If I recall correctly... Gambit's been mistaken for a vampire (the red eyes), crossed paths with vampires (a couple times) and even been a vampire (in the Mutant X alternate reality) over the years.

All I'm hoping that it's more True Blood than Twighlight-I kind of saw the whole vampire thing coming...Marvel couldn't resist not milking that cash-cow!

Agreed. I want some resolution. I think it's a shame that the last good Gambit story was the 'trial of Gambit'. At least for many it is.
I think the last good Gambit stories were in his ongoing series. After that ended I haven't really liked anything that anyone has done with him. :(

I know! I'm so sick of everything being about vampires.

I don't mind a good lot of vampire stuff -- so long as it's actually good, lol. :p

I agree! I love Buffy, True Blood, Anne Rice and even the Blade films, but this has the feeling of someone from Disney going "Hey, vampires are in! Let's stick some in some of the popular Marvel titles in order to drum up some of the teeny-bopper fan base".

To me this comic has the potential feel of the recent-ish 'Spider-man & the X-men' comic. I think that's what 'heroic age' is supposed to be. Which if it is then it may be a good thing.

Speaking of 'Spider-man & the X-men', I wouldn't mind seeing Xraven again (or Iron Maniac on the whole wanting more of little known characters subject).

Gambit will finally be used on an X-team. He will star in Hellbound

Im not witing it off yet. Im interested in seeing someone other than Carey handle him and it. Love Yost so I have faith

Fair enough. I'm just worried we're going to have a really stupid "I'M EVIL AGAIN!" announcement and then Gambit will get beat down.

Another preview shot for the Vampire thing the X-Titles are going through. Nice to see Gambit with some heavy hitters.

From what I've read about the title, a "core" team that's going to be relatively independent from the majority of the X-Ranks will "shake itself out after the first arc."

If that's not an ideal spot for Gambit on a team, I don't know what is...

Problem is Death Gambit is on a later Hellbound cover AND seems to be mentioned during a solicit.
At least we know whatever happens won't negatively affect his standing with the X-Men all that much, given the recent teasers with the main team.

Even though its taken a while, it looks like he's slowly starting to ease his way back into being featured regularly. At the very least, this new X-men title gives the possibility.

I hear dat! :D

Maybe the Disney effect has finally worked in our favor! I can't see the execs there ignoring the fact that Gambit is arguably the most popular X Man (just check out how popular his talkboards are-I think he has the largest/most popular one at the Marvel site) and not taking advantage of that!

Gambit is probably the second most popular male character for fanfics, behind Wolverine.

So, Gambit makes an appearance in Second Coming: Hellbound #1. This was an interesting first issue, but I couldn't help but wonder, with all the fuss going on with Second Coming and Cyke all worried about his "heavy hitters" out there battling, why is it that Gambit, no slouch in the field, has nothing better to do but build a house of cards?

And then when "Death" decides to show, there is no transition. One second Gambit is fighting, next he's just rabbiting down the hole....

Good, yes, but not comepletely satisfying on the Gambit front...

I wonder if someone will be smart enough to shoot a Gambit live action film. I think his cameo in Wolverine was OK.

Gambit was 1 of the only good things about that movie, imo. A solo movie with Mr. Sinister as the villain would be awesome. Maybe have Belladonna and the Maruaders as well.

Only if Taylor gets to play him again. :D

I'd say Cyclops doesn't trust Gambit. And I don't even think that's remotely far-fetched. Yes, even after the events of Gambit's Nation X short.

And battlefield-generals don't count on people they don't trust. I mean, there's no surprise that Alpha Team consisted of, for the most part, some of the best, longest-running, and sure-footed X-Men.

As for the thing about him becoming Death, it's good for two reasons: Hellbound #1 couldn't really spend the time allowing Gambit to go through an emo-whining session before turning into Death; and it's much more interesting if Yost, as an author, explores for Gambit, as a character, a willingness to turn into Death rather than fighting against it and whining.

Oh, and the magical third: it'll look really awesome when the next issue focuses back on the team to see Death-Gambit kicking evil-demon-like-things' butts.

I'd love to see that, Gambit using the whole Death thing for his own purposes, instead of it owning him. :)
