The Official Henry Cavill Thread

It's like Superman stepped right out of the comic book pages.
I can not express in words how badly I want for Cavill to get the part.
A good actor and he looks the part IMO down to perfection.

I am warming up to the idea of Cavill playing Superman. I have just recently watched a few episodes of The Tudors, and I am loving his acting ability. Just out of curiosity though, how tall is he?

What ive read and heard is he's 6"2 especially seeing pictures when he is standing next to say a guy that listed at 6" or 6"1, you can see he's barely taller so i would say 6"2

standing next to 5'10 JRM

I'm such a noob, I thought those guys were one person, it's like seeing Clark and Superman together at the same time. No wonder I wasn't sold on Cavill, I was looking up pictures of JRM.

Hes 6'1, maybe 6'1 1/3 if we're being pedantic.

Meyers almost always wears heeled shoes to make himself look taller on screen & when on red carpets & he still looks about 3 inches shorter than him in that picture ^^

Essentially the height Superman should look is somewhere in the region of 6'2 & certainly no taller than 6'4 otherwise he'd stick out like a sore thumb. But you could cast a guy that's 6'1/6'5, honestly no one would be able to notice an inch difference on screen with heels & camera angles.

I don't think height is an issue with Cavill. They just need to cast the right people around him. He definitely has the acting chops and look.

If Cavill gets cast (and I hope he does), girls will flock to this movie. ;) Not sure if some of the other choices will really pull in the women...

First, you get Cavill, then, you get the costume, then, you get the women!

I'd be fine with Henry Cavill, there are a few actors I'd be fine with I just don't want Hamm

RE: his height - Yeah, he's always quite a bit taller than JRM in the Tudors, and yes, JRM wears footwear to make himself taller on that show as well. I'd say Cavill is between 6'1" and 6'2", and as I've said, I think anyone 6'0" and over would be fine for the role, height-wise. So that wouldn't be an issue with him at all. You can particularly tell in candids where, even if he's not the tallest person in the photo, he's always ONE OF the tallest.

Here's a (ridiculously long) candid video I found of him standing around an airport, so you can see him around people of all heights. And aside from a few tall guys who pop up in the background, he's taller than most of the people in it, and easily taller than the "average" sea of people there, so 6'1"-6'2" looks right on the money:

It would be a piece of cake for anyone to make him look like the tallest person in the room on screen. Definitely not a problem.

Hes around 6"1 to 6"2 or somewhere in between, although with his build and stature he seems taller, very similar to that of Routh who is only 6"3 but with his build i thought he was 6"5 or taller.

I'm very much growing to like the idea of Cavill as Supes. He's one of the most well-rounded choices, as he has talent, charisma, height, a solid build, and a good look. He's not lacking in any area, at least not in any noteworthy way IMO. If he doesn't get the part, then I'll be okay with it (as long as they get someone good), but it would be a shame if they didn't consider him at all, especially if it's for something as ridiculous as him not being American.

Bats and Supes are very often drawn similarly so it's not like we're associating him with such a radically different character. Cavill just has the quintessential superhero look; tall, handsome, chiseled, dark hair. Just so happens that Bats and Supes fit this bill.

I could easily see him as either character, though at this point and time I would definitely prefer him to play Supes simply because it's a much harder role to cast.

I feel the same way, even thought Bruce was a better looking version of Superman sometimes. His face here made me think of being lit from the cape, kind of.

Need to find a new background tho, I don't wanna put him back in the alley.

I agree about the height. 6'0, 6'1's OK with me if they look the part, can act, etc. I don't need Superman to be that huge, like 6'5 or anything like that.

I wonder what his chances are I just don't know with Zak Snyder

CAVILL DAMN IT! He is, by far, the actor with the most positive attributes.
He's head and shoulders above the rest.

I always really really liked that picture. if that is exactly how he looks in the movie i would be happy

Right now, Cavill is my top choice, if they are not going to bring back Routh.

Cavill has the Superman looks, can act and is the right age and can get into Shape easily.

6' 1 is good height, using camera angles and shoes he can look taller.

Cavill looks a lot lot better than most of the candidates being suggested in the Casting thread, who look like a thug, or look sinister and creepy.

So, the choices are (in order) Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer.

Please keep Jon Hamm away from Superman.
