The Official Flash Thread - Part 2

ME TOO!

i asked JMC to do a manip based on a flash costume design i did and i think it turned out fantastic!

the idea for the trim is that the suit would absorb energy from the friction created when he moves and release it at those points, so they would glow brighter the faster he moves and when moving fast enough create the familiar lightning trail. I also wanted him to be wearing some sort of helmet, because brain buckets are important, and some of the other touches are just there to tie the helmet in with the rest of the suit.

hope everyone enjoys!

Okay, very nice work. A for effort. I had the idea of doing the lightning trim on the boot/shin area (a la the arms) if they decided the gold boots just absolutely would not work.

But the shades HAVE to go, The Flash should NOT be wearing goggles, shades, etc, of any kind, and that goes double for a helmet, even if I do see it as a strange nod to Jay Garrick in a way. Totally misses the point of being The Flash (iconic version, you guys know what I mean, lol), so that stuff I would say has to go. Also the ear pieces should be much bigger, he looks like he has little elf ears here as opposed to "door handles" (as Mark Millar called them - and they MUST be there. lol). I would also get rid of the bit of lightning trim around the neck, it's distracting, IMO (although it isn't anywhere near as "busy" looking as the New 52 suit is drawn in some images).

It's important that they get the suit right in the movies and we as fans are careful not to approve of stuff too "different" like this in a way, no offense. I have never understood people's need to complicate The Flash suit with goggles or shades, it's completely unnecessary, The Flash's suit is so well designed, so PERFECT the way it is it requires very little tweaking for live action, so much so you have to be very, very careful how much you mess with it because even the slightest changes in some aspects detract from it, IMO.

It's like the Spider-Man suit to me in a lot of ways; there are no ways to "improve" it. I'd literally just use the comic suit but use real sharp materials and threads and textures to make it. People would be amazed by it. I'd give it a bit of a shine to it as well, it wouldn't be spandex but it wouldn't be like any suit we've seen before (including MOS).

The genius of The Flash suit is in its simplicity, and how sleek it is through that.

That's a great idea!

This is very well-done, but I'd definitely make some changes.

-Give him the traditional cowl.

-Make the boots yellow/gold.

-Change the design of the belt (he looks like he has a gut).

-Give the bodysuit (i.e. everything below his upper chest/shoulders) some texture. As it is, it looks flat and boring.

-Make the earpieces bigger.

My only real complaint is the helmet/cowl. I don't think that's something that should be changed. But still, for a fan made design... It's pretty amazing! :D

i think the hood style masks look kinda boring in live action

^^ I think there's a way they can do it right, and it is The Flash. I always thought the helmet thing was dumb, it only looked good on Cap in TFA, IMO.

I do prefer the regular Flash mask shape.

However, I think gold shades could work within that shape. Have them pop in when he's running.

The rest of the suit is cool though. Very Tron Legacy.

I almost think this suit design, material, etc, would work well for Green Lantern.

I actually think the helmet and visor makes a lot more logical sense than a cowl. It's the thing I liked most about Lixdexia's concept.

Maybe he's too young for the role, but has anyone considerd Max Theriot as a possible Barry Allen? He has the look and has shown promise as an actor. I mean when it comes to the age issue, he does turn 25 this year. Since we're likely still several years away from seeing a Flash film, that potential problem should resolve itself soon enough.

I think he auditioned for Wally back when they were going to make JLM.

I can kinda see it with Max but not my first choice by any means.

I love that suit, except for the helmet. That's the only thing i dislike. I hate that visor, otherwise perfect

What about Ben McKenzie as either Wally or Barry? He is such underrated actor that probably gets blown off because he was in The O.C. Go watch Junebug or Johnny Got His Gun. His most impressive skill is the non-verbal acting. He emotes with eyes and body language. Its easier to see him as Barry because he has the dry wit and stoic vibe. But I've listened to interviews and watched videos where he is a complete goofball ham as well. And because I'm so high on McKenzie while Wally is my favorite I want it too work lol I want a good actor for Wally that can also nail the fun comedy. Wally is an underrated deep character in comics and when done right can match Peter Parker. In fact, Wally is more relatable than Peter. Peter is a genius for Christ sakes. If he wasn't Spidey he would be the new Bill Gates. But if Wally wasn't the Flash he would be a regular guy living a regular life, maybe a struggling life. That's why a Barry/Wally Mask Of Zorro style passing of the torch film is needed.

The visor makes sense, though. It protects his eyes against the wind, since he's running at such high speeds.

I think they stick with the original design for the head, and have lenses pop in (ala TDK) when he needs them.

Barry Allen has a protective aura around him that prevents things like that from happening. The Flash doesn't need visors. :woot:

Also, how about the JL tie in being an after credit scene with The Flash racing Cavill's Superman for charity!

we hit it first whedon/singer.

So who does everyone want to see as villains? The Rogues would definately need to be the threat in the first film. Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Weather Wizard, and Captain Boomerang would be a good line-up I think. Maybe Grodd for the second. I'd wait until the third movie before bringing in Zoom, but I would build up to him in mold of Emperor Palpatine. Reveal that he's been traveling back in time in order to manipulate the course of Barry Allen's life.

I wonder what the story will be about, if they want to make it set in The Man of Steel's Universe then the film will need to have a serious storyline

i want to see it be about wally growing up by watching barry be the flash, with wally being the flash in all subsequent movies.

Mirror Master, let's do a movie where the villain doesn't have the same powers as the hero for once, and for a plot click my signature. :D

Needs to be a Barry Allen origin story of how he became The Flash and made the identity.

But a typical superhero origin film is so formula. I want to do something different. Which a movie that starts with Barry Allen as an established Flash dying and Wally West taking up the mantle would be. I am biased toward Wally West but I feel like I have a point. I would also have a retired, old Jay Garrick. He would mentor Wally after Barry dies just as I would say he did with Barry. The Garrick Flash wouldn't have went public, only a myth. Barry loved the myth as a kid and that's why he called himself the Flash only to see Garrick at his doorstep after debuting. Remember, Barry called himself the Flash because he read comics about Garrick's Flash. So it's a play on that!!!

My villain for this would be a mix of the Hunter Zoloman Reverse Flash and "The Rival" Reverse Flash. It would be more Zoloman though, including the name. The Zoloman childhood background would be in place for one. Two, he hates Barry Allen because Barry didn't save his wifes life while he also ended up in a wheelchair. Zoloman snaps, gains speed force powers through the water fumes like Garrick, and discovers that Barry is The Flash. Zoloman kills Barry and then poses as The Flash in order to destroy the image of The Flash by killing any bad guy he comes across as well as any law enforcement that tries to stop him. The character is a complete psychopath. The only weakness he has is due to the water fume method. It will be the worst way to gain speed force powers because it makes a person faster than other methods do. But it takes a toll on your body. Sometimes it makes a person the king of all speed, then it burns out here and there. It also causes heart issues over time. That's why Garrick doesn't have speed anymore. And lastly, I would want Joaquin Phoenix in this role.

One last thing. I'd open the film with a Wally voice over talking about Flash facts and praising his uncle Barry. As the voice over goes on, you see both Wally running around Barry's lab while going back and forth with Barry as the Flash to see how great he was. Later, it is revealed that Barry brought Wally to his lab and set things up to purposefully give Wally powers in the same manner he received so that if/ when something happened to him The Flash could live on. Wally never uses his powers openly out of respect for Barry, who asked that of him to keep Wally of the radar because he couldn't afford something happening to Wally.

As you can see, I've taken the Nolan approach of taking liberties from source material. And as we know, that just happened to work.

Oh, and acknowledge Superman. I want a Superman cameo here!
