FALL OF THE HULKS Conclusion! Years ago, the Hulk helped found the Avengers -- and then almost immediately smashed his way into becoming one of the Avengers' greatest nemesis. Now in the wake of the Intelligencia's crippling attack on the World's Mightiest Heroes, Bruce Banner's actually leading a group of Avengers -- but can he be trusted any more than his big green alter ego was back in the day? Plus, the reveal of the master plan of the Leader and M.O.D.O.K. and the true motivations of Skaar, Son of Hulk, in the stunning conclusion of the "Fall of the Hulks" and the shocking kickoff to the upcoming "World War Hulks" blockbuster! Plus: the conclusion of the Red She-Hulk backup story behind her first appearance!

So Betty's back, and she's unlikeable. [BLACKOUT]WHAT A TWIST.[/BLACKOUT] Also, Talbot is the same jerk he was back when Stan Lee wrote him.

Anyone else all out of "care" for this recent revelation? Pak's The Incredible Hulk has been kind of boring. At least in Hulk, Red Hulk does things, though it's still not that gripping.

Betty and Talbot are fakes. We all know it to be true. I mean you can't die and expect your man to remain celibate. This probably some clone who is unaware of the fate of the real Betty and its all a big mindf*** for banner.............again

I hope not. I miss Betty. She's been dead long enough. Besides we've lost too many Hulk mainstays. Ross is dead, Blonsky is dead, Rick is A-Bomb, Samson is a *****e now, Ive no idea what's up with Jennifer...

She got "replaced" with two lesser beings/characters. :(

The whole Hulk franchises is being run into the ground by Loeb. It's time to send him to an alternate universe permanently like they did with Claremont on X-Men Forever.

I'm hoping he means the Negative Zone. Or somewhere equally unpleasant. :argh:

I wonder if the changes to the Marvel superhero community will be extensive?

They'll all be back to normal within a month, I'm sure.

What changes? From World War Hulks? They won't last long, I'm sure, if they're even referenced outside of the WWH comics at all.

What do you mean by alternate universe?
X-Men Forever being an alternate universe where Claremont writes what he was '''going to do" (the truth being it's **** he came up with two minutes ago), before he left the X-Men title back with X-Men #3.

They need to do that with Loeb, maybe they should regulate him to Ultimate Universe storylines only. Do something, because he's nothing but a shell of his former self now.

But his comics still sell, so no one cares that the stories are horrible except us dumb fans who keep buying them.

I really appreciate the love of zany Kirby/Lee era stories Loeb has. I've been patient with the lack of answers. I've been waiting for the longest for character beats that would give me a reason to care for the current cast in these books. I've even been tolerant of the 100 illegitimate Hulk babies Banner seems to have been straddled with.

So all that said...if someone could please explain to me what the hell The Incredible Hulk #608 was about, I'd be grateful. 'Cause I really have no clue, and I'd like to, since I like the Hulk and I know Pak in particular can do better than he currently is.

What Loeb needs to stop doing is action flicks. I mean Commando was cheesily awesome, but in the comics he's pretty much instead of having Arnold being a badass, he has the artists draw whatever THEY want. Ultimate X #1 was really cool because it was character driven and not action oriented.

The ending to 608 confussed me.

Marvel.com claims Samson first got his powers by using a cathexis ray to drain the Hulk of gamma energy and transferring said energy into himself. So I guess the Intelligencia are doing the same thing, on a larger scale- shunting the Red Hulk's hybrid gamma/cosmic power from the rebuilt Helicarrier through satellites and into similarly minded volunteers around the world, which will take over the nation's capital and give them influence over entire continents. Somehow, the runoff mutates the ghetto Avengers roster Banner threw together plus the backup War Machine brought into gamma monsters, and now Banner's hooked up to that Amityville whatever-the-heck contraption that's keeping the world's biggest noggins out of the loop.

It wasn't that hard for me to get. I just don't like how rushed it felt. This could have been broken down into two or three more issues. Instead, we get the 30-Second Bunnies Theatre summary on how things brought us to World War Hulks. We still have all the loose ends from before, like the new She-Hulks, Hiro-Kala, and the Red Hulk's identity, and now we have new levels of randomness for the sake of setting up more action. We just started delving into some of these characters, and now we're back to people punching each other in the face. It's too much, too soon.

Betty sure likes punching people in the center of the face...ouch. :(
