Yeah I don't know anyone who doesn't like J'onn. Clearly we're seeing a case of dementia brought on by tragic choco deprivation.
Well, I'm not fan of the character, I would not have killed him, ... but I think he is as boring as useless. I disagree with Corpulent : I do not think there is a lot of interest about J'onn. Well, the fact that he had different series does not prove this point, IMO. It proved that editors might have thought that he could interest people, right, and in the end, not enough to have his own serie. I think Corpulent makes a valid point talking about JL: New Frontier, but ... (even if it was well handled) I thought he was interesting until the moment he began to fight for "his new home". I was bored by him more than anything.
I've always seen him as a clone of Superman, but less cooler. In the cartoon, I liked him for the first time : first, his powers were different from Superman, then he made good use of it, he was not just hitting things. But then again, the dynamic within the team was excellent, which is not the case right now in a JLA book.
Anyway, what I mean is that I do not think J'onn J'onz is a very interesting character. Maybe he has a potential, but the only utility he had, IMO, was to be a living communicator in the JL missions. And of course, G.Morrisson made him cool. But he made everyone cool at the time.
Don't flame me Corpulent, but I like and enjoy the way they are writing him in smallville. The guy is a cop (already in the comics) which is fine and exciting, and as a martian he traveled across the universe and met and saw a lot of things including kryptonians. I like that. I'm not saying it is THE way to go, but it might be A way to go. it help rejuvenite the character, I think.
I don't get why people love Arkillo so much, personally. He's the anti-Kilowog. All he really exists for, as far as I'm concerned, is for Kilowog to kick his ass whenever the GLC and the Sinestro Corps fight.
Well, an anti-Kilowog is fun, IMO. And Since the last issue of GLC, he can have a pivotal place in the future of Mongul, which is, by my standards, a reason to like the character. So maybe he was the anti.Kilowog but now, his role has evolved. I do not loooove Arkillo, but I think it is cool to have a big tank in the ranks, even more if he can catch against Mongul ! I do not see him as an anti-Kilowog, that would reduce the role of Kilowog to "the tank of the GLC" and that is not true.
