Problem with the ending???? Why because he said he was Ironman?

But that is normal.

It may be normal in the comics now, but it wasnt always.

And, i made this point a few pages back, for someone who is suddenly all about protecting and saving people, he just put a hell of a lot of people in danger with that comment. Pepper, Rhodes, all of his employees and anyone who ever comes into contact with him is now a target for Iron Man's enemy's.

Does that sound clever to you?

No,it doesn't but to be fair, alot of superheroes end up putting people they care about in danger.
Batman has Alfred/Robin/Nightwing.
Superman has Lois.
Spiderman has Mary Jane and Aunt May,etc. :cwink::o

Having read the novelization(which expounds more on this) I can tell you that's exactly why he did it. But fret not Secret ID fans(of whom I happen to be one), because they have an out for IM2 and it's all tied up with SHIELD. It could very well be that SHIELD had that press conference on a timed delay and killed the news feed as soon as he said that. Then all they'd have to do is deal with the reporters who were present, as they would be the only witnesses who heard Stark say that. I can easily see them putting the strong-arm on the reporters to keep them quiet(probably threaten to send them to Git-Mo if they tell the world).

That would be incredibly stupid.

I'm actually glad he told everyone he's Iron Man. The sequel will be much more interesting now rather than having some alter-ego, and it will separate Iron Man from other superhero movies since everyone is gonna know Tony is Iron Man.

I liked it. It seemed like a regular comic book movie. It was good. I don't think it was like AMAZING SPECTACULAR good like every one says, but it was decent.

I guess it escaped you that it was totally in character to say that.

Actually, that line, "I am Iron Man," was one of my favorite parts . . . simply because it was so very Tony Stark. I loved the fact that he basically just crapped on a century's worth of hero traditions, and wanted the whole world to know who he was. It was so perfectly him. Not thinking at all about the consequences, arrogant, flashy, spontaneous, and proud.

It was like the best and worst of Tony Stark all rolled up into one. And it had me rollin'!

That would be incredibly stupid.

Care to elaborate on why you think that. SHIELD definitely wanted it kept a secret and if you've ever read the Ultimates you'd know that kind of thing is exactly in keeping with Nick Fury's character.

I loved this movie so much! And this is coming form a non-Iron Man fan. Not that I was against or anything, but of the different comics/cartoons I followed, Iron Man wasn't one of them. But now because of the movie, I'm trying to find all the good comics on him and read up. Tony Stark is such a fascinating character and he's so unlike other superheroes.

You guys are talking about him revealing himself at the end, I loved it. Again, I don't know every much about the character and the story, but from what I've learned so far about Tony Stark, it seems very fitting that he would do this. Plus, it sets him apart from all the other superhero movies out there and we won't have to worry about te alter-ego in the sequel!

awesome film
one of the best comic book films since batman begins
9/10

Oh please like Ironmans the first Superhero that has those issue.....

Oh people close to me will be in harms way....duh. Life of a Superhero.

Do you hold Superman in the same light? You must because he defends and represents Earth...so his villains often attack Earth to get to him. It will always happen so I just feel that is a silly nit pick....I mean how many times does Lois Lane get in harms way or Mary Jane....

Superman and Spiderman do not tell people who they are but the bad guys find out anyway....so again its a totaly silly nitpick.

Bingo you can't win when you are a hero...you put lives at risk all the time.

Not any more so than anyone else. What's to stop an enemy from, say, taking a bunch of hostages at a shopping mall or someplace, and murdering them all in Iron Man's name? Without even needing to know who Iron Man really is.

They dont have to be Stark employees for Tony to be effected.

Also; How would an enemy know that Stark has feelings for Pepper. The general consensus is that Stark is a womanizing playboy. Hell, STARK isnt even really sure where he and Pepper stand at the moment.

But at least other heroes TRY and protect their loved ones by not revealing who they are, see Spiderman 2, were Peter, at the start of the movie, hasnt seen Harry or MJ for a long time, why do you think that is? Because after the events of SM1, he knows that he puts them in danger by socialising with them.

I guess it escaped you that it was totally in character to say that.

I guess, it did, but i'm not saying its out of character, just saying i found a stupid thing to do for a so-called hero.

Its not a nitpick at all, if a villain killed your whole family in front of your eyes just to get to Iron Man, would you think it was a nitpick then? As i said above, at least other heroes try and keep their loved away from danger. With that move Iron Man didnt. And please dont say its a nitpick because other people have the same issue

The scenario in your first paragraph could happen, but now Tony has given his enemies definate targets that they know will effect him if they eliminate them.

Let me make this clear though because people seem to be missing it, I LOVED the movie.

Eh. They're probably safer working at Stark Industries than anywhere else, especially with War Machine and ShIELD as security...

Regardless; i stand by the fact that any enemy of Stark could grab hostages ANYWHERE, even without the knowledge of his dual identity, and deeply effect him.

Also; keep in mind that the second he escaped from the cave, his enemies knew who and what he was. What choice did he have? It was either that or die...i imagine he chose to go public before the terrorists could use that knowledge against him.

Just saw this yesterday afternoon and I loved it right up to the final fight scene. I thought that could have had a little.... actualy a lot more punch! Also that scene after the credits, it was pretty cool. I like what he said and how it leads into the future but THIS ISN'T THE ULTIMATES AND THAT AIN'T NICK FURY!!!! :cmad: One thing's clear though, Marvel should be in charge of making all Marvel character movies.

I know, that was one of the few things I disliked, I wanted a 616 Fury.

I don't see how tony being iron man is anymore of a threat to him than tony having all those arms...

iron man is effectively just another complete armour that no one will ever be able to utilise since they aren't aware of his heart as a power source.

All those who were in danger of knowing him are probably going to be in just as much danger as they were before.

The terrorists in Afghaniston will have known yes, but any future enemies can will now know who to hurt to get to Tony, because of his reckless actions.

We just see it differently.

Exactly

Like Avitwithjamons comment above about my family getting killed just to get to Ironman....well its the same exact issue at the begining of the movie.

A bunch of USA soilders were killed just to get to Tony Stark.

Because Tony Stark had a great mind and weapons/arms.......

So people were finding all sorts of reasons to go after Tony Stark way before he was Ironman.

In fact more people died in that movie going after Tony Stark pre Ironman than they did after the fact that the suit as made....

It makes no difference if he is Ironman or not Tony Stark is in the public eye and that is fact. People were after him and hurting others around him way before Ironman came around.

Lets put is real simple like lol

Pre Ironman Tony Stark - Got a dozen USA soilders killed, nice science guy in cave etc...body count as a result of him being Tony Stark...

Post Ironman Tonay Stark - 0 body count as a result of him being Ironman...well apart from the bad guy.

According to the movie people close to Tony need to be scared of Tony....not Ironman so the point is a nitpick.

Does Ironman make Tonys and his close friends lives more dangerous...hardly.

He was always in danger as Tony given the nature of his job.....Ironman is just another extention of that.

Thank you.

Loved this movie!! One of the few I feel I got my money's worth from. Not only that, I'd pay to see it in the theatre again. My only gripe, Terrence Howard's voice. The guy sounded like a p****. I was hoping he'd have a tougher voice, but oh well.
