Sci-Fi Tron: Ares with Jared Leto

Tron has never been a profitable franchise. This would have failed regardless.

I actually ended up enjoying this a good bit. Leto was quite normal here rather than going method, just a shame he is a scum bag.

The rest of the cast are great too though and I ended up enjoying the storyline of AI coming into our world. Seeing the original grid was great and of course they had to tease connections to Legacy for the next movie which won't happen now. That credits teaser could have turned into something great also. Greta Lee was a standout and her story in the movie quite touching.

I have complained about the budget but in fairness you see it all on screen. This is a big movie but as I said a few pages back it just wasn't going to be profitable. I think Ronning has potential as a director for sure. He knows how to do a set piece and make a movie look good.

I still feel a direct Legacy sequel would have done better, especially with Kosinski and Cillian back, but I did enjoy what they were going for here. 7/10.

I enjoyed it, music great and popped around the theatre like I hadn't experienced before. It was a quite quick 2 hours as well. I don't think the critics are being fair here for obvious reasons. Not a classic, but hardly what they're saying it is.

The seven dollars this movie made were exclusively because of NIN. That was the lone source of interest I ever heard anyone express for this movie.
Same with Daft Punk for Tron Legacy. I remember when they were announced to score that film it was pretty much all anybody ever talked about for months before and after it released and why they went to go see the see the film in theaters in the first place. It was such a big deal. Hell, people still talk about it. That and Jeff Bridges.

To put this into perspective, are people going to talk about Tron: Ares’ score 15 years from now in the same breath as that film’s score? I barely hear people talking about it now.

Did you watch it and that's an open question to everyone in the thread. I've seen this, FF and Superman this year and personally Tron was my favourite of the three.

I haven't yet, I'll probably enjoy it apart from Leto discomfort. It's a type of movie I'm enormously inclined to be charitable to.

I saw it. Again, I liked it, but it's not amazing or anything
