yea i want to see rich, powerful, businessman lex with his hand in all the shady things going on in metropolis and then have characters like metallo/brainiac/etc.... the actual physical threats to supes.

Superman movies need Lex Luthor IMO, he is a quintessential villain in the DC universe, and should be included in some way.

You can look at it this way. Batman Begins was fairly successful without the Joker, but Dark Knight was through the roof with the Joker. Does Luthor equal the Joker in Superman's rogue gallery?

I think so too. It may get old seeing Lex after a while, but not in the right hands. If it could be done well, I wouldn't be disappointed seeing him with Superman again.

But Superman Returns did have Luthor and people didn't flock to it. I understand what you are saying Show but I don't think it is the same thing for that very reason. Luthor is a hugely popular villain but I think that the Joker is way bigger and I would have said the same thing before TDK.

I wouldn't cry if a serious Lex were in a new Superman movie but I wouldn't cry if he weren't.

Geez, I really hate that the last filmmaker makes me not want Lex in a Superman movie. I mean he is a great villain when he isn't the Gene Hackman version.

well maybe if sr didnt have silver age/donnor lex after realstate and made him the rich powerful corupt businessman lex we never seen on the big screen it could be different.

I cant begin to tell you how disappointed I was with SR Lex. Lex can be a terrific villain when well written and I would love to see him done justice. He was the same movie verse Lex. Full of camp and a yawn and a half. And as I recall i have seen his 1970's plot before. This was just on a much wider scale. Same goals and such a lame confrontation between villain and hero. Never has a villain cried extreme makeover. Update this guy please. He is very essential to Superman when we are not getting the heavy hittin alien class of villains.

i disagree. i LOVED spacey as lex. I think he did a PERFECT job. matter of fact i found myself waiting for more lex every time spacey wasnt on screen.

Spacey was excellent, it was his dialogue and his plot that was dumb.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the cast for SR was great, if not perfect, but their roles were what ruined the film.
