The Official Flash thread - Part 1

lol i know but when I read it fast, I read her name.

I'm so glad the 00s are over and we don't have to stare at that face from 9-10pm every Tuesday night.

Iris is sexy and pretty fab but I would totally choose the Glider

The Glider is a total cutie and just imagine the fun bondage potential of that costume of hers. She's already tieing Barry up with it on that cover. Cute blonde and kinky is a winning combination

She'll have Barry begging to date her her by the end of the issue :ninja:

He's going to get some kinky villainess lovin'
And then Barry will discover that Glider gave him an STD, setting the stage for him to die again and for Wally to return from wherever the Hell DC dumped him.

Where is a good place to start in the Flash books?? What are some of the good trades or graphic novels. I've been wanting to get into Flash stuff for a while now and aside from some random knowledge of some events throughout his history Ive never really checked them out and I'm really curious about them. Any help is appreciated

I'm digging this comic book right now and can't wait to pick up the annual

But that whiny Dr Elias dbag needs to be killed off and killed off soon

That boring jerk sucks all the fun out of any scene he's in

He's like a vampire sucking away all the fun

. Or is he? Coming soon, Manapul's greatest contribution to The Flash mythos: Platypus Grodd.

I'm still impatiently waiting for Platypus Grodd to be a real thing

Mark Waid's run on the Wally West era is good times incarnate.

the current flash books starte out okay but are now boring me.

He be the best modern writer to ever write the Flash

Manapul is a close second I think :)

Sorry you're not digging it Motown :(

I've been enjoying the introductions to the Rogues and the return of Piper to the supporting cast :)

The only thing I don't like is Barry deciding to let everyone think he's dead

What the what Barry

Barry's imitating Batman's penchant for being insensitive to the feelings of his friends and loved ones.

Batman, lurking on a rooftop, nods once in approval before returning to his cave to brood over the Jason Todd memorial :ninja:

THE FIRST Mark Waid run. The second one was crap.....what with the Vagina Monsters. :o

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I'm finding I really don't like Francis Manapul's art. It feels so... so... drab (not the same kind of drab as Marvel's Captain Marvel drab but still drab). Not really feeling the writer either from the few issues I've read so far.

Ok, what are some titles of trades or graphic novels?? I like more current stuff at least the mid 90s and up but I can handle some 80s stuff. I have just never been too interested in Flash or any DC characters outside of Batman and I'm really starting to get interest in the rest of the DCU and I am really curious what Flash's solo stories are like. I think I needa get into some JL and Superman stuff too, I've never really read any Superman books yet I still feel incredibly familiar enough with the character that while Smallville was running I already knew of most of the villains they introduced

Mark Waid's "JLA Year One" and Green Lantern/Flash miniseries "The Brave & The Bold" were pretty good.

I fear that Waid was losing his mind at that point

Thankfully his sanity has been restored now he is writing Daredevil

I think it was more DC editors ****ing around with him more than anything. :o

I actually enjoyed the the Kid Flash issue of DCU Presents a little bit.

I can't get into this version of Bart at all so I didn't even glance in that book's direction tbh.

The Flash
was better during the first arc & the Capt. Cold one before the Gorilla City thing. The speed force issue with that villain that will essentially replace The Top was pretty damn cool. I just hate that they really haven't exploited that setup yet though with leaving Iris stranded in there and everything because they're so adamant on setting up an arc with all the rogues.

So they're all being akwardly reintegrated into continuity with mixed results. The last few issues weren't as good as the first ones but at the same time I rather read a 3/5 book than a crappy one.

I dunno, it still seems pretty damn good to me. It just seems like they're dedicating a few arcs more to world-building than necessarily delivering some massively definite story.

Flash is still my favourate book from DC. The only thing I'm missing is the wonderful art we used to get :csad:
