The Official Flash Thread - Part 2

Trying to be realistic in casting choices, Ryan Gosling unfortunately isn't a possible option cause he'd said he's not interested in playing superheroes. He would be a great Barry Allen, though.

Based on this, my choices would be:

Jake Gyllenhaal as Barry Allen:

Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Iris West:

And Garrett Hedlund as Wally West if they make the movie with him.

Jake is kinda young if Garret's gonna be Wally. they look the same age.

It seems like Fox are pursuing Joe Cornish (Attack the Block, Edgar Wright's writing partner), Justin Lin, and Nicholas Winding Refn for Die Hard 5, three dudes I want for Flash. Wake up, WB!

(I doubt Refn can do it due to his schedule. Joe is busy with Antman so I can see Lin getting it.)

Refn for Die Hard 5? Don't think it's something he'd be interested in and yes, I don't think his schedule would allow him to do it anyway. And I want Refn for Wonder Woman damnit. Yes she has a lesser chance to get a movie than Flash but I know he's interested in a Wonder Woman movie and it'd be wonderful to see his take on the character.

Joe Cornish having any kind of involvement in Die Hard 5 blows my mind... Infact, Cornish having anything to do with anything outside a cult TV and radio show blows my mind...

Also I agree with Gyllenhaal for Barry, he'd do it well. He always does things well.

I didn't bother to read thru the whole thread but did anyone suggest Neil Patrick Harris for the part of Wally or even Barry? He has a decent 'runners' build, is a bit bigger upper body than you might think (would look good in the suit) and would have the humor down perfectly. Just a thought.

I and a few others have campaigned Neil.

He also voiced Barry in Justice League: New Frontier if you haven't seen it I'd recommend it.

****, Neil Patrick Harris in his heyday could have been any number of young superheroes.

I suggested Gyllenhaal as Barry and Hedlund as West for different versions.

I prefer Barry Allen, as much more Gyllenhaal as an actor.

What about Mary Winstead? :)

Devon Sawa will be best, whatever you guys say!
And he's not some expensive movie star, they can hire him quite cheap compared to Jake Gyllenhaal and some of the other suggestions (like Garret Hedlund)

Sawa is pretty unknown and still have a somewhat known face to the audience. He's just perfect. And he's got the right lenght too.
It would be easy to turn his body into that of an action star, he's got it in him already.

The only thing that in fact speaks against Devon Sawa for Flash, is that he's not the talk of the town these days. But does it make him a better candidate for the role if he's the flavor of the month and on peoples' lips all the time? Does that weigh more in the equation than other things, like how suitable he actually IS, or COULD BE, for the part?

Strange world we live in.

His recognizable face kinda.... Isn't recognizable anymore. He looks a lot different than he did in Final Destination and Idle Hands. He looks a lot tougher, but a lot different. And wouldn't they want a big expensive movie star to help sell the product?

Devon who? LOL

My choices:

Mary Elizabet Winstead as Iris West and Jake Gyllenhaal as Barry Allen.

Isn't that a good thing? I mean, no more teenage heart-throb.

But I don't buy that they need an expensive star for the role. As long as there is is talent, the star shine isn't needed. It would be a better thing to get a famous director than a dito actor.

The president of WB Jeff Robinov has said that they already have an "solid script" for The Flash film. I hope they hire a good director soon and start the production.

I think they should have released Flash before Green Lantern, because he's much more popular.

Anyway...let's wait.

Plus, another picture of Iris West:

HighFivingMF: One can still see it's the same person

ChickenScratch + Ursa: Devon Sawa was a popular teen star in America in the 90s. He played in a bunch of films. Not only those mentioned, but also Casper, Night of the Twister, The Boys Club, Wild America etc. Most of them were released overseas too. If you have the age, you may remember him from that time.
