Yeah..people rate the success of a movie on money..but for me, SR made less than Spider Man 3 but was more enjoyable. GO figure.

I personally think if we were to have recieved the full 3 hour version Singer shot, that the movie would have been even better. I still hope for an extended cut.....god please.
I couldn't agree more!.... I'd also like to see an extended cut!... I know that there was a lot on the farm that didn't make it to the final cut, and that blows!... I also know that in an earlier draft of the script, it said that when Kal-El returns to earth he's not sure wether or not he'll wanna return as superman or even use his powers again! Now that the world has learned to live without him. He finds this out when reading the old newspapers in the celler! (another scene that was cut!!!) He uses a shuffle to burry the ship! Think about that for a sec. what would he need a shuffle for? He's superman! He could smash that spaceship deep underground without it. But the shuffle is his way of connecting with the world.. He's trying to go about "normal". Also, why did he hesitate that much to go off saving the plane in the first place!? In the movie it's obvious that he's hoping for the problem to solve it self. You can see that he's conflicted about heading off to save the plane. It just doesn't make sense. Had they really incorporated that story-line about him wanting to leave superman behind, it would make a lot more sense as to why he waited towards the last minute to head off saving the day! wasn't that story-line incorporated in the novelization!?

It was shown in the movie that he didnt want to come back as Superman. When the plane incident is announced, see the look on Clark's face and the hesitancy to run and change into Superman straight away. He looks down and closes his eyes, which to me says "I didnt want to do this" and then looks up with steely determination and leaves.

it was not very clear IMO. it has somethig to do with the deleted scenes. if they would use all scenes it would make more sense. but we as fans know everything so we knew what was going on. the general public?
i dont know.

That wasn't enough to show that he didn't want to be Superman. That entire story point was cut from the script and in editing. That one little pause is not enough to tell the story of why Superman doesn't want to be Superman any longer.

Longer??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you. Why would anyone want a longer version of a movie that feels like it takes a week to sit through?

Because some people liked it. Is that too hard a concept to grasp?

^And some people didn't, so those people wouldn't want to endure more torture.

Then they shouldnt watch it; but they wont make an extended cut... mainly because Bryan went on record saying hes going to use the 10 million $ RTK footage for a theatrical release (most likely the sequel).

Then i suggest those people to do not buy an extended edition DVD.

Or do they not have the intelligence or the restraint?

i dont know.

I thought it was very clear in the movie, i caught it 1st time i watched it in the cinema before i EVER knew of or saw the deleted scene's.

As i said above i thought they made it clear Superman was hesitant to return to superhero duties. And even though it wasnt stated in the movie, i think its pretty clear he didnt because he saw Lois's article.

There will most certainly be an extended cut at some point. If they use the Return to Krypton sequence in the sequel, this may or may not be included on the Returns Special Cut. It's WB's decision, not Singer's.

I think it's clear to me or clear to you. I don't think it was clear to the audience to say the least. I think a couple facial expressions might work for certain situations but not to convey what we already know from being on The Hype. To make it simple, me and you are in the know, much more than the general public.

Who said they were going to buy it? In cased you missed it, I was making a joke regarding my dislike of SR...like I always do. Sometimes I like seriously discussing the film but that wasn't one of the times. No matter how heated you get I'm going to always truthfully give my opinions on this subject and the truth is I didn't like the flick and come on these boards because I like to talk about everything surrounding it. Like boxoffice, public and critical reception and rather or not there is going to be a sequel. I'm not going away unless WB annonces that a sequel is fourth coming and even then I'll post every now and again just not nearly as much as I do now. Just wait it out, I'll more likely than not be out of your hair in a couple of months and then you can bask in the glow of Lois Lame and her bastard child and a Superman who loves em and leaves em for vague reasons...oh but you like vague reasons you're and unconditional lover of Superman Returns.

...Oh, are you done?

I guess I just don't see the logic of complaining about something you don't plan to buy, jokey or not.

Nice to see you get all angry because I like a movie you don't, though.

Qwerty, I don't think you'll ever understand this whole "two way street" thing.

I have never got angry at someone simply because they dislike a movie that I like. It is insulting that you think I am that kind of person.

As I have stated to you an infinite number of times, I simply have a problem with those who choose to bash something they dislike for a year after its release. Now i know you're going to say it is also wrong to praise something for a year, but I must remind you once again that i do not do that either. I haven't made a post that applauds SR for months, you can check my post history if you want. I am here to discuss the sequel, with others who share my enthusiam and those who wish to see things they disliked be resolved. Not to wade through inane comments made by those who can't let things go.

If there isn't a sequel, I expect to see the extended edition with

1 Return to Krypton
2 The orginal cut of the Plane Catch with him going back to the Daily Planet.

If there is a sequel, It' would be stupid for the WB to release a 10 million dollar scene that they can use for the sequel. I also find it weird that in Donner's Superman a scene for the sequel was used in the orginal movie and it might be vice versa for Singer's version.

^And some people didn't, so those people wouldn't want to endure more torture.

Those people have no guns against their heads so they're forced to buy it and watch it right?

Who said they were going to buy it? In cased you missed it, I was making a joke regarding my dislike of SR...like I always do. Sometimes I like seriously discussing the film but that wasn't one of the times.

Now I get it.

But can't you post some specific emoticons so we can differentiate what is your serious criticism and what is a ... ehm... "joke"?

No matter how heated you get I'm going to always truthfully give my opinions on this subject and the truth is I didn't like the flick and come on these boards because I like to talk about everything surrounding it. Sure man. Choices are, to use time to keep loving what you love or keep hating what you hate. Is what we dooooo that defines us.

We are here to address the problems of the first film so as to better the sequel.

I wasnt really in the know 1st time i saw it though. I wasnt a Superman fan and had NEVER read a Superman comic before seeing SR. And i didnt keep up with the production that much either. I didnt read ANY interviews, etc, until after i saw the movie.

Yet i caught it straight away.

I think all the cutscenes fit. Singer shot it at as a 3 hour film; he was initially told from WB that 3 hours was fine.

It was only last minute where he was forced to cut it down to 2h 30...
and if most people saw those cuts scenes, i think, thinking that Singer cant make a good action flim would be ceased

I didn't say you did, but it's a two way street. See below for what I mean by that. So let's not try and turn this around and act as if I was somehow insulting you. :whatever:

You have just made my point, therein your above post lies the hypocrisy. You are saying you don't praise the movie for a year, but in your retorts to those who dislike the movie that is exactly what you are doing. That isn't where you become a hypocrite though, the question is, do you have a problem with those who choose to praise the movie with the same ferocious attitude as those who dislike it do? You are saying you don't praise it and to check your post history, but if I check that same history I can guarantee you aren't saying anything to those posters who like the movie and are scratching and clawing at every turn.

Superman Returns made you a Superman Fan? You didn't keep up with production? You have been a member here since 2003, but I will take your word for it.

The comic books aren't relevant to what my point is. If you caught the fact that Superman didn't want to be Superman any longer from that one look then you are in the minority.

Singer edited out one of the most important parts of his original premise.

but i think you are not really understanding him though......he only defends when people just bash it, would out given a reasonable explanation.....its different if he came on here everyday and was saying SR'S ROCKS....its nots praising, its defending, totally different
