I agree SouLeSS, Blackest Night really drained me of any fun I was having reading GL.

Just wake me when all the other lanterns go away again.

I've only ever read GLC, and I'm still finding it quite enjoyable. I miss Guy, but Ganthet and John bring a fresh and interesting new tone to the whole series. Granted, this developing subplot of Kyle being with Soranik but secretly wanting Jade is both stupid (because Jade sucks) and too soap opera-ish, but it's not too bad yet. I like that Bedard isn't even trying to play like the Alpha Lanterns were ever a good idea, too. They're outright villains in this arc, as they should be. Horrible idea the Guardians had there.

Yeah I dropped GL for just GLC a while ago. I feel it's too early to judge Bedards run, but I like this writing so I'm sticking with it.

I think G.Johns is getting better with the dialogues. the issue was not so boring, Hal was pretty fun, but the storyline ... is ... well ... a bit boring. I think I would have preferred the entities to be lost in space instead of on Earth. I keep being fan of Atrocitus even if I feel he is not used as he should be.

Jesus, the Cat story. A kitten crying? That's actually the saddest thing ever. ever.

Y'know I actually wanted to tear up reading that, poor thing only wanted to be a good kitty...

Am I a bad person for cheering Dex-Starr to find the person that murdered his owner and burn that scum with some hot plasma justice?

And what actually happens to a Red Lantern if they can get rid of the source of their rage?

That would seem the cruelest cut of all...

NefCanuck

Yeah I did too. I'm hoping that's exactly what happens, I hope he burns slowly :yay:.
THat's a good question about the source of rage.

Felt the same. Hurt a good bit as a cat owner.

I found the story of the cat ... "correct", but I could not care less about it. A cat losing his master ... right, ok. I usually like those "files of the Corps" but not this one.
And I am fed up to have 3 or 4 pages with a preview of another book. I hate it. Make me want to buy the TPB instead.

About the source of rage, I think it is consuming them even more and feeding them with rage even more. To burn the guys would wanted to kill the cat and have revenge, in my opinion, KILL the rage.

Did I miss an issue of GLC? The last one I read had [blackout]cyborg superman[/blackout] on the last page reveal.

Oh, he's the guy who's already drawing covers for GLC, isn't he? I like his art (even though he draws one of the worst crab-masks on Kyle).

Also, is that Animal Man as a White Lantern?

Nah the covers are done by the current artist Ardian Syaf. Animal Man appears as a White Lantern in the "Untold tales of the Black Lanterns" so it might be those event-aftermath books. Like Final Crisis had plenty of those.

Oh, I guess he might've been one of the re-resurrected heroes who became White Lanterns, but we just didn't see him in BN proper...

Yeah he had like 2 pages worth of cameos. :p One as a Black Lantern and other as a White Lantern.

@Geoff Johns' DC Focus LIVE! panel

Asked after how he approached rewriting Hal Jordan's past in Green Lantern to "fix" somewhat illogical pieces of the character's past, Johns said "I just looked at everything Hal went through and the history of the Green Lantern Corps...for me it was all one big tapestry." He compared his work to Grant Morrison's Batman run in that everything that's happened to the character counts for them emotionally.

Johns says the one thing he doesn't like about writing is just being in a room in front of a computer. Going to a dark place to write about Black Hand was not a good time and took a lot of work on his part. He says sometimes he felt like he needed a shower afterwards.

"Green Lantern: Secret Origin II" is on tap for the future, of which Johns said "It'll be about Sinestro. Ivan Reis is going to draw it. I don't know when it'll come out but sometime next year.''

The question Hal was supposed to ask Sinestro in Rage of the Red Lanterns will finally get asked sometime this year.

As soon as he got involved into the idea of the emotional spectrum, writing Hal was easy says Johns.

The Indigo Tribe will show up in GL #59 and we'll learn more about them and see Black Hand.

One of our smaller fans wrote a 3-page Guy Gardner Blackest Night comic and wants Johns to incorporate it into a real comic. Johns said, "Just for you, we absolutely will."

Johns gives Ethan Van Sciver a lot of credit for Krib. They were originally going to use her in Iron Heights but couldn't fit her.

There will be consequences for Mogo and all those Black Lanterns buried inside him.

If there comes a time when Johns has to leave GL, Berganza believes it will only be when he retires. Johns says he has never thought about leaving.

The Green Lantern movie costume has come up. Johns said it will not have nipples. He says when you see it in motion and the final actual costume, he has faith that the purists will be very happy.

Johns spoke about making "Blackest Night" like a zombie movie and how he sits around his apartment thinking about how he might be able to escape a real life zombie attack. "I've got two windows I could board up in about five minutes, and I've got a gas grill on my balcony that I could make food off of for a few months, so I'd be set," he joked.
Green Lantern Kilowog is in the upcoming GL movie and according to Johns "He looks amazing. He looks just like Kilowog."

Another young fan asked after any more origin tales being done like was done with Dex-Star, and Johns said that the big red head Red Lantern would be done next. William "Black" Hand will be the focus of the next issue of "Green Lantern" where the Indigo Tribe's origins and motives would be under the microscope.

Asked if he had to choose between a "Sinestro Corps War" or a "Blackest Night" animated movie, Johns said, "'Sinestro Corps War' because then I can do the sequel!"

Green Lantern was a major theme returned to by fans asking questions about the movie and who would appear. Parallax will be in it, but when asked about Kyle Rayner, Johns said he didn't want to give away anything else except to say "Our goal is not to do one Green Lantern movie...I'd love to get to everybody in there."

Asked after the Twitter-proposed crossover between Green Lantern and Marvel's Iron Man that he and Matt Fraction were batting about, Johns responded to the question of "Who do we pray to to make that happen?" with "I don't know...maybe Odin?" He then said, "I would love to see Hal Jordan in Iron Man's armor because he'd kick ass in it, and I'd love to see Tony Stark trying on Green Lantern's ring because he'd suck at it."

Johns will work on the upcoming November 2011 "Green Lantern" animated series, of which he said "It's CGI and it's the whole Corps and a lot of other familiar faces."

Comic-con info:
- Bedard says it was very intimidating taking over Green Lantern Corps from Peter Tomasi. He says in his Alpha Lantern arc he wanted to explore how much of the characters are still in there.
- Bedard says a new villain, the Weaponer, will be revealed in the second arc and is the person who forged Sinestro's power ring.
- Johns says we'll be learning more about the entities coming up. Hal finds Larfleeze breaking and entering into houses on Earth. (ITS BECAUSE HIS ORANGE, ISN'T IT?!)
-In November 2011 there will be a new CGI animated Green Lantern series on Cartoon Network.
- Johns says some of the entities are positive and some are not but some might be unexpected.
- Johns says he plans his books two or three years in the future but with Green Lantern it's longer. He likes mythology and introducing new characters.
- We will be seeing the use of Black and White Lanterns more in the future as opposed to more deputized Lanterns.
- Johns mentioned his Dex-Starr Valentine's special again and fans are excited.
- Reis will be working on a Sinestro Secret Origins with Johns.(Called it!)
- Bedard says Sinestro's daughter will be in danger soon with the Weaponer.
- Johns says that long awaited Dex-Starr/Krypto fight is what the Valentine's Day special is all about.
- Johns says Carole Ferris has a pretty major change in Green Lantern #57.
- Bedard says Vril Dox will be bringing in Lobo, who now has a Red Lantern ring, in to help deal with his father in R.E.B.E.L.S.
- Johns says there will be a White Lantern oath revealed in Brightest Day.
- Johns says the character who Dex-Starr is on a mission to kill is not a character we've seen before.
- Johns says John Stewart's background is split. Bedard thinks both sides work well together.
- Johns revealed when the White Ring creates a construct it's there forever.

A fan asked if Bruce Wayne "would be rejecting any more power rings, like he did in 'Sinestro Corps War.'" "You will see something, actually," Johns said.

Ardian Syaf's run on "Green Lantern Corps" was planned as a brief run to give Tyler Kirkham time to begin his arc and because Syaf could do it in addition to "Brightest Day." "There will be more plans for Ardian," Berganza said.
