I actually dug the return of Parallax. Sinestro seemed genuinely "afraid" of what Hal did. Sure, it could be jealousy, but he knows more about the roach than even Hal. At first I eyerolled at the seemingly pointless scene with Carol. I mean, her loving Hal isn't any great reveal, and since when do villians stand around while the heroine kisses the hero? It was contrived and stupid, the "oh my love, one last kiss!" trope. And everything conveniently stopped for the touching moment.
Unless...
Carol actually did something to Hal's psyche, using love as a possible tether to get him free if this Parallax thing goes bad (and I suspect it will). Her expression seemed to be one of apprehension and hope at the same time.
And on to Parallax.
This will be bad. One, because the roach learns from his mistakes and won't be easily tricked again. Two,
Hal willingly gave himself up this time. So instead of possession we might have full intergration into a new being.
And note the speech bubbles. All parallax, unlike the other times (even Rebirth). There's also the scary possibility that Hal is actually part parallax anyway, or the perfect vessel. And all these mergings can't be a good sign. Ominous words that he's
protecting Coast City this time. The roach seemed to enjoy bondage before merging again, shrieking and squeeing. What a happy "O" face when Hal approached!
"With pleasure."
BTW, is Carol the embodiment of the Sapphires? Her speech bubble is different than WW's, who appears normal. Just get rid of the stripper pole costumes and I'm cool with it. I mean seriously, rubber pasties in battle?
