wait is this story DONE?

I just picked up issue 18 today and really liked the book..

Is this just a "hypothetical" Non con story???
The "League of Losers" arc started with issue #14 and ended with this last issue.

I wouldn't call it a "hypothetical" story, but a story that showed what some neglected characters could do when the chips were down, and that they're only as good as the person writing them, not that they are themselves "bad characters".

Im gonna have to pick up the back Issues..this was my kind of story..I was a big Fan of FabNic/Bagely New Warriors , probably for the same reasons as I like this stuff...

Yeah. How about that Darkhawk, huh? Who'd have thunk it. I could see Kirkman handling a Darkhawk series like a champ.

*sniff* *sniff* anyone else smell that?

*sniff* *sniff* it smells like *Sniff* SPIN OFF!

I wouldn't call myself a "fan" of Darkhawk but I did pick up a few of his comics back when he was new in the 90's, even have DARKHAWK #1 somewhere, which is probably worth all of $3. Thought he was decent, like many other Marvel characters that I sort of like. This "League of Losers" story actually took a lot of 90's "rookies" that in current day have been neglected. Darkhawk, Dagger, Speedball, Terror...

I'm not sure about that. If Marvel put out a MARVEL KNIGHTS AVENGERS 2099 with Kirkman to spin off this arc, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but I am doubtful it is a possibility. MTU sells pretty terribly, even worse than RUNAWAYS does, on a monthly scale. The trades sell decently, though.

As for Darkhawk, BKV hinted that there may be an Excelsior spin-off from RUNAWAYS coming eventually, and Darkhawk's one of the premire members of that team.

yeah well MTU is confined to a section of unpredictibility....

I mean The heroes involved change alot...and if Marvel keeps disssing storys like League of Losers as Non-con then Interest will wane...

Not being handled well IMO...

despite the awesomeness of LOL

Any idea what some of the upcoming arcs are gonna be? I'm curious who's gonna be starring MTU next. I'm hoping Iron Fist.

I really liked the way that they ended the "League of Losers". Didn't really go the linear route in the story...Kirkman kind of threw us a little curve ball there. Pretty cool.

Though one thing I'm mad about is all that character development that Kirkman did with Darkhawk. He made Darkhawk into a really interesting character, gave him a pair, and now it doesn't even matter. :(

Oh well, kudos to Kirkman and company for a fun read once again. Hope to ride this thing out as long as it lasts.

Well, I wouldn't say it didn't matter. That Darkhawk still exsists in the alternate future of Kirkman's Marvel Knights 2099. Should anybody decide to revisit that whole reality agian, they'll probally show up.

The next issue of MTU will star Cable and Wolverine in a tale affectionally called "1991" (which is the date that Marvel thinks it is in right now, judging by their past few company policies on crossovers and events). After that is a 5 part arc that will debut a new hero, Freedom Ring.

The Darkhawk/League of stuff doesn't feel wasted to me in a way. Many fans believe that some characters by existance are "lame" and should die -- and this goes all the way to the top with Joe Q all but calling for someone to kill Speedball. Kirkman shows that given proper motivation, circumstance, and writing, any Marvel hero can excell, even Speedball, or Darkhawk.

Sadly, MTU sells poorly, so Joe Q won't have to eat any humble pie. He rarely does anyway (even as recently in the ULTIMATE AVENGERS featurettes, he all but brags about NEW AVENGERS being a top seller despite the criticisms of fans; great way to alienate a 3rd of your audience, man! Woo! Of course, no one mention how earth shattering Arana was supposed to be).

Kirkman seems to like revisiting that reality a lot.

Well he did create it.
Exactly. Who says that only Bendis can toot his own horn in his own books? ;) At least he can't offend anyone if he brings in stuff he created.

But we're never going to see that kick ass version of Darkhawk in the regular Marvel Universe. Think about how awesome he'd be on Excelsior now! But it won't happen because time travel sucks!

Well, if it wasn't for time travel, you never woulda got that Darkhawk in the first place. So, at best it's a double edged sword.

Meh. If I would have known that what they did in the alternate timeline didn't carry back over into the regular universe I wouldn't have been so excited about Darkhawk in the first place. :o

Not really. The whole Cable Wolverine thing was pretty crappy. It was only a one shot right? What's coming next?

I didn't buy it. Cable and Wolverine don't really interest me. :(

i gotta admit , at first i thought it was just another way of marvel tryin to make money, but ... the last story arc with the league of losers was pritty cool and i like seeing all of marvel in events and not just huge over done cross overs.

I'm deffinitely looking forward to MTU 21.
That Iron Maniac idea looks like it'll be great.
The freedom ring storyline (#19-20) i'm still undecided about.

Yeah, I kinda did. Nice little one-shot, and prelude to the next story. I'm not really a fan of Cable's, so liking it even a little bit says a lot! I like how Wolvie is all crispy-fried at the end.

I enjoyed it. I thought that it was a nice little rib to the comic industry that they did this story. Took place in 1991 when Cable and Wolverine were basically taking off like madmen. Had Jubilee in it as well. It was a nice nostalgic visit to me. The story was interesting with Cable telling Wolvie that Mandarin was supposed to get what he came for...his only mission was to keep Wolvie alive. Not a bad issue by any means but a little transition.
