The funny thing is that I went to see the movie in Memphis,Tn. No one left during DP and people actually cheered and laughed at the end when they kicked his ass.

What were you expecting from QT, it wasn't Kill Bill which had the intention from the start to be an action film. Tarantino's films have always been dialogue orientated, thats his speciality, Kill Bill didn't work alot of the time because he isn't an action director

but theres a difference between long drawn out dialogue that is entertaining, engaging, and relevant to plot and character (which is the case with most QT films). but in death proof....its just long boring conversations that are hardly entertaining, certainly not engaging, and have little to nothing to do with either plot or character.

As I said I havn't seen it yet so I can't comment on how engaging the dialogue actually is, but is it really boring enough to call it a 'snooze fest'??

Planet Terror was the better movie, but anyone who didnt think Death Proof was hillarious is a fool...also, I would see every fake movie they advertsided during it in a second, especially Werewolf Women Of The SS (Nic Cage as Fu Manchu...bwa ha ha ha ha), and Machete :o

yeah, it kinda is. when the car stuff actually kicks in its super rad and sort of makes it all worthwhile....but theres no reason it couldnt have been awesome all the way through.

QT is known for his GREAT dialogue but here it is BAD dialogue. Trust me, you're gonna be bored. Especially after watching Planet Terror and the fake trailers which were awesome!

Yes, yes it is!

I would see every fake movie they advertsided

Same here! I think the trailers were better than the actual movie. Have you seen the Kentucky Fried Movie? Its the same thing. The trailers were actually better than the actual movies. lol. :D

It's only an hour as well, it must be really boring to disconnect you in such a short time.

Could it also be the actors as well, Tarantinos been fortunate enough to get some extremely talented actors portraying his dialogue and they always bring something exciting to it.

Is KFM worth watching?

Hell yeah! Its an old movie from 1977, directed by John Landis (Animal House) and written by the guys who gave us Airplane, Naked Gun, etc.

The problem with the movie is that the dialogue is pointless. In other Tarantino flicks there is a point to the dialogue. Like in Kill Bill when Bill tells Kiddo about Superman. There was a point to that. In, Death Proof, its completely pointless and boring.

For me, the Grindhouse was like driving an old but beautiful vintage sports car 100mph through Planet Terror screaming FRICK YA! then suddenly hitting a 100ft thick brick wall at that same speed through Death Proof. Lets say it didnt feel good ..... Loved Terror hated Proof.

Awesome!

I've heard that people left after Planet Terror was over not knowing that it was two different movies. They thought that was it.

Also I haven't seen the movie yet, so could someone tell me right before they played the fake trailers, did they show a message saying "That trailers are not real" or something like that? I work in a video store and I get questions on trailers that play on DVDs that people rent and if that kind of message didn't pop up, people are gonna think that those are real movies.

I remember then playing one fake trailer before the first film and two between the other one. The telltale sign is the off color and voice overs typical of early 70s trailers ... done perfectly .... almost too perfectly :P

None of the fake trailers stated within the trailers themselves that they were fake.

no, there was no message about the trailers not being real...but if anyone thinks that Werewolf Women of the SS or Don't or ESPECIALLY Thanksgiving would ever really be made, they're a certifiable ******...and Machete is rumored to actually be coming as a direct to dvd, low budget movie...

I finally got to see Grindhouse today, and it was definitely an experience. Great films! I thought I would hate Death Proof after hearing many people saying it was boring. IMO, that was a fantastic film (scary at a couple parts, too). I loved the long conversations and the suspense during the car scenes. Planet Terror was also great (hilarious, gross, and fun).

I really don't think the general public 'get' what Grindhouse is supposed to be about. Some people were walking out during the opening advertisements, confused and many left after 'Planet Terror' not realizing there was another film, lol. Hopefully it has legs or does big on DVD...it deserves it

Yeah, Machete already has 45 minutes in the can. It will be completed soon. I hope they make movies based on the other trailers. I would love to see Thanksgiving. That was my favorite trailer.

Is there credits at the end of planet terror, or does the film finish and it goes straight to the trailers?

So, whats the deal with Deathproof and Planet Terror being seperated? Kindof early to be seperating the movies. Kindof caught me off guard when I was looking at what was coming out at my local theatre.
Guess they figured they make more money if seperated, and maybe see who ppl wants to see more?

*just read someones post got me thinking, maybe ppl infact didn't know there were two movies, and maybe thats why their splitting up the movies...

Planet Terror > Deathproof imo.....PT was corny, but entertaining and fun. DP had better quality, but a tad slower. Car scene at end w/girl on the hood was well done...

actually, theres an old trilogy of grindhouse films called the ilsa trilogy, and i believe one of them was called: Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS

I was just watching Tarantino on Carson Daly (:o ) and he said that opening weekend he sneaked into a few theaters to see the audience reaction. And, after Planet Terror was over some kids behind him said, "wow! best movie of the year" then left. lol. They didn't even see his movie. lol.
