yea poni if you see this thanks for all the updates/pictures you been able to score. i really wish i could get out to new orleans. But sucks in western ny and no money to trip.

so is that just a temporary logo for GL? or is that the real thing?

And yes, The Mummy Returns made money and that had horrible visual effects. Am to say, that the visual effects in that movie didn't matter either, despite the budget and being a big tentpole?

CGI has this nature of aiming for 'real' physics, mass, and weight while stop motion/model work/matte paintings of the old days got away from it because of their limitations, history and charm.

So that's why people are hard on CGI: if it sucks, then it looks like lightweight and plastic. If it rocks, it looks real and has real weight. Even if it doesn't look 100% real, it has to have sort tangibility.

I love CGI, when it's done right.

Well, Sony Imageworks is gonna have plenty of time to prep what for what needs to be done during filming and during post.

They better get their crap together for this GL film and produce good CGI effects!

I see what you are saying and I understand the appreciation (yours and others) of superior quality CGI. The real question that I am sure film makers ask themselves is how much quality is needed to satisfy my audience? That is the real question and by the box office results it is quite evident that superior quality is not needed to have a good (as in popular) film (although the combination of scripting and casting do matter maybe even more). Although we may very well be getting that (or possibly better), I don't belive that "Avatar" quality graphics is needed to make Green Lanten a good movie (as in a classic).
 
yea like others have said, its probably just what they are using for production materials and the real logo will probably be slightly different later in the film.
 
This is probably my most anticipated movie period, and I wasn't even much of a green lantern fan until about a year ago, when I read all of geoff johns and peter j. tomasi's green lantern stuff. Now, he's definitely one of my favorite heroes.

I believe that green lantern has the potential to be one of the BIG ones, ala batman, superman, spider-man, wolverine, but the key is how good this movie is. If it's a classic, then green lantern is going to explode. The worst thing that could happen is if it's just mediocre. Then, there isn't as much desire to reboot it and try again, and the general public would just view green lantern as 'meh' or even nerdy. However, I really doubt that's going to be the case. Martin Campbell is a phenomenal director, and they've lined up an amazing cast and crew. After seeing kick-ass, I'm almost positive mark strong is going to deliver a AAA performance as sinestro. I find myself checking this site several times a day for updates on green lantern. This movie cannot come fast enough.

the cool thing about the airport that they're using for Air Ferris is that it's next to a lake. I guess it'll be the ocean in the movie. (like how Lake Michigan because the Atlantic Ocean for Chicago's Gotham)
 
sweet jet, and yea i agree the lake next to airfield will probably be dubbing for the ocean.
