why does he seem to have created one without his wife – or his nephew and fellow Flash, Wally West?

“And who knows, maybe someday we’ll have the opportunity to see why Barry and Iris fell in love in the first place. Or maybe not! Stay tuned — I can assure you Barry’s love life will never, ever be boring!

ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Well

That.....that.....I'm done with Flash.

Soooooooo

Wally is a kid again...
