Fall of the Hulks: Alpha *Spoilers*

Just as an aside, I called it: Rulk is powered by a combination of gamma and cosmic energy. The clues were all there, and now it's confirmed.

Also, given that the Intelligencia completely conceived of Rulk without Ross' input, it's pretty evident now that Rulk is gonna be revealed as Ross. After all, why bother bringing him in? What other use would the Intelligencia have for Ross, really? They needed someone who's had continuous exposure to gamma radiation over the years, as well as someone who was "very much NOT" Banner. Ergo: Ross.

Also looks like Egghead and Doom are outta the group, from what I've skimmed over so far. That sucks, but maybe they'll be back for the event itself, since this issue is entirely past-tense.

Where does the cosmic energy come from? Is Rulk secretly the Silver Surfer's long-lost brother or something?

Right, like Poochie is gonna start being explained now.

Tyrannus returns! Manhattan crumbles! Moloids attack! And only Bruce Banner and the Son of Hulk can save the day! Unless, of course, Skaar decides to join the monsters...The first big storyline in the all-new "Incredible Hulk" comes to a senses-shattering climax as Bruce Banner discovers whether his take-your-savage-barbarian-son-to-work program has been a rousing success -- or the biggest disaster visited upon the Marvel Universe since "World War Hulk"! Plus: the All-New Savage She-Hulk's quest to find Jennifer Walters reaches its conclusion -- with a stunning twist!

So here's my question to you...

If you think Ross is Rulk... how was Ross present with Samson and the unconscious Rulk at the end of issue 6?

I've not really kept up with the book since issue 8 or so but i remember back then I was convinced it was Clay Quarterman. Has that been disproven yet?

I really don't know, the spoilers actually came from a random poster at CBR.

The link is right there under the spoilers. I pretty much left Hulk since issue 12.

Clay was considered a red Hulk suspect until they found his corpse. :ghost:

Did they actually find his corpse or just his outfit? Because if I'm remembering it correctly, only his outfit was found in the first arc.

ross cant be rulk, hes been seen way too many times around rulk, samson too. i still think hes glenn talbot, he was too good of a character to just let stay dead, and his beef with banner and hulk is very apparent.
i still remember back in the issue where rulk beat surfer and hulk and killed jarella, he mentioned banner took something away from him, now they were considered even after rulk killed jarella, or something like that.

Well, Ross and Samson could both be Rulk. Like in a Station from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey kinda way. And when we see them together with Rulk it's because they're, like, in his head or something. Unless they've all been together around other people and have interacted with them or whatever.

Tuesday Q&A: Jeph Loeb

14cgzyg.jpg

Marvel.com: How did the idea of Fall of the Hulks first come about? Did you and Greg and editor Mark Paniccia hash out all the details together or did one of you come in with the basic plan?

Jeph Loeb: They were like pieces of a giant jigsaw puzzle. Greg was working on the right side of the board with Banner and Skaar and the aftermath of Planet Hulk. While I was on the left side with the fallout of World War Hulk and the introduction of the Red Hulk. In the middle, Mark "Panic" Paniccia was juggling gamma bombs. Then we all got together last summer for a Hulk Summit along with Jeff Parker, Fred Van Lente and [assistant] editors Nate Cosby and Jordan White and crushed it all together.

Marvel.com: What can you say about the Intelligencia? What sort of role will they be playing in the upcoming storyline?

Jeph Loeb: They are the core of the story. The Intelligencia has been moving behind the scenes for years. This isn't a story that hinges on who is the strongest there is but who is the smartest? That puts Banner front and center. But when he's going up against minds like M.O.D.O.K. and Leader, who are allied in all this, it will have to come at a cost. What makes The Intelligencia so formidable, and Jeff Parker really nailed in ALPHA, is that these are a group of men who do not see themselves as "mad scientists" or "monsters," even though at face value they are horrific. They are more like Hannibal Lecter times five. Imagine being that smart and yet continually facing defeat. Their next move takes all their past lessons and finds a solution that makes them the most dangerous men in the Marvel Universe.

Marvel.com: How did you all go about deciding who should be on the Intelligencia? There are often debates among fans about who is smarter than who in comics. Were there any fun discussions between you and the other writers about who is the smartest there is?

Jeph Loeb: It's kind of a classic villain question. Strongest is something you can prove on any given day. But smartest? In some ways, it has to be a matter of who is making that decision. As we put the Intelligencia together, or as they put themselves together, these men certainly had proved to be extremely dangerous and had crossed paths at one time or another. We wanted a group who could move past the simplicity of wanting to kill their enemies and reach for a better world in their eyes. Its why this story could only take place now. The chain of events-Civil War, World War Hulk, Cap's assassination, the rise of Norman Osborn-the Marvel Universe is going to hell. These men see a chance to rescue the world and make it a better place. The scary part is that because they are so smart, they might not be wrong.

I wonder if they're smart enough to explain what the Wendigos were doing in Las Vegas.

Hang it up Obi. Loeb is not going to explain it. Just like he's not going to explain how the f*** Rulk is able to knock out a Watch or throw Mjolnir to the moon or Rick turning to A-bomb or all the other crap he's done.

I found that after the battle in 605. To be the most enjoyable for me.

[BLACKOUT]I'm always a sucker for father's being proud of their kids, even better when it has a little twist to things[/BLACKOUT]

"Oh. Please. Mighty Tyrannus. Don't kill my poor boy."

:hehe:

Hopefully that weaksauce Ginger-Hulk backup story is done.

Yeah Skaar seems to love to attack when everyone thinks he's done for the count. Other than the incident with Daken.

Although it wasn't mentioned I'm assuming the gamma has continued to increase in Bruce. I wish this whole dynamic wasn't coming to a end.

I'm not really interested in what goes on with Lyra

Better to end soon then stay too long. But it was refreshing to have Banner not be a victim anymore.
