The official INCREDIBLE Hulk thread...........

Yeah, he and Hiroim basically declared their love for each other before Hiroim died in a mini-series a couple years back.

They made it abundantly clear that the Hulk we saw fighting Skaar was NOT Bruce Banner.

I was under the impression that Banner took control of the Hulk at the very end when Skaar told him that Banner simply never understood the Hulk and realizing that he was just like his father.

Maybe they're not fully Professor Hulk, but Banner and Hulk are united in motivations again due to the emotional trauma of sorts? I'm not sure, either way, I'm happy that it seems like we'll have a smart hulk from here on out. (Shame ol' Savage is in Marvel Vs Capcom 3 :( )

It was nice. Made me all the more pissed when Hiroim died, but whatever.

Anybody else wish they'd given the new Hulk, whether it's Banner in control or just a moderately intelligent Hulk, some proper pants and shoes and such? He looks really weird with a utility belt and shorts.

Nah, I'm totally cool with it.

And it's Banner in complete control.

Yep, kind of a letdown, since I was really hoping to see Green Scar (who looked like he was back in the last TIH issue) fight Red Poochie. Apparently, though, Banner now controls Hulk in one of Jeph Loeb's famous unexplained status quo changes. Also, Poochie neglected to use his "loeb ex machina" energy drain powers on Hulk again for some (unexplained!) reason.

He's such a poor writer. :csad:

Since World War Hulks was a crossover between Hulk and Incredible Hulk, you would have to read the Incredible Hulk (the book starring Banner) on how he gained control of the Hulk. They show it pretty clearly.

I read it. They explain no such thing.

There's actually almost no reason to think the two issues are even part of the same storyline.

At the end of Incredible Hulk when Skaar tells Hulk that Banner just simply never understood the Hulk and then the Hulk saw himself in the role of Banner's abusive father is when Banner took control. They don't flat out say it, but they make it clear that that was when Banner took control.

Yes because Incredible Hulk dealt with Skaar and Banners' role in World War Hulks and Hulk dealt with Ross'. Why would it be the other way around? Why would they put Banner taking control of the Hulk in a book that isn't his?

Yay so Banner is in control of Hulk...wonder how long it'll last this time?

I'm quite happy with it. The Hulk's a worthless non-character to me in his savage incarnation. I would've probably preferred a somewhat more reasonable Green Scar, but Banner-Hulk is good too. He should keep using his forcefield tech. He'd be totally unstoppable.

Hulk is so much better when he's in control, like the Professor Hulk or Green Scar, but Marvel loves their dumbass hulk more i guess.

He's the more recognized version. It's a strong story element for a while--the cerebral, repressed scientist and his raging, monstrous id--but it gets really, really tiresome when you start getting into decades of it.

Thats the thing, its been nearly what, 50 years? and Banner still cant control the hulk? Its getting very monotonous at this point no? How about a change of pace for a while? Lemme guess "new readers will be confused if they see a smart hulk" right?

Which i'm happy about, but i dont see it lasting any longer than when the Avengers movie comes out. I'm saying it would be nice if that were the permanent status quo for a while.

Well, the Avengers movie doesn't come out for two years. That's about as permanent as things get in comics anyway.

Banner is in control fully; looking at previews he's not professor Hulk, while in Hulk#24 he's only Hulk, in 612 we see him in his modern Banner outfit on the beach while Betty hulks out and shreds her clothing. She then grabs Bruce and jumps off past a couple of buildings. I almost through she was getting him out of danger, but she proceeds to smash Bruce into a wall and the ground. Interesting note; he still has the Banner tech shield here.

I personally like this new direction and am not missing Savage one bit. For one, I wanted him gravage in MvC3 because he can better interact with people instead of yelling "[adjective] man/ woman!" Also, with Banner in control, you can write new and interesting challenges that focus on Banner's mental and physical strength, his relation with his family and the other MU. I mean really, look at Peter David's long (and great imo) run. Did anyone clamor for the Savage Hulk to come back? We've got something great here; the emotion and power and PAIN of the Scarr and Hulk fight was able to work because Hulk wasn't a simplified version of himself. He was able to emote and actually be interesting.

Going back to Savage for anything other than a flashback would be a mistake at this point,
