I know. Blas is going to have amazing, ethnically themed one-liners like "I cooked you like a taco" and "Chi-huawah wah. Stop Crying."

Mass Effect DLC Announced

BioWare and Microsoft sent out word today to announce the first set of Mass Effect downloadable content. The pack, called Bring Down the Sky, is set to release on March 10 at 2AM PST for 400 Microsoft Points (US $5). This is the first in a series of upcoming downloadable content planned for the game that Microsoft claims 1.6 million people have picked up.

The Bring Down the Sky download will introduce a new uncharted world and features the alien race of the Batarians. An extremist group has hijacked an asteroid station in the Asgard system and put it on a collision course with the colony world Terran Nova. It's up to Commander Shepard to save the innocent civilians. The download is estimated to last roughly 90 minutes and adds a new 50 point Achievement.

JIiIiizizzz.

I just started getting into this again, HAWT.

Any one have any idea if they'll release a download similar to the Shivering Isles as seen in Oblivion?

Hopefully there won't be a download for Mass Effect in which we go to a plane of afterlife and deal with some mad god creature, no.

Wow that's a pthetic amount of new content for good price.

Just bought the game yesterday and I'm completely addicted. Amazing graphics and a real compelling story so far.

I feel like playing it all again.......

MASS EFFECT!!! YEAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!

I Cant wait for the d/l content...Better not be like a stupid side mission which is basically the same as others though.
I at least would like a good decent cut-scene with it!!!!!

I thought it would be hard to play as a Renegade, but it's easy. The Paragon/Renegade points system is awesome. Everytime I'm an a**hole it's for a legit reason, and every now and then I get Paragon points but really, it's not like you have to be a cutthroat heartless motherf**ker like in Knights of the Old Republic to get deep in the red.

Being Renegade doesn't mean being a bad guy. Why would it be hard to play Renegade?

Shepard is a good guy/gal. There's no way around that, and there's no way of dismissing it. Shepard is a hero and will always be a hero through every single playthrough of the game.

Renegade is just another method of good. It's a hard-hitting, ****-stomping method of good that's way more awesome than lowly Paragon.

True true, I just expected to have to be a dick to every single person in the game. And just because someone is a hero doesn't mean they're a good person. Punching that reporter is awesome. :o

Bad guys aren't heroes. Bad guys aren't even anti-heroes. Bad guys are villains.

Shepard = hero. Thus, Shepard = good guy. Sometimes that means being a very angry good guy.

By "good person" I meant good. Like, not willing to slaughter people to get s**t done and always looking for a peaceful solution whenever possible. I guess bad/good isn't the way to put it, I just thought I'd have to feel like an a**hole while playing, and that's why I thought I'd have a hard time. My conscience weighs heavy even when it comes to virtual worlds.

I understood what you meant by "good person." I was trying not to further bastardize the English language. I mean no offense by that.

By "good person" you meant a person with wideheld, aka "proper" morals, and a conscience. Except there's nothing against Renegade Shepard having morals and a conscience. Renegade Shepard just has a different list of priorities. :D

But yeah, you know.

I just completed Mass Effect, and it was amazing. My only criticism is that i wish the game had been longer!
I played as a Paragon my first game, so this time i will be much more of a Renegade

How long did it take you to complete???

Took me 40 hours to complete it first time round.....Then 20 hours second time round being a renegade myself.

Anyone other than me get the DLC? :o

It was pretty cool, not 90 minutes though. I wish there were more missions and s**t, but definitely a cool intro for the Batarians.

My friend's borrowin my Mass Effect game man!!!!!!!!! I'm getting it back on Wednesday to get the DLC!!!!! Oooooo yeah.

Would you say it was worth it??? Was there any cool cut-scenes????

I haven't gotten it yet, no. I definitely will be, though. Probably in the next few days at the latest.

For 400 points, yeah, worth it.

There are some nice looking scenes, like when you go to land on the asteroid for the first time. Some really beautiful wide shots. And when you're on the asteroid you can see the planet it's heading towards over the mountains and it's pretty badass. Only thing that bothered me was no comm message distress or whatever it is to update you on the mission, you only get it when you go to land. Easy enough though, the galaxy map is updated when you get the content. I read somewhere that the sky was interactive, so when I go through it again in my new game as a Vanguard I'll see if that means getting to shoot debris out of the air, lol.

There's a new interior environment and it's one of the longer side missions, but it is a side mission so don't go expecting anything epic. Towards the end you're faced with another tough moral decision, and you get a kickass reward when it's all over. It's a nice addition, satisfied my need for new Mass Effect action. :o

Whats so kick ass about the reward? It's not anything unique to the mission.

I thought the mission is okay. It wasn't mindblowing but like you said it was a pretty good intro to the Batarians. I wish there was more to it though it was mostly Mako driving. Hopefully the next pack is better.
