I'm perfectly fine with Zod as the villain (mainly because I'm confident it'll be totally different from the Donner version we've gotten), and I love Michael Shannon, so I'm marking yet another one down on the win column here. A great addition to an already impressive cast. Snyder's on a roll!

I concur.

God I hope dearly that Nolan/Goyer/Snyder are going to give us a Kryptoninan backstory at least half as epic as what Robin posted.

Let me just say that Latino Review has actually been pretty good with the snippets of news in regards to Man of Steel. I remember some time ago they said they were pretty sure about Brainiac's involvement.

Hope that is still the case.

Here is a link to Latinos original report regarding Goyer being hired to write and other news making the rounds. They originally said Luthor would be involved and so would Braniac.

Looks like a surfing hero from the 70's gettin' ready to show these young tikes how it's done. :awesome::cwink:

He is sure is on a roll. 5 for 5 with when it comes to the great casting for this Supes film. They are not even done yet with the casting either. Plenty more to come. :word:

so krypton will clearly be a big part of the film...

Krypton could have been a big part with Brainiac used for the mythology though. Oh well, for all we know Nolan will use a twist and this Zod will be Brainiac or something lol.

I'm sure in the movie he'll be called Dru-Zod instead of just General Zod. Just a hunch.

Zod is Kal-El's real father.

Yeah...I said it....

Zod to Superman:

"I AM YOUR FATHER"

Superman "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO."

John Williams then gets confused and score goes back and forth between Superman and Starwars.

They did it on Smallville! They had Terence Stamp on the show as the voice of Jor-el instead of Zod! I thought it was a trick or something, but it turns out it was just a BAD IDEA!

I am so mad.

Shannon was the perfect Luthor.

If Luthor is in this film, and he interacts with Zod, I'll just be thinking "Zod should be Luthor"

So mad.

I think any Luthor will have a hard time topping Jeff Bridges in Iron Man. :O

Nope. We need a more charismatic Luthor. His face is better suited for Zod. No doubt his acting for Lex would have been fine though. If there is truth to Viggo involved, he could play the type of Lex I'd like to see. I'm happy Shannon was cast in a role, but more happy it isn't for Lex.

Yeah, but in my version, Zod pulls the ol' in-utero-switcheroo on Lara with his own genetically-enhanced DNA, as part of his super-soldier program.

As incredibly impossible as this would ever be, I would actually laugh my a** off and plop down an additional 8 bucks to see it again. I would forgive the entire movie for that awesomeness.

Instead of "kneel before Zod", we'll have a new generation of taglines, like "In Like Zod"....or "In Before The Lock".

Shannon is waaaay too fugly to have an offspring as good looking as Cavill.

You can just mirror real life...in which butt-fugly rock stars marry supermodels, and their 'beauty gene' takes over when they have a kid...a la Steven Tyler's daughter. So just make Lara a babe.

Zod in general was not necessary imo. I understand they will use him differently/reinvent. It's just that with Brainiac, Lex, Metallo, Darkseid, even Doomsday in some capacity were all worthy villains that could be used. I just don't think Zod was needed if we are moving away from Donnerland completely. With that said, we have to accept it and I have no doubt it will be done in a way less corny than on previous film/tv series.

Seeing as Zod is in the film, it kinda takes me back to synder's recent interview in which he said that the story will be approached as if the Donner films never happened . At the time I assumed that it meant that they might go for a villan like Metallo who hadn't be used yet, but I guess he meant a character like Zod was fair game because they were creating the story without being beholden to what came before. If that's the case, I'm cool with Zod since he is imo one of Supes best opponents. If they were taking the Singer SR approach of being slavish to the Donner films I'd be more concerned.
