The Official Green Lantern Rumors/Speculation Thread

Geez are your posts awful.

Did some of you get a chance to think about maybe Pine wasn't even offered the Hal role? Just perhaps?
.

First Warner Bumbles announced that they were going forward with an "edgier" Green Lantern 2. They slunk away from that, then there were rumors of a Flash/GL team-up in 2018. That's not happening, and there are no announced plans for any GL in the JL franchise yet, nor are there any announcements about a GL or Flash or Arrow. All we have in concept art with no hard details for a movie that's 5 years away. Put all of these pieces together and it's easy to see that WB is clueless about the franchise. The absence of any info after SDCC confirmed this for me.

Pine likely wasn't offered the role because Warner Bumbles doesn't know how to incorporate the Lanternverse into the DCCU or the DCTU. I don't believe anything I read about GL in live action and I'll disbelieve until something is actually filming.

I think the issue is the "scoopers." They gave people the wrong impression. I'm not saying these "scoopers" are always wrong but they are wrong enough to not take their scoops at face value. When Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline Hollywood report something take that more seriously than these "scoopers."

Eh, I'd rather see Pine as Trevor than playing Kirk again in another franchise but that's just me. He's in no way above the role considering the talented actresses who have played love interests and I imagine he's going to get more to do than a good chunk of them.

I honestly doubt Hal is going to be presented the same way he is in the comics anyway, so in the end the Kirk comparisons might not even hold up. Hal as we know him seems way too clean cut for this universe. I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to make him somewhat darker. They would hardly have Hal and Batman bicker every two seconds, to my huge disappointment. He is the first human member of the GLC so I wouldn't completely dismiss those rumors about the grizzled soldier, too.

I think whoever shows up in JL will also show up in GLC1. Even though they will treat the movies like a corps where they won't be beholden to the same lantern/set of lanterns, I think they want to keep some continuity by having the JL lantern show up in the GLC1. Unless they want to do some running joke where in every JL movie there's a new lantern we haven't seen, but I don't see that happening so as not to confuse some audience members.

I was listening to collider on youtube and there was a mailbag question about could Pine/trevor end up a lantern. Interesting idea, but it could upset some CB fans.

Marvel? More like Marfail! Am I right, guys? Amirite? LOOK AT HOW CLEVER I AM, YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!! :awesome:

IMDB is an idiot toilet. Try to stay away from it as much as you can. lol

It's so childish and embarrassing and he keeps typing it out like it's the most clever thing ever. It makes me annoyed and feel sorry for him.

I hate it. It's like gamers who are always crying about $ony or Micro$oft.

This, however, could be worth salvaging.

Yeah I really should learn to stay off of IMDB, it's bad for my health.

Anyway personally I'd like Dan Stevens (The Guest and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast live action movie starring Emma Watson) for the Hal Jordan role. So that's my fancasting and I'm sticking to it until it doesn't happen. I know this isn't the casting thread but I don't give a crap.

WIth Pine out, this is what I'm really hoping for. In which case, they could either give Nathan Fillion his dream role (now in live action) or Jim Caviezel.

Please stop doing this.

When there is an acceptable Justice League live-action film franchise, perhaps I will. As long as they keep handling DC properties with all of the grace of Matt Foley the motivational speaker, I'll call a bumble a bumble.

It's so childish and embarrassing.

If Marvel Studios starts leaving things on the table like WB, be my guest.

I've got so many layers of nerd rage that Atrocitus is going to be sending a ring my way any day now. I'm ready to chew glass over the fact that DC Collectibles still hasn't given me my White Lantern Kyle Rayner figure.

All this of a C list superhero. Who the wider public know noting about and those that do want to forget Ryan Reynold's version.

Warner Bubbles should forget about him.

Hal Jordan is one of DC's Big 5. He's one of the most adapted heroes in comics. Look up his "in other media" appearances on Wiki if you don't believe me. Even the other Lanterns, Alan included, populate the world that was built around Jordan. John, Kyle, and Guy's origins are tied to Hal. I tremble at the idea of Warner Bumbles trying to establish another Lantern without the source material.

and to the wider public Green Lantern Hal is a nobody. They couldn't gives a rat's ass about who he is in the comics. He isn't a Superman/Batman/Spider-Man etc. So Warner Bubbles aren't obligated to do anything with him. He had his chance and he blew it.

You're lucky they're giving him another chance within this movie universe.

Which sort of stands to suggest that Warner Bros believe that the character is in fact still somebody they can bank on. If anything, it weakens your argument.

In a Justice league movie they're not going to be banking on Hal Jordan for frick sakes.:funny:

Audiences went to see Blade, Hellboy, Ant-Man, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. The only of those who couldn't even be considered a B-lister is Ant-man. If those can be adapted, then there's only one reason that GL, Flash, and Wonder Woman (heroes seen by multiple generations in animated form) don't have similar movie franchises as we speak: studio failure.

Hence, Warner Bumbles.

At least from my expirience, Green Lantern is easily one of the most recognizable heroes to the GA. 2nd tier at lowest.

And the audiences went to see his last movie and decided it was crap. He isn't a Superman or Spider-man he's not getting multiple chances. All this over being ******** because you thought Pine should've been Hal instead of Trevor, like he was too good for Trevor. You clearly exaggerated Pines' stature or Hal's.

I'll leave you to it bro but get this PINE ISN'T TOO GOOD FOR STEVE TREVOR. He's a decent actor as well he isn't a great or good one if you were being honest.

Before Marvel's movie division took off, they had two characters that everyone knew about - Spider-Man and Hulk. Hulk had a movie in 2003 that bombed hard. 5 years later he got a reboot that couldn't double its production budget in worldwide revenue. We're talking about Hulk here, a character known worldwide, yet has proven to not be a worldwide box office draw on two separate occasions. That did not stop Marvel from putting him in The Avengers where he turned out to be the most critically acclaimed character. You know why Marvel included him despite his box office woes? Because Hulk is an integral part of The Avengers mythos, the same way Green Lantern is to the Justice League mythos. You can't have a DC live-action movie universe without the Green Lantern concept. The GLs are a major part of the DC universe and regardless of which version is used, you can not have Justice League movies without Green Lantern in it. If WB treats the character better this time, the public would be more than happy to forget the 2011 disaster.
