The Official Iceman/Shawn Ashmore X3 Thread

No I didn't notice that. I think that the look is similar because he is realizing his world is changing. In X2 he was leaving his family and now it is probably that he is going to war and he or one of his friends might not be coming back alive.

Does anyone know if Iceman's family will make a cameo appearance in X3?

It just seemed like that whole incident at his house in Boston was never really resolved, aside him jumping in the jet and leaving without saying goodbye. Maybe that's how Singer wanted to project how humans cope with the growing mutant population, and in his case, how parents of mutants deal with it.

I'm hoping they go back to that. I'd really like to see his relationship with his family now; how dramatically it's changed since his "coming out" in X2.

I don't think they will make a cameo because, like you said, I believe that Singer wanted to portray that families of mutants just abandoned them. After all if they parents cared don't you think that the parents would try to find their kids after they ran away and ended up at Xaivers. It seems like his family disowned him wanting nothing to do with mutants, even though they said they still love him. I don't know maybe they took his getting on the X-jet as choosing the X-men over them.

Maybe we see sort of montage of Rogue and Bobby's parents (and parents of other mutans) watching the news on the mutant cure?

I love that idea. Or seeing people that they used to know watching what they have become. Watching the rest of the world's take on their problems.

Or maybe they are watching what is happening at Alcatraz?

I think he is transparent till his x-suit

Another guess at how he turns to ice is if there's a situation where he has to focus and intensify his cold power, and he inadvertantly changes into ice as a side effect.

He coats himself in ice, he doesn't become an ice sculpture.

News flash, He does actually turn into ice read the comics. He becomes fully organic ice and can't be killed while in that form.

That could show some promise to it all. Showing how some mutants use their powers for the good of mankind. And that montage of human families watching it all on tv, or actually at the final battle, extending their support (to the good mutants), like they did for Spiderman vs. Green Goblin on the bridge, or in S2 right after he stops the train.

Typical of a Hollywood ending, but that would be a decent ending to the series... Everyone appreciating life, no matter how different they are..

I thought Iceman made like an Ice shell around his body and didn't actually turn inti ice. In the comics it doesn't look like he is a transparent block of ice...its more blueish.

Nope he turns into frozen water, not a ice shell. In the comics he's been decapitated in his ice form and survived. He's not flesh in ice form.

the problem with that die another day design is that the woman were cracking...

Hmmm....i'm not too sure about that. Would you take a tv crew to film that battle? WIth all those dangerous mutants?

yea yea, but they still look hot ! ...i mean very cold! imo i think iceman shoudl crack a little bit right after he ice ups just to give the effect that it would be his first ice up, or that hes breaking in, or something like that....im sure it will be sweet, this is one thing im sure will kick ass in this film.

Uh, it is ice........ Cracking and creeking is suppose to happen. That's what makes it more realistic (in an unrealistic world). If it wasn't there, you'd never know he was made of ice, and he'd wind up looking like Hollowman.

I mean, the same can be said about Colossus. Hardened steel isn't suppose to move, but he does.

Colossus' armor isn't really steel-steel as described by Marvel...Neither is Iceman's "ice" body (they refer to it as being, "ice-like"), which kinda bugs me a little bit to how they've chosen to explain how he's able to do what he does and still breathe and live normally...(A bit of a cop-out)

I don't even know if the effects for Bobby's ice-up were totally finished by the time of that set report taken from last year I think, so it's still a possibility of it being modified or changed a bit..

Iceman wasn't always an "ice"-man..

But it all depends (or depended) on which Iceman look from the comics that they're using (or have used) for inspiration...
