I don't really get how Zod wasn't threatening. Everyone says he was campy anymore, but I'm not surprised with how people like to compare the Donner Superman movies to the 60s Batman series.

I think Lex, Lois and all the Metropolis characters have minor, secondary supporting roles as earlier reported.

The Krypton stuff is like the main focus IMO.

He's still a villain, which was my point.

He's probably going to be the strongest performance of this film I have a feeling.

...do you not get that Snyder will be handling this film differently than the other Superman films? Cavill has already stated that this is a re-imagining of Superman. Snyder said that they're proceeding as if there had been no Superman films before this. the casting is tons more inspired that the previous films, and even the women who have been rumored for the role of Ursa are all BLONDES (the original Ursa had black hair). it's quote obvious to me that they won't be portraying Zod the way Donner and Terrance Stamp did.

now i've got to ask those who dislike the idea of Zod in this movie, do YOU understand that?

do you understand that we want a new vilalin that was not used in previous movies? do you understand that in 2011 we have technology for every villain from the comcis?

zod is not the only villain who could be used for this story...fact.

And I really didn't think that this was the kind of story they were going to tell... I know I know, shouldn't assume the storyline just because Zod is the villain...

WHY Zod.... I'm just finding this really hard to digest, and i'm trying not to let it completely ruin the movie for me... but Zod is the main villain?

The movie just got a lot less exciting for me...

Can anyone please try and convince me that this is not the end of the world. I really wanna stay in my loved up happy state I was in a few hours ago with this film...

That being said, I still believe "Zod" is just a pretense for another villain. I do think Shannon could play an incredible Brainiac too.

Shanon will be amazing as Zod though. I have only seen him in Boardwalk Empire (great show by the way) and he is amazing. So I feel that we will get a great Zod out of him. And one hell of a conflict.

It's pretty amazing that every person cast so far minus Cavill has been nominated for an Oscar at one point. Excellent casting so far IMO. I think Shannon could steal the show.

And yes, Superman:Last Son's Zod was based off Donner.

I think as Dorky and others said, I think too many have Zod from Donner's films stuck in their heads.

I'm stoked to see where they go. Since this is a re-invention we are going to have another origin story. I don't want to see Brainiac or Metallo shoved into an origin story just so we could have them. I'd rather the sequels have them where they can be fleshed out.

Someone told me this WASN'T a full blown origin story, so now it suddenly is?!

I wanted to see Braniac because he's never been done properly in live action (he was in Smallville but not the comic book version).

I would be excited with Zod if they do a VERY different version than we've seen before. I mean it was only last season of Smallville where Zod was the main villain. Things are gonna have to be different.

When did he lie? they asked him about Zod, he said its "just rumors" He didnt confirm nor deny anything. He has basically confirmed nothing except that Viggo is not in the movie.
