The Official Michael Shannon IS General Zod - Part 2

Just like Superman, his villains struggle with consistency.

How would you like Zod to look?

I dont want to see boring old one piece leather suits. It seems to be the go to costume when they dont have an already pre existing one.

I was thinking it might be cool if they get their clothing from someone in the military.
Could be a military jacket and hat over his alien pants.

just brain storming.

Anything but disco wear or an M. Bison uniform.

I prefer the armor look... Jim Lee's design was my favorite (I don't care if everyone else hates it... I thought it was damn cool!) and even the Russian Zod armor wasn't bad (although I don't want the actual Russian Zod on film). I think why I like the armor so much though is it keep Zod from looking boring and ordinary, which is what I'm afraid he'll look like if they just do the generic black leather thing like you said.

I wouldnt mind seing the russian armor on the big screen. I want a very imposing Zod, but not necessarily evil looking. At least not at first.

They could also show him in something not too far from Superman's suit. A customized war-version of kryptonian suits. Slightly modified of course and in different colors. Just as long as it isnt black.

Yeah, something like the suits that the bad guys wear in the pseudo-Kryptonian invasion in Birthright would be cool.

since zod is a general, i'd like to see him dress like a fighter... apparently if they have generals in krypton, they have military as well, so its a place very similar to earth, they look alike and have the same problems... if you are in the military, you'll want to be protected from enemy fire. so he should be looking rather armored especially since on earth he'd be fighting someone as strong as him... he wouldn't fight in the military un-armored so why would he fight someone thats as strong as him hand to hand without anything else to protect him? if you were in the military and had protective equipment, wouldn't you use it if you were going to burst into a new "environment" (like say a house) and take on people having who knows what in there?

i'd like to see a kryptonian military armor that looks sort of like that of the predator

How about they merge the background of the Russian Zod and Kryptonian Zod together to create a nnew fresh Zod that satisfies all.

For example have Zod arrive on earth, secretly take over Pokolistan and build it up to a russiane mpire whilst hiding his identity or existence from the world. He reveals himself when Superman arrives to throw a wrench in his plans

How he will arrive on Earth?
Will it be in public or secretly?

Should he act really different to humans?

I would really like for them to have the villain feel like a cross between the bad Terminators and Javier Bordems Anton Chigurh in 'No Country F.O.M'

Yeah, this has to be done differently and not just the typical destruction-trying-to-take-over-the-world-from-the-get-go.
If they go this route they better make it interesting and to the point. I would demand an extraordinarily spectacular ass-kicking invasion-sequence.

But I would prefer that he came "in peace" and slowly tries to convert humanity while seeking support from Kal-El.
Then learning about his new powers as well as seing humanity being reluctant, he should force himself onto the human race.
I hope he'll be made relatable and that we understand and feels why he does what he does, like Loki in THOR only without being a drama-queen about it.

well at least have an explanation for how he learned to speak english if indeed he will speak english... i do not want to see any kryptonians speaking english again... how ethnocentric is that anyway that all characters from even another world speak english

Yeah, they definitely have to address that. That was one of the only things that bothered me a bit in Thor, but I let it go since you could (possibly) make an argument that the Asgardians, through their interaction with Earthlings over the years, could have adopted some of their languages (or vice versa). Still, that would be a stretch, since these are the Norse gods and would be more likely to speak in ancient Scandanavian languages, if anything.

It is a bit cliche now but i always have enjoyed the scene where the being from "out of space" watches a television show or movie and adopts that characters talking style.

But i dont think i would like to see such an un original idea used.

If they are arriving via a controlled space ship then i imagine they would be able to listen into our broadcasts and learn the language as they approach Earth

Absolutely, an interesting (and realistic) twist would be that Zod and co. spoke mostly in kryptonian. That would make them all the more creepy and imposing and surely, they would not degrade themselves by speaking our language anyway.

Should they do so, then sure, they could've studied the languange and I assume they would have to if they wanna adress the nations.

Interesting to see how they're gonna tackle this.

I SINCERELY hope there'll be some outta-the-box thinking on these kinda details.

i liked the Earth One explanation... they took 10 mins to study the multiple languages and dialects of the earth to be able to communicate and the villain suggested earth should adopt a single language

Hey, if Antonio Banderas can learn an entire language just from sitting with some Vikings at a campfire for a couple of hours, I have no problem believing that a society as advanced as the Kryptonians could learn all of earth's languages in 10 minutes.

I'd like it if they gave Zod a more legitiment reason for his actions, I mean think about it, he's a well respected soldier who's dedicated his whole life to the protection of krypton and is unable to save it, then he arrives on Earth, a planet inhabited by beings that look exactly like his race, surely he'd see it as a miracle or second chance, and maybe when he see's how self destructive humans are, he decides that he has to use his powers to "save" them from themselves, by taking over the world and forcing humanity to lead a different path. This could be a nice twist on the zod/superman dynamic :he and superman could be at odd's over how to save the world.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Whatever they do, I just hope they don't portray Zod as one-note as he was in the older films. He didn't really come off like a general-gone-bad to me... he always just seemed more like someone that was a career criminal.

Dare I hope that they'll actually make him this nuanced and interesting.
I dare...

Why is Zod as strong if not stronger than Superman?

Is he confused by these powers he now has?

Nice. You did a great job capturing the likeness to Shannon.

Are the eyes purple? They really stand out.
