I don't know how that could be made to look practical on screen.

It's basically just nanotechnology. It's doable. I doubt we'll see it, though. The regular armor is so much...not cooler, but...appropriate for the concept.

uh a quick question, who's looking forward to IM2? :) I am... oh yeah baby.

It's pretty soon, but an Iron Man sequel is what I'm anticipating the most now. Meanwhile I can console myself rewatching this movie :)

It'd be hard to wait 2 years for IM2, but it'd be a bit easier once the DVD comes out so we can watch IM over and over.

I'm eager to see what they can do with an even bigger sfx budget and more confidence in the IM franchise now.

just watched at the cinemam well impressed think the endin cud hav been better tho. blatently gona b a great franchise if it carries on like this. just reviewed it on my new site http://ww.scifijunky.net if im not allowed to post that link SORRY delete it n pm me and i wont again (i'm new here)

bring on the :bh:

Speaking of the Iron Man dvd,I heard that a website has it listed for pre order already and that it would be coming out in October on dvd during the first week.

harlekin, did you feel an anti-war / anti-US military vibe when you watched IM?

some of the early reviews seem to suggest that that was a subtle theme or tone in the movie......

I'm really excited about the movie, but that might dampen my enthusiasm a bit.......

yep the definatley was a fairly big hint of that in the film. to b honest that made mr enjoy it even more

A few things I noticed when I saw it for the 3rd time tonight ...

1- Why did Tony have one of his BK hamburgers IN HIS POCKET during the press conference. He seriously pulled a burger OUT OF HIS SUIT JACKET! It was soo funny. But then I thought about having a warm greasy burger in your pocket and got kind of disgusted. But he still pwns

Third time round you shouldve noticed as he gets out of the car he takes the burger from the bag...in the time to walk from car to podium he could place burger in pocket.

2- A scene that I thought could have gone over well was that... Ok, you know how when Pepper pulls out his first chest piece, and afterwards she says 'Never make me do that again' (or something along those lines) ... Me and my friends agreed that it would have been cute if she had gone straight home after Obidius (sp?) left and she put the old one back in and said 'I thought you said you'd never make me do that again' all relieved. Could have been cute?

I agree and half expected it to be fair...shame..

3. Ignore this one unless you've seen Alien-->Does anyone else see the resemblance between the scene when Pepper and the SHIELD agents are looking for the Iron Monger in that dark room and he appears silhouette style from the chains to the scene in Alien where the crew member guy is searching for the cat and the Alien comes out at him from the chains? I thought it definitely had a resemblance!

I can see what you mean but in Alien the Alien drops from the roof...Iron Monger rises from the floor...but I can picture the scene you're talking about

4. Anyone know how the HELL Tony survived at the end when the blast killed Obadiah?? And Tony was more 'in the way' of the blast... He got blown away, but it pretty much hit him straight on.....

:) Good Movie even 3rd time around though. Man I love RDJ.

The EMP blast from the reactor sent Iron Man hurtling as his suit was lighter...Iron Mongers didnt move therefore he took the full brunt of the actual blast add that to the flames...Tony was on a ledge to the side of the vertically rising blast so didnt get hit with the flames but the EMP did take out his reactor...

One thing I do have to ask is....

When the hell was Nick Fury in it?I never saw Samuel L Jackson in the entire film but hes on imdb as him...

was there a scene cut out of it or something?or a small monitor that he was on?

Okay, so I'm a newbie on these boards, and I had to make my first post on this forum. I'm WTF, and I'm a total IM addict. I am a chick, but I'm a total comic book geek. I saw the movie on Saturday, and I've already bought two of the most current graphic novels, and I'm pestering my hubby to go see the movie again. RDJ was perfect as Tony, as numerous others have already stated before. Snarky, caddish, charming, vulnerable.

The movie rocked so very hard. The only weak spot for me was Pepper downloading the "secret" files . . . and Obadiah having absolutely no clue. But even I'm willing to overlook that simply because this movie had awesome acting, funny lines, and the best casting for any superhero movie.

For me, this was tied with X-men as my favorite "franchise starter", and in my top 5 for comic book movies of all time. For the record, the others are X2, Spiderman 2, X-men, and Batman '89.

Hey, a brand new Iron Man comic debuted today. Invincible Iron Man. You should pick it up. In fact; ALL of you guys reading this should! :word:

No not one, it is a whole new one. They have even brought Pepper back.

Best new-age superhero movie to date.

Better than Spider-Man 2.

Better than Batman Begins.

Great. ****ing. Movie.

People who are not familiar with Nick Fury from the Ultimate universe were probably wondering why Samuel Jackson was in the movie since he seems to be in everything these days.

Havent posted here for a while, but I just have to say what I felt about Iron Man.

For the first time ever, I feel that the movie do the comic justice. Even the best comic book movies have always left me wanting something more. Now, I know that the movies are adaptions, and in that term should have their own lives, separated from the comics. But as a fan, I expect more than I really should hope to get.
With X-men, I wanted the original costumes, more accurate stories, I wanted less Halle Berry etc.. X-Men 2 is all the way up there, but if they stuck to the original stories, I think it could be even better.
With Spider-Man, there was also the costume issue, and some weird plot twists that I had problems with. Spider-Man 2 was cool, but that much money should give a better movie.
Batman Begins was a great movie that I watch over and over, but it was so far removed from the orignial material that I see it as a totally seperated universe. It has all the right elements, all the right characters, but there are really no trace of a comic book here.

Iron Man felt like a comic book put to film. It was funny, but not comical. It was serious, but not self-righteous. It was filled with action, without being parodical. It was colorful, but not annoying. It was a great ride for the fans, but it still had a lot to offer everyone else. And most importantly, it was just awesome entertainment.

Good job by everone involved, and thanks to Jon Favreau that includes us as well...

jon has a lot of supporters now. general public loves this summer fun movie. and he made sure that he used tons of stuff from the comcs so also the iron man fans are on hes side.he combined it all together.

Heh. I'm pretty much 5X5 when it comes to changing up details from canon or costumes or anything. I didn't even have a problem with Halle Berry in X-Men. The only comic book movies that I watched that greatly disappointed me were Ghost Rider, F4, Daredevil, Elecktra, Hulk, and X-Men 3. And I was disappointed with those movies as a whole; I can't really pinpoint one single thing about them that really bugged me, but I walked out of the theater, scratching my head, and thinking to myself that I really didn't connect with any of these movies. At. All.

I loved how I walked out of IM and just had a huge grin on my face for the rest of the day. And then the pestering my hubby to go see the thing again started.

I think I'm gonna have to run out and check for the latest Invincible Iron Man issue. Can a relative newbie jump right into it?

So what did it crash into?

It obviously fell into something, and not simply in front of it (which would make that scene look even more stupid)

It crashed into the station, if you notice earlier in the movie when Batman saves Rachel at the station, there is a car park there, that was the car park the train crashed through.

and regardless of how much he cares about Potts, either way, one way or another, Tony will face that challenge when it comes to protecting her. Without her, he wouldn't be the same and he'll feel bad that he put her through this.

and I was under the impression that Starks works for himself... I dunno probably cause he spent most of his time at his mansion where he was building the suit and testing it out. Now that he made his own invention, does he need Stark Enterprises?

He doesn't have a whole lot of friends, except for uh that friend of his, I forget his name.

Whether he doesnt have many friends or not, he has put them, along with anyone who ever gets close to him, in danger.

avitwithjamon is just bitter because people like ironman more than sr lol

I loved IM so i couldnt care less, was just REALLY dissapointed in the ending, thought it was stupid.

Very, very good point. The sequel better deal with this angle.

^Agreed, there is no way they can out of it now, the onyl bad decision made by Favreau was that ending IMO. Tony/the director, obviously didnt think about the consequences of those words.
