Yeah this issue really fell flat to me also. It's all becoming rather shoehorned and awkward.

Parallax comming back is rather dumb. How is the SPIRIT OF VENGANCE scared of the almighty fear space cockroach?

No it's just that they can't defeat the Spectre with just being Lanterns. They needed an edge, so Hal became Parallax.

Good issue to be honest. Loved the Scarecrow moments.

I think they will explain why the Spectre fears Parallax so much in BN 7. I thought it was entertaining and you can't have a GL event with out Parallax. He was in Zero Hour, Final Night, Rebirth, Sinestro Corp war (Possessed Kyle), and BN. If they abused the use of Hal tapping into Parallax, then it wouldn't be special. I thought this was more than just a side story like the other GL titles have been since the BN event.

I just don't know what happen with Ronnie Raymond and Jason Rusch. Was Jason officially seperated from BL Firestorm or inbetween? It seemed like Jason is still in limbo.

I fail to see the disappointment with this issue. Sure, it was a setter-upper issue, but those are necessary. Solicitations spoiling the outcome for you should be no excuse. Could the cover have more discreet, yes. It probably would have made more sense on the next issue rather than the rainbow vomit we are getting again. All in all though, pretty solid issue. We had Hal reusing the stake of light technique from Final Crisis, an acknowledgment that that series did in fact take place. It had a lot of action. Hal quoted Empire and for ****'s sake, Luthor's "S'mine." was possibly the quote of the 21st century. B+

I actually dug the return of Parallax. Sinestro seemed genuinely "afraid" of what Hal did. Sure, it could be jealousy, but he knows more about the roach than even Hal. At first I eyerolled at the seemingly pointless scene with Carol. I mean, her loving Hal isn't any great reveal, and since when do villians stand around while the heroine kisses the hero? It was contrived and stupid, the "oh my love, one last kiss!" trope. And everything conveniently stopped for the touching moment.

Unless...

Carol actually did something to Hal's psyche, using love as a possible tether to get him free if this Parallax thing goes bad (and I suspect it will). Her expression seemed to be one of apprehension and hope at the same time.

And on to Parallax.

This will be bad. One, because the roach learns from his mistakes and won't be easily tricked again. Two, Hal willingly gave himself up this time. So instead of possession we might have full intergration into a new being.

And note the speech bubbles. All parallax, unlike the other times (even Rebirth). There's also the scary possibility that Hal is actually part parallax anyway, or the perfect vessel. And all these mergings can't be a good sign. Ominous words that he's protecting Coast City this time. The roach seemed to enjoy bondage before merging again, shrieking and squeeing. What a happy "O" face when Hal approached!

"With pleasure."

BTW, is Carol the embodiment of the Sapphires? Her speech bubble is different than WW's, who appears normal. Just get rid of the stripper pole costumes and I'm cool with it. I mean seriously, rubber pasties in battle?

this issue was kinda meh to me. not a lot of content, and it was just filler to build up to parallax, which they could of done in a mere few pages. and with parallax on the cover which we've seen as a solicitation for months, the pay off was weak.
I completely agree with you on that.. Half of the issue was just random texts, people saying what they usually say. I noticed that a lot with G. Johns' writing.

Luthor's "S'mine." was possibly the quote of the 21st century. B+
I completely fail to see the "quote of the century". It was automatic talk, for me.

Hopefully we'll find out why very soon.

Maybe the full potential of the entities haven't been used yet. I'm taking a guess and saying that only the combined powers of the entities will stop Nekron, or they combine into the White Lantern, o no I'm drifting off into a fan-fic!!:wow:

First the Black Lantern Corps rose from the Crypt on Oa decimating the planet and many Lanterns in their horrific path.
Then Kyle Rayner’s brush with death and a Black Lantern ring resulted in Guy Gardner being blinded by great rage as he transformed into a Red Lantern killing machine.
All this tragedy and devastation led to the collapse of the Green Lantern Central Power Battery.

How could writer Peter J. Tomasi and artist Patrick Gleason make things any worse for our Emerald Warriors?
How about the return of one of the greatest threats the DC Universe has ever known: THE ANTI-MONITOR?

Say what you will Corp, but I love it every time this guy shows up.

Then I will say that you are a philistine and the Womp Nation website is of very poor overall quality. :argh:

Let's not talk crazy. Plus, this is his third time showing up in nearly 3 decades. He's hardly over exposed.

Im with Corp, ANTI-MONITOR, again? wasnt he like just in SCW?

Anti-Monitor, really? -_-

He may have only shown up once or twice before, but he's such a huge presence, it's like he shows up WAY more often. And it's not a good thing.

I just think he's had his run. I mean, you change the whole bloody multiverse once, that's gotta be enough. Same problem Superboy Prime had, really. He had his one good turn in Infinite Crisis (although he bugged me already by then), and then Johns just would not. Stop. Using him.

Dude already established himself as like this ungodly giant threat to anybody and everybody everywhere at any given time.

Using him more and more cheapens his intimidating factor each and everytime you pull him out.

What'd be awesome would be if they brought back some of the ballin' cosmic **** DC came up with in the late 90s/early 00s. Just go like "alright let's go through the resurrect the dead checklist we've got Sue Dibny, Ralph Dibny, Sonny Sumo, oh and btw ****ing Mageddon"

and that crazy zombie time-***** from the Kelly JLA!

Oh man, they should've brought back the Wonderworld heroes. Imagine a f***ing Black Lantern Adam One. :hehe:
