.................. sure.

I'm glad. The idea of the same guy playing Kirk and Hal at the same time just bugged me.

It's the same reason I dont want Pine or Pratt as young Han Solo.

I love how some of you seem to think Chris Pine is too good for Steve Trevor. He really, really isn't at all. :funny:

If Amy Adams isn't too good for Lois, Pine certainly isn't too good for Steve Trevor.

Yep, but I guess with Amy it's a special case. She's a fan of the character and auditioned for Lois Lane three times(FlyBy),MCG's and SR) before she got the role in MOS.

Such a shame. Pine is officially being wasted as Steve Trevor.

Because you know how the role plays out in the movie.... Please tell me more.

Jake G would work as Hal. Doubt it happens though. Maybe as Grayson/Nightwing though?

Anyhow, glad Pine as Trevor is a done deal! I'm would have been happy of he was Hal also....but him being Trevor will work also! Just glad he is in the DCEU!

If Tatum is really ditching Gambit which I would not blame him at all....than Tatum as Hal would make sense with him having a tight relationship with WB's and the films he has made with them.

I think Tatum is more of a fit as Hal/GL and in the space buddy cop ensemble format than as the cajun Gambit. He seemed miscast from the beginning IMO.

If WB' s can somehow snatch McConaughey as Hal that would be nice!

Bingo. Same goes for Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and pretty much any other A-lister who's played a superhero's love interest over the last decade or so. Pine's not any bigger or better than them.

I can see Tatum as Shazam.

As for Jake Gyllenhaal I hope he is offered a role in the DCU even if its' not for Hal. Funnily enough hope Amy Adams works her magic and convinces him to sign up seeing as they're working on a movie in October. :sly:

It's a little weird for a guy with Pine's fame and body of work to play a supporting role like this. Jordan is a much more prominent DC character, and very similar to Pine's Captain Kirk. This comes off as another odd casting choice for DC, especially since there's a chance that Pine could upstage Gadot in the film.

Yeah. I can see Tatum as Shazam as well. Him and Rock working together again? Wow!

Yes. I mentioned in another thread that I just want Gyllenhaal to be a part of this DCEU in some role whether it's as Hal/GL, Grayson/Nightwing, or big time villains like Riddler, or Red Hood/Jason Todd!

I can also see lesser names like Garrett Hedlund or Charlie Hunnam being looked at for Hal/GL if the bigger fish like Gyllenhaal, McConaughey or Tatum can't be had.

Not really weird at all actually.

Hmm....depending on how well WarCraft does....perhaps get Duncan Jones to direct the GLC and he can convince his Source Code star Jake Gyllenhaal to be Hal Jordan/Green Lantern?

Aiiieeeee!

Maybe he just didn't want to play Hal Jordan. According to the scoopers he was offered both roles and in the end chose Trevor. If true, kind of strange why he would choose to play Wonder Woman's love interest over a founding member of the Justice League, but unfortunately it's a well known fact that WB don't exactly know how to treat the character of Hal Jordan. Or maybe Hal is just not going to be in the Justice League movies at all.

It makes me even more skeptical about how the DCCU will eventually play out. Pine turned down a chance to play one of the Big 5, and his only other option was Wonder Woman's boyfriend? Of all of the important characters in the DC Universe for a well-known action star to play, that's what WB gave him?

Well again, maybe Hal is just not going to show up until GLC. Personally to me, the notion that Pine had to choose and decided on Trevor over Jordan doesn't make a lot of sense, so he was probably never offered the GL role to begin with. Or maybe he didn't want to be the "face" of another franchise so chose to play a supporting role. Who knows, other than the GL concept art at Comic Con and Arrow's producer saying they can't use Hal on Arrow/Flash due to him being featured in GLC, we don't know what's going on with the character in DCCU. As for Pine himself, if not Hal what other role would you have liked him to play?

Alan Scott, The Spectre, Wally West, Jay Garrick, Hawkman, Blue Beetle, Doctor Fate, Booster Gold, Kyle Rayner, Captain Atom, Metamorpho, Blue Devil, Deadman, Animal Man....I could go on.

No.

Pine is Hal Jordan.
Nah. I said a long time ago that Hal'd be a big step down for Pine. He's got nothing to gain from playing a character said by many to be similar to Kirk, but non-iconic, wearing a silly looking mask, and associated w/one of the most expensive/least profitable/most disliked superhero flops ever. They're unlikely to find anybody notable that's in a hurry to take on a role that even Ryan Reynolds won't touch anymore. Choosing Trevor over Hal is a logical choice. WW needs as much star power as it can get. I think Pine'll make an awesome Steve Trevor!!!

Some of the responses in this thread are so crushingly disappointing and reminds me why I should never expect pure goodness from people. I'm delighted when people are good and not just good enough.

How dare WB cast the great and mighty Chris Pine to be a superhero love interest?! How DARE they put him in the same class as Amy Adams, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman, Maggie Gylenhaal, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Connelly? HOW DARE THEY?!????

I heard the mic drop and it was a glorious sound.

"Crushingly disappointing"? "Pure goodness"?

Huh?

This is just another example of why I mistrust WB in their handling of the DCCU. I already had severe reservations about Gadot as Wondy, and now Chris Pine is being used for a character who has only been mildly important to the JL mythos over the years. He hasn't always even been written as Wondy's love interest; sometimes (as with the New 52), he's been a liaison for her. That doesn't strike me as the best use of Pine's talents.

Yes, I would have liked Pine for Hal since not having DC's Big 5 set in stone at this point is very questionable. But we don't even know for sure that Pine was offered that role. I can get over that, but I mentioned numerous DC characters that have more history than Trevor which would have been a better use for Pine. For that matter, I would have been excited had he been cast as Ares.
