I'm really hoping the Brightest day book is not gonna be too connected to the Green Lantern books. I don't wan't to buy and read a book about charecters I don't care about to enjoy the storyline in books I love.

Nah you got nothing to worry about. Johns knows how to write great events withouth the need of forcing tie-in issues as necessary. ;) GL is about the different Corps being curious about the White Lantern battery and whatnot whatnot. Brightest Day is about the 12 resurrected characters.

BRIGHTEST DAY shines its light on a new "Emerald Dawn"!

In the wake of BLACKEST NIGHT, the Green Lantern Corps Honor Guard has expanded to include John Stewart and former Guardian Ganthet. Can the new immortal Green Lantern and the legendary Marine help Kyle Rayner suppress the growing threat within their ranks?

- DC Comics

GL was fine. I enjoy Atrocitus, so it is always cool to see him. I found a bit redundant to see Hal lift the battery again, especially with special effect like hell ... when Carol had just one pic. Strong man, weak woman -> :( That is the vibe I got from this.

But GLC was excellent! Well written, and the art was more than ok. At last John Stewart will be in the spotlight. I loved the long and clever talk of Ganthet with the Guardians. That was the best part. Having Ganthet in the ranks is original and great IMO. And it can bring a lot of good stuff, knowledge about a lot of things, powerful, etc...

I love Atrocitus is just constantly spewing blood in those preview pages. Can't take him anywhere lol

Yeah, John and Ganthet are pretty much taking his place as the "main" stars, along with Kyle.

Which when you think about it will be neat in some regard. I always loved Kyle and Ganthet moments.

Yeah, Ganthet's off to a great start already. I love that he forged his own brand-new GL ring rather than just accepting an existing ring and that he's the Lantern for sector 0, which I don't think has ever had a Lantern before, what with Oa being right there.

I think he is more or less doing this to show the Guardians that even though they are very powerful they still have to be connected with the Corps on some level. I think we are going to start to see the Guardians take a step back and just start to rethink things they have done for the past like 2,000 years.

Interview with Tony Bedard about Green Lantern Corps

Your Big 3 in the book are Kyle, John and Ganthet. Now that you've had some time writing them, can you share your thoughts about your approach with each of them? Do you find yourself learning more about each of them every issue?

Kyle was someone I enjoyed from the moment Ron Marz introduced him. He's such an atypical GL recruit in that he's just an ordinary guy who happened to be in the right place at the right time. He's like what would happen if one of us got the ring, and what we found is that he had depths of courage and nobility that Kyle himself never dreamed of. I also loved the dynamic that Grant Morrison set up between Kyle and Wally when he was writing "JLA." Kyle has a great sense of humor and an upbeat attitude. And the ladies like him. He's definitely the GL you'd most want to have a beer with.

Where Kyle is outgoing and wears his heart on his sleeve, John is more turned inward. His still waters run deep, though, and he's the character I most want to explore and define. His background as both an architect and a Marine sniper sets up a yin/yang internal tug of war. Is he the builder or the destroyer? Naturally, he's both, but not knowing which side will win out in a conflict makes him unpredictable and fascinating.

Ganthet is the guy who knows everything and yet is a novice when it comes to his awakening emotions. It'll be fun to see personal growth in someone who has been around since the dawn of time. And he's got a whole badass Yoda vibe, so that's fun too.

Ganthet is my main point of interest in Bedard's run, but I'm glad Kyle won't lose his spotlight. It'll be nice to see someone at least try to do something with John, too. Not sure whether Bedard will make him better or worse, but at least he won't just be "that other GL in Hal's book" anymore.

I'm gonna miss Kilowog in the Corps, but Hannu's a pretty good spiritual replacement. I love that he's such a tough guy that, when given the greatest weapon the universe has ever seen, he goes, "Meh, I'll stick to my fists." :funny:

That's just bad ass right there. I'm really interested to see where this whole "Alpha Lantern" thing goes with John.

Haha, I hope Lobo kicks everyone's ass, then heads to Oa and kicks everyone's ass there, then punches Superman in the face just for kicks. DC's comics need more Lobo all around. :hehe:

Ahhhh. Lobo. When will you and Larfleeze get your own variety hour?

I truly hope he uses his new weapon.

Lobo and Hal could have a game show..."Who wants to get punched in the face??"

Two really good issues, this franchise just knows where its going and thats awesome. We had great character moments all around this month. I hate Jade soooooo much.

I am so ****ing bored with Green Lantern.

Which is really disappointing, because a year ago I was all about it. And three years ago when they started this longass story I was even more so.

But goddamn am I sick and tired of all this stuff. Feels like a chore to read it instead of fun.
