Pretty ridiculous that Fox gets second billing over John Malcovich.

The banner is okay. Personally, I'm hoping they go for something similar to this for the final poster:

I mean, how badass is that? And image it with Brolin and his scars? AWESOME!

A June opening bodes well for what WB thinks it's box office potential is.

An illustrated poster would be awesome.

Yeah fitting to both the comic genre and spaghetti western genre.

The scar looks much better on that poster than it did in those set photos.

I'm a huge fan of westerns and was wondering if any fans of this comic can tell me if it really is a mix of western and the supernatural or not?

In general, the vast, vast majority of Jonah Hex's comics have been straight westerns.

There is a small subset though that have had some mixture. The Joe Lansdale/Tim Truman Vertigo series were western/horror hybrids. There's the occasional issue where you have ambiguous mysticism, dreams/hallucinations/spirituality, what have you. And El Diablo, a mystical western hero shows up a few times where you have something overt. Maybe a couple dozen issues in total since 1972.

El Diablo showing up in Jonah Hex is the equivalent of Etrigan/Jason Blood showing up in Batman. Its a nice change of pace but it doesnt mess with the context

Yeah. And even though El Diablo is mystical, it's not like he's flying around, shooting flames, or casting spells.

Glad too hear this film got moved up! Show's confidence from Warner Brothers.

The poster in a better quality, not really high-res but this we do until a even better one pop out.

it really is a good poster

I'm sure Paramount will move the Footloose remake but I don't think Disney will blink with Toy Story 3. That's a 70-75 million opening weekend right there. Is the Megan Fox factor going to help?

Toss up

I don't think Disney will blink with Toy Story 3.

It's official. This movie is gonna suck. Why would WB open it opposite Toy Story 3? They just want an excuse for when it flops.

its opening on teh same weekend as Toy Story 3? then thats two movies for me to see that weekend. Love Pixar.

is there a jonah hex manip thread?

Why did they move it to the same day as Toy Story 3? What else in coming out in June next year? If there's nothing else really big why couldn't they put it on one of those dates?

Yes, because the core TOY STORY 3 crowd is also the core JONAH HEX crowd.

:).

Dates aren't locked into stone, despite what Marvel may lead you to believe. It can be changed, although if it's R-rated it might be counter programming to Pixar. The fact that the Jonah Hex poster at ComicCon says 2010 instead of a specific date tells me that WB is leaving their options open.

Yeah, I wouldn't put it up against Toy Story 3 either, even as counter programming. Open it up a week later, like The Hangover.

O.k. maybe not set in stone, but Marvel acts like announcing a release date years ahead means something. Remember a year ago when they made a big deal after Iron Man opened about their upcoming slate with release dates and logos? And we sit here a year later and all but Iron Man 2 have changed.

An actual studio doesn't get all that hung up. After all, WB moved around Harry Potter to fill a gap this year. It really won't be locked in stone until the Spring 2010 marketing push.

The A-Team is coming out the week before.
