"If the movie is good, Nolan will get the credit, if the movie is bad, Snyder will get the blame"

"If (guess the movie) is good, credit Singer...if it's bad, blame marketing/POTC/the trailers/audiences' lack of taste/etc."

;)

i don't think they're deliberately trying to save villains for sequels. logically, if you're going to give Superman a villain to fight for his first big adventure (that isn't just Lex Luthor) Metallo and Parasite are just underwhelming and Brainiac is too much for a rookie Superman to handle. General Zod seems just the right amount of a challenge for noob Supes to handle.

ooo...that would be nice :D

WB screwed this all up. This movie is going to be like the Incredible Hulk in 2008. That movie was better than the disaster of Ang Lee's movie but people still weren't impressed even though the 08 film had more action with abomination.

SR wasn't a total disaster. Just needed to be reedited and up the action. The more and more I think back to SR and him throwing NK into space to where Brainiac sees it in our galaxy. The more I see of this cast with the announcement of Zod, Brian Singer's MOS sounds really good at this point.

I think this movie will be a 1 and done. By looking at GENERAL fan reaction, not fan boys. The general audience is confused as hell. People are still asking what the hell happened to Brandon Routh. Who will play Superman & Batman in JLA? Not to mention Sucker Punch is a total flop.

WB is just painfully stupid when it comes to comics. They totally lucked up in hiring Chris Nolan for Batman. I fear Superman isn't going to fair so well.

Just put the Williams theme in it, and it'll be fine.

No Williams score for this film. This needs to be a new, fresh interpretation. It needs to be its own beast.

That would be some what of a start. You never mess with that score. Its Superman's score for ALL TIME.

Don't you think it's time for a new Superman movie to be it's own.....without ties to the past?

Yeah Williams score is iconic but just like Elfman's Batman score, should be left to those films. A different energy is needed.

Yeah, I want a new theme. And I want Michael Giacchino to score it!

I agree - new score for a new take and a new direction. Those are damn big shoes to fill though - following in John Williams' footsteps. That score of his is synomonous with Superman.

It's the Donner Superman Movies' score for all time. There's no binding law that it has to be for every other Supeman movie from now on....and it'd be nice for the new movie to have its own cinematic identity...including the cinematic score.

The score is timeless. Past, present, future.

Yes....it is. It's a great and wonderful piece of music. But that doesn't mean it has been ordained by God that William's score shalt be used in all Superman movies for ever more.

I am kind of dissapointed. I have no desire to see Zod as the main villain. I would have thought given how visually stunning Snyders movies tend to be and his ability to go huge with CGI he would have gone with Brainiack.

You aren't losing it. It is with Donner's films, where the the comic movie legacy began.

A new interpretation of the character is being presented on the big screen, so we will now get a new score.

No loss, just gaining something else.

I'd also like the film and score to be completely different...so much so that Williams score wouldn't fit in it, and vice versa.

yeah its time to move on from the Williams Theme but if they did decide to use it I wouldnt mind.

As for those saying Shannon should have been Lex we can't guarantee he'd have been spot on for Lex he might not suit the way Lex will be potrayed in this movie.

It's a shame that we have to lose it.

I have it on album, tape, cd, and DVD. I won't lose it.

While im not happy wuth the selection of Zod,I could manage it if they choose Russian Zod.Thats the only version of Zod that exists that is radically different from Donners Zod.Not to mention he looks Badass.

Just imagine seing Cavill in a supermodernized suit looking all 2012-like and then hearing Williams' joyful 70's theme on top. The theme would be so malplaced it's not even funny and it would just ridicule itself completely. No thanx to that scenario. The theme was also buried with Reeve IMO.

Maybe Zod......IS....Lex....

:wow:

The STAS theme by Shirley Walker was different enough to make it its own beast, yet still had some inklings of Williams' score.

Exactly. The Williams score was obviously iconic, but so was Elfman's Batman score. You can't truly reboot a property like this and stick with the theme. Heck, the Animated Series had a different theme, that certainly felt like Superman to me.
