The Official Marvel Team Up Thread

Here's what I said about MTU #19 weeks ago.

MARVEL TEAM-UP #19: A prelude to Kirkman's next storyarc on this poor-selling but terrific series, Cable goes back in time to 1991 to prevent Wolverine from dying before his time. Apparently he and Jubilee were off to steal a fragment of the cosmic cube from HYDRA, but alas the Mandarin shows up to fashion it into the "cosmic ring" that Ringmaster recently got hold of about ten or so issues ago. The title is appropriate because it really feels like a 1991 story, but done well. Naturally, Cable, Wolvie, and Jubes are little more than annoyances, but Wolverine survives so Cable can call it a pyric victory. Not as good, of course, as the LEGION OF LOSERS issues were, but still a whole lot better than I expected, since I almost can't stand Cable. We have yet another artist trucked in with Walker, who does rather well (although I will miss Medina). This next arc will introduce Kirkman's newest hero to the MU, and according to cover images, "Freedom Ring" looks to be a cross between Havok and Green Lantern, and if he has the cosmic ring, his "ability to alter reality" may make him a bit too much like Magician on Kirkman's other title, ULTIMATE X-MEN. Hopefully Kirkman can avoid repeating himself so much that both new characters suffer. Still, I was almost bracing for this issue and it turned out to be more fun than I expected. Stop weeping over SPIDER-GIRL and help MTU and THE THING enjoy 100 issues.

Ironically, SPIDER-GIRL is just being relaunched. MTU and THE THING, though, need the support. Kirkman scored a hit with MARVEL ZOMBIES so they may let him have his way on MTU a while, but the THING needs a strong boost in sales.

Even thought I can't stand Wolverine and Cable, I actually really enjoyed the last issue.

Likewise. good read. I hope Marvel Team-Up lasts a while longer

I couldn't even read it. I hate Cable and Wolverine. I Couldn't stomache the art.

didnt get a chance to read it yet, will this weekend when i go to get all my comics. i really like this book and the mentioned thing book. really hope the dont call it quits on it.

You guys are insane. Cory Walker's a fine artist. I'll admit, Cable's HQ looked kind of odd, but I loved seeing Walker's art again. Last time I saw him draw anything was Invincible.

I can understand not liking Cable but hating Wolverine is like hating Spider-Man. He's a Marvel institution.

I usually hate Wolverine, too. He started out a great character, but when he changed from scrappy underdog to unkillable titan of myth, he got boring.

I enjoyed the artwork in the latest MTU issue. Don't see what all the fuss is about.

I wish the League of Losers (Winners to me) would get their own book.

I wa so happy Speedball actually got some credit in saving the world.
I hope the X-23 and Gravity thing happens in present time.

I agree, and I'm a Wolverine-fan at heart. I'm just not a rabid one.

Walker's art was fine to me. I'll miss Medina, though; his run was solid.

First he saved the world, now he kills over 600 people :(

I wish Darkhawk would get his own freakin' book! They made him kick ass and then it all turns out that it was for no reason because THAT Darkhawk will be stuck in the future!

Make Darkhawk all interesting and then just leave me hanging...poopheads. :(

It's not photo-realistic. And as we all know, that's what is needed to tell a proper comic story. Don't want to be too cartoonish in a comic book, y'know.

lol, IF the fans ask for it enough, maybe it will happen.
Wish Marvel would hurry up and open their boards.

Cartoonish in a comic book?! BLASPHEMY!!!

I keep hearing about Marvel boards. They had some right pre-2001, and I thought they were pretty good.

yeah, if you look on the main Marvel.com page, it says boards are coming soon near the bottom. it's been like that for awhile

After they dropped their boards in 2001, they had that same message up for about 6 months.

You know what team up I really wanna see?

Spiderman and Collossus.

I mean really. It'd be freakin Awesome.

MTU is one of my top three fav comics. Everything is tying together they're not forgetting about stuff that has already happened, like Titanus and the ring made from the Cosmic Cube
