It would be interesting if they had a villain that carried throughout the series and who ultimately goes down in the last film. Ideally I'd like that to be Lex but Brainiac could pull that off.

One of the guys over at Latino Review tweeted a while back that Brainiac was definitely going to be in the movie, but it's possible he was reading an old draft of the script or was given bad information. This was way back before Shannon (and even Cavill, I think) was cast, so it might not mean anything now, but it's worth considering.

I had a theory a while back that Brainiac might be introduced as a Kryptonian computer with AI that eventually evolves and either takes humanoid form or "takes over" Zod and he becomes the green-skinned, spore-headed creep we all know and love.

That mysterious blue beam that was briefly shown being shot in the teaser reminded me of Brainiac.

Zod is really an obvious villain for a Superman origin film. He's a heck of a physical, emotional and spiritual/cultural threat, with immense potential, but its not throwing Superman up against his greatest foe in Lex Luthor right away. I'm thrilled.

Lex is his arch-nemesis, and what he doesn't have in strength he makes up for in intelligence... But, compared to Darkseid? He's also proven to be a worthy adversary to Superman in the past. When it comes to his greatest foe I'm not sure between the two of them.

I think ultimately Lex Luthor is his greatest foe. It's more about personal issues with those two than anything. Darkseid just views him as someone else to grind under his heel, and hates that he's as close in power to him as he is.

I wouldn't considering that the chances of them successfully getting a JLA film off the ground, let alone having it come off as successful and well received are very very very very slim imho. I would rather allow Superman to take him on in his own film.

Totally agree, Zod is a great Superman villain in many ways. Just because he has been used within cinematic Superman (being great too) before shouldn't invalidate him or his potential as a character.

But I guess it's the same people complaining about the origin being done again.

Thats true, but I could say the same for say Dr Doom in the Marvel universe(who is Fantastic Four's main enemy but has many times fought just about every Marvel character). I usually associate Darkseid with Superman first and foremost then as a enemy of the DC Universe as a whole second.

I don't think zod gonna be 8 feet and fully cgi.zod got 2 suits in this movie.one is armor from his neck down and not fully cgi unlike that guy that was standing beside faora.zod also got a suit that look just like superman suit.the only difference is zod suit is black and have a difference emblem on the front.
