The Official Green Lantern Rumors/Speculation Thread - Part 1

Great if so, but (I feel) a GLC film would be the perfect opportunity to establish another female hero. Diana seems so alone in that regard, and it's not as if we don't have the characters to play with.

could Michael B Jordan be interested in playing Stewart after officially signing the first look deal with WB? =)

That would be absolutely amazing

Tom Cruise and Michael B Jordan...

Well that's not happening. McQuarrie is locked up on Mission Impossible for the foreseeable future.

Probably for the best. And they should probably just make this a John Stewart movie instead of making sure Hal Jordan gets accommodated.

If "the foreseeable future" means 3 years, then sure. But the world's not ending in 2022, and development of the DCEU moves at a snail's pace, so I ain't ruling him out for anything.

We don't know when the next Mission Impossible movies are coming out or if he will be done by 2022.

Both films would be shot back-to-back — not unlike the final two “Avengers” sequels — in order to take advantage of the popularity of the series, with the first bowing summer 2021 and the second coming out in summer 2022. The release comes in 2021 to avoid conflict with Paramount and Cruise’s next big venture, “Top Gun: Maverick.”
Christopher McQuarrie Closes Deal to Direct Back-to-Back ‘Mission: Impossible’ Films (EXCLUSIVE)

Of course things like injuries could happen again to delay it, but that's the plan.

Also, I don't want a solo GL film. Hal/John buddy cop Corps movie or bust.
I'd prefer a John/Jessica buddy movie. I don't mind (a) Hal being in it, but more a mentor role and certainly not the star character - which is why Cruise is a bad call. He'd want centre stage.

IF he does it from fall 2022 then it will probably arrive in 2025, Tom will be about 63 haha

So basically, McQuarrie is locked up for the next three years. I doubt Green Lantern stays dormant for that long if they keep moving forward.

I would take it if GLC starts filming within the next 3 years though haha

That will probably be about the time he'll want to retire from stunt-heavy action blockbusters and move into the more CGI-heavy ones. ;)

If the movie ends up having a star character despite being labeled as a duo lead/buddy cop thing, then there's no need to even have multiple earth Lanterns in it. There's no point to pretend if has two or three lead characters if only one of them is the star/main character. And I don't think I'm interested in seeing a Green Lantern Corps movie where Hal Jordan is featured as a supporting character whose main or only purpose is to prop the other character(s). Either give the guy his due after what they did to him last time and make him as equally important as the others, or just don't have him there at all.

In these ensemble flciks there's always that one "main character". They don't outright say it but you tell who gets more development.

I wouldn’t mind waiting if he wanted to do it. Can’t imagine him stuffing it up.

I’d like the 3 of them to be big and for it to feel like a team thing if they’re going to call it Corps. I’d be fine with Hal being the star for the first one while those 2 come through and take centre stage from then on.

Ya GOTG had 4 leads but Starlord was the main focus

Well, that's because Star-Lord was the only human protagonist in the movie. Makes sense that he would be the main focus. Here you would have more than one human character, so I don't think I'm interested in seeing one character playing the supporting role to another. Like I said, if this is what they plan to do with Jordan, why even have him there. He deserves better after what he got last time than playing the role of the secondary "mentor" character who's just there to prop other characters. If that's the case, then there's no need for him to be there. They could just acknowledge that there was another human GL long ago.

I thought they could just do what MI4-MI6 (especially 4 and 6) did with TC as the main guy leading a team of agents but we'll see what they end up doing
