The Official Mega Man Thread

the report i read said it will still be 8 bit. personally i was hoping for a ducktales style update

Wasn't Ducktales just a HD remaster of the SNES game, or did they actually do some kind of significant work on it.

Pretty significant work. I mean, 2 new levels. The levels where close to the original layout, but they were tweaked a bit. And of course, completely redid the boss battles and score (though the 8-bit score was still available). Also added voice acting.

Ah, I see, wasn't really familiar with that.

here's examples of the difference

It was pretty much in line with the HD Remake of SSFII which had redrawn sprites

The best thing about the HD remake, was the boss battles. They definitely made them "harder". The NES bosses were ridiculously easy.

Mega Man Legacy Collection’s Challenge Mode And Museum Make The Blue Bomber Bundle Worthwhile. June 17, 2015 . 9:31am

Capcom is re-releasing the six Mega Man games made for NES again, but Mega Man Legacy Collection has some neat editions for fans that own Mega Man Anniversary Collection. Capcom and developer Digital Eclipse added a Challenge Mode which has players rush to defeat all of Mega Man 2′s bosses or see how fast they can take down the Yellow Devil from the original Mega Man.

I tried a couple of the challenges in Mega Man Legacy Collection, the first blended stages from all six Mega Man games in one challenge. This started on Cutman’s stage from Mega Man and after a fight with a Big Eye (the hopping one-eyed robots) a black hole whisked me to a stage from Mega Man 2. Each stage transition reloaded Mega Man will a fully charged stock of weapons from the game he jumped into.

Challenges are timed, so I went straight for the Metal Blade to quickly slice through enemies. Sometimes its easier and faster to use items to avoid challenges. Item 2 in Mega Man 2 creates a helpful rocket sled that allowed me to fly past bottomless pits in one of the Mega Man 2 challenges. Players have five minutes to complete a challenge and your best time is saved. Here’s a look at the challenges in the E3 demo:

Mega Man 1 – 6 (has levels from all six Mega Man games)
Mega Man 1 Megamix (a remix challenge only with levels from Mega Man 1)
Mega Man 1 Robot Rush
Yellow Devil (a battle with Dr. Wily’s Yellow Devil)
Mega Man 2 Megamix
Mega Man 2 Robot Rush

Mega Man Legacy Collection has an awesome museum feature stuffed with concept art of Mega Man, enemies, robot masters, and even some unused monsters. Take a look at some of these boss candidates from Mega Man 2.

These features are nice, but we wanted to test how accurate the games in Mega Man Legacy Collection are to the originals. Mega Man 1 has a bug that make Elec Man’s Thunder Beam the most powerful weapon. If you pause and resume the game while the Thunder Beam is in the air it will hit enemies over and over again. This is probably the quickest way to takedown tough enemies like the Yellow Devil. Digital Eclipse left this trick in Mega Man 1. Some areas even have a little slowdown when there are too many enemies on the screen.

Mega Man Legacy Collection comes out this summer for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo 3DS version is scheduled for release this winter.

I know that list was for the E3 demo, but I hope every game gets a remix on it.

And after putting some time into Super Meat Boy on my X1, I think I'm gonna pick this up on both the X1 and 3DS. I heard they implemented 3D, so that'll be a cool incentive for that. :awesome:

The release date is set for the 25th, and they're releasing a physical copy a few months later. What's weird, is the digital version coming out in a few weeks is $15, while the physical will retail for $30.

Mega Man Legacy Collection will release on August 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and in early 2016 for 3DS, according to Capcom-Unity. The collection will retail for $15 USD.
Physical editions will release sometime in North America in early 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, and 3DS and will retail for $30 USD. No mention was made of releasing the physical edition in other regions.

Its out to DL on the X1 right now. I didn't think it was going to release at midnight, but it did. Good stuff. It looks great, and there's no latency in the controls, so it plays properly. I'll put some time into it tomorrow.

I went ahead and bought it, too. I probably won't play it a whole lot, but I figured for $15 it's alright. It'll give me something to kind of dick around with between stuff, too. I did one of the challenges, only got bronze, though.

I'll probably pick it up in a few days. Too bad it doesn't have a rewind mode.

Mega Man Legends is being released on the North American Playstation Store on September 29th. :woot:

After this and Tron Bonne, I'm pretty hopeful MML2 will be released as well at some point soon as well.

I have the original copies of both MML and MML2, but I may go ahead and buy this, too just to have.

I never really thought of it before, but I wouldnt be opposed to Capcom remaking that

I doubt they'll do anything new with the Legends IP, but I hope if they ever actually do make a brand new Mega Man game that they take some inspiration from it and make it an action-adventurey sort of thing.

A remake of MML would be cool, but to honest, I'd rather just have MML3. I'm okay with these games in their current state, and now that they're available via PSN, they are widely available once again. But, of course, I think that ship sank with the whole prototype thing or whatever the hell all that nonsense ended up amounting to.

Maybe they figure all Mega Man fans have been saving up in the lack of new games releasing

Loved Mega Man Legends but I never got around to playing 2 for whatever reason
