I'd say upon reviewing it again this week, it does have some flaws that are small enough it still among the top 3-5 best comic book movies ever made, but perhaps not quite as high as I had originally thought.

The key with this movie is that it is FUN. Probably the most fun a superhero movie has been since Superman (1978) or maybe Spider-Man (2002). I think SM2 and BB are better than all those, the fact is IM just leaves you grinning.

Iron Man was great, the best Marvel movie yet. But alltime:
1. Batman Begins(I'm really hoping TDK is better
2. Superman The Movie
3. Iron Man
4. X2
5. X-Men

The one thing or element I really didn't care for was Gwyneth comes to the rescue at the end of the movie. I just didn't believe Gwyneth Paltrow in an action scene, especially in that get-up. I liked her as a super organized anal secretary but as an action-ista? No way. It's bad enough you got a guy in a giant robot suit coming after this skinny little girl. Paltrow's wooden performance takes the fun out of that whole scene.

She just fell apart as an actress in the third act. Just fell apart. I know she didn't have a lot to work with...but...

The greatest comic movie of all time. Better than the first Batman and that is saying something. Robert Downey Jr. is the @#$! man!! The only thing that sucked was waiting what felt like an hour for the credits to roll about people we don't give a flying fig about just to see the last scene.

Curses left during the credits suspecting the possibility of a last scene. What was the scene? Was it the Hulk crossover?
Thoroughly enjoyed Iron Man. Great comic book film!

One minor complaint, I wish there was as much focus on the suit's strength as with it's capacity for offensive weapons(missles, repulsors etc), including the same sort of testing Stark did for it's flight capabilities. Would have loved to see him attack a tank in a "hand to hand" method, in addition to the firing of the rocket.

Batman Begins and Superman The Movie are better than Batman'89.

Iron Man is the third best Superhero film after those two.

I see Superman The Movie a lot as one of the top Superhero movies of all time, and I've never really been a fan of it. It was just kind of boring and overly corny to me. Of course, I'm not a big fan of Superman either, but I did like Superman 2 because at least in that he had villains that could beat him without a rock.

I wouldn't say she fell apart, I mean all she could do was run and look scared. It wasn't like they gave her much to do.

Paltrow just doesn't do it for me...never liked her, but she wasn't horrible so I'll deal with it. Someone in here yesterday was complaining about the Stark Industries logo....what did you expect? its a defense/aircraft company....did you expect a picture of an Iron Man suit humping a giant 'S'??

It wasn't perfect, but I gave it a 10 anyway because it's up there with the first Spider-Man and Batman Begins.

Batman Begins had waaaaaaaaaay too many "cool car" comments for my liking... especially at the climactic ending before Gordon is about to blow the train tower and we just had to hear that bum say "cool car" yet again... :cmad: :cmad: :cmad:

And if 911 has taught us anything, is the fact that buildings NEED columns to support themselves, and I'm sorry, when I see a derailed train knocking out 5 foot diameter concrete columns, Wayne Enterprise should have come tumbling down... but it didn't... which made my eyes roll "almost" as much as any bad Joel Schumacher Batman moment...

BB is a good movie... how people can say it's the "greatest" super-hero movie is beyond me...

Just my opinion...

:yay:

I really, really enjoyed it. Both Favreau and Downey Jr. knocked it out of the park and Jeff Bridges surprisingly made for a good villain. I just wish there had been more action, but the sequel could rectify that.

My top 5 superhero movies:
1) Batman Begins
2) Spider-Man 2
3) X2: X-Men United
4) Iron Man
5) Spider-Man 3

Yeah,Superman isn't that good IMO,my beef with it is that it doesn't have enough action, the action is boring when it happens, and Hackman is really dire as Luthor on the in and outside.

8.5/10 for me, a very good movie, and Marvel's best since Spiderman 2, but in my personal opinion people saying this is the best Marvel movie are crazy.

The acting is great, and i didnt spot any poor lines either, but the action was lacking IMO, and i was very dissapointed with him revealing himself at the end. The movie also had some great emotional scene's and some good character development, especially for Stark and Obidiah, but something i cant put my finger on, just stops the movie from being up there with the best IMO. It didnt seem to have the verve and emotional investment of the first 2 Spiderman movies, nor the drama and social commentary of the first 2 X-men movies (X2 is leaps and bounds better than IM IMO), and the movie simply, for me personally, just doesnt have the resonance or deepness of movies like Batman Begins, Superman Returns and Hulk (yes i know i will get some stick for the last 2). It didnt even have the coolness factor, action or epicness of Transformers. And IMO the likes of the excellent HellBoy, Sin City, The Crow and V4V are above IM as well.

BUT, IM is itself leaps and bounds ahead of the likes of X3, the FF movies, Elektra and Blade: Trinity, its also a lot better than the ones like Ghost Rider, Daredevil: DC and The Punisher that i personally liked.. And Robert Downey Jnr is possibly the best suited leading man in a CB movie yet, he was just awesome, and all the hints to the sequel and CB mytho's were awesome and very welcome.

In conclusion, Marvel has gotten off to a good start, but not a great one, quality wise. I will be updating my sig tomorrow as IM does make it into my top 15.

Also, on a personal note, looks like a scene i suggested to Favreau in the suggestions thread made it into the movie, how awesome is that!

in the past 3 or 4 years in the regular Marvel universe and at the beginning of the Ultimates, its public knowledge that Tony Stark is Iron Man. IMO...why would someone of Tony Starks' personality or stature care that anyone knew he was Iron Man??

Iron Man IMO,is the best Marvel movie!!
If one watched it and liked it,and keeps thinking about it in a positive manner then that should say something extremely strong. :yay::o:o
REPLAY VALUE,LOTS OF IT TO COME!!!

Because for someone who is all suddenly about protecting people, he just put himself, his friends, his employees, not to mention anyone who comes in contact with him in severe danger. He may as well painted an X on all of their heads.

However,Iron Man will be there when there is trouble and when he can,and as long as he isn't intoxicated! :woot:
At least authorities like the police, etc wouldn't go after him because they know he is Iron Man,there's upsides to it too you know. :o

It seems to work OK in the current books and The Ultimates, just my opinion of it though...

If I recall correctly, those columns were a part of the train system leading into the building and not part of the building itself....

That's why you don't think Batman Begins is great? Because Gordon and a bum thought the Batmobile was cool, and because you think a building should have fallen, even though it's definitely possible that the building could have still been standing after that?

Lame. EVERY superhero movie will have one-liners and fantastical situations. Look at Iron Man for another prime example...

To you, boring and corny. To others, it serves at the first, really good superhero movie. It pretty much set the standard for all superhero films that followed.

Just been to the cinema to watch this and I was very impressed...One of Marvel's better films.Soundtrack rocked, script was good, well cast...all in all a very good film....special effects were good too...
