I want Lex's humor to come from how cunning he is; not from him trying to kiss Zod's butt.

It's a good thing Lex doesn't kiss Zod's ass. Zod might fart as soon Lex kiss his ass. Can you imagine how strong a fart from a Kryptonian like Zod smell like?

when its benn stuck in "the ohantom zone" oh god, bin laden would have to come out of his cave!

Zod needs just to appear in a Kryptonian flashback as a general who was manipulated by Brainiac, and only serves as a bodyguard to challenge Superman.

no, he should be shown as a general who disobayed the council, or made "disproved" jor-el, and escaped with some lackies into the pz, moments before krypton blew

I thought a good twist for Zod would be as follows:

Because of the BRAIN Interactive Construct built by Kryptonian scientists, war, famine and disease on the planet have been eradicated leaving a Utopian society. The Construct had also taken over planetary defense and Kryptonian scientists along with the governing council decided to share this technology with neighboring systems to help protect against common enemies. One common enemy mainly, the planet Apokolips and it's brutal ruler Darksied, were rendered harmless to any planet wielding the kryptonian tech.

The tech also rendered great Kryptonian warriors who had protected the planet in decades past useless. Warriors like General Zod. These warriors were given positions among local and planetary governing bodies as figure heads and in some cases like Zod ambassador titles. This disgusted some like Zod who's lives were dedicated to the Kryptonian military and who craved war.

Zod eventually ended up as the Kryptonian Ambassador to Apokolips. Darkseid had agreed to this after five years of silence and had finally announced a new era on his planet and called for his greatest adversary from Krypton to observe the changes. Bringing Zod closer to him, Darkseid began to work on the General's hatred of the BRAIN Interactive Construct and powers that created and approved it's use over his military.

Darkseid, through an intricate web of seduction, was able to turn the General against his own planet. Armed with an Apokolips engineered virus, Zod traveled back to Krypton and rounded up a few of his most loyal subservients to help undertake the dastardly deed of corrupting the Construct.

When this actually happens Zod is discovered by Jor El and arrested along with his remaining cohorts. The virus was thought to shut down the planetary defenses and allow for an attack by Apokolips but it appeared to be caught in time. Unfortunately this was not the plan and the virus was not caught in time. The Virus, by design, created BRAINiac and BRAINiac eventually destroyed the planet via the thermo-core wells that supplied Kryptons power.

I think this can be as brief as possible in the beginning of a first film and then we wouldn't see Zod and the gang again until a second or third film. We would also not have to see Darksied or Apokolips at all here. It could all be explained in different ways so that the audience understands what transpired.

I like the Darkseid approach my self, and that pic is pretty cool.

For a reboot, Lex should be present and we know he's up to something, but...we don't see anything he does. Organizations such as Intergang could also be present but I suppose they would end up leading to Darkseid and I guess we don't want to see him too soon. Metallo or Parasite would be the best minor villians who work for a big leaguer like Lex (most likely) or Brainiac. We should probably start with threats from the homeland before we take the step to outside threats.

You know you are one of the first people I've heard say this and I totally agree. I believe we should see a few potential major villains and get a set up... like BRAINiac, Zod and Darksied. All that in the first movie but as for Superman's main villains in MOVIE 1 I think Bruno Mannhiem and Intergang along with John Corbin. All with no relation to Darkseid. AND Lex should be there from the first movie, as you said doing bad things but not getting caught.

I also think that Lex Lutor shouldn't be Superman's arch enemy until later films. I think Lex should be Clark's arch enemy and as a reporter Clark persues and pushes to try to bring the guy out in the open.

That sounds like a pretty good idea i wouldnt be against seeing it on the big screen.

1: Luthor & Parasite (small)
2: Luthor & Bizarro
3: Luthor & Metallo
4: Brainiac & Luthor (small)
5: Darkseid
6: Doomsday

I think a small group of villains that wouldn't be able to carry the film themselves working for Lex would be good. I already have a sort of scene where Superman is trying to bring in Luthor, and they start showing up. Then Lex is all:"Oh, you thought you where the only one with powers?"

I'm thinking Livewire, Parasite, Silver Banshee, and maybe Terraman.

And though they'd never do it...I think Toyman could carry his own, in a "Joker in Batman 89" kind of way.

1st Film= Braniac
2nd Film= Metallo. Except that the kryptonite radiation suit doesnt emitt enough radiation to drain all of Superman's powers. Just his invulnerabilty
3rd Film= Darkseid or Mongul

But of course Luthor would be in all the films

If I could create a trilogy it would be as so:
1st Movie:
Introduce Krypton, Jor-El etc. Have Brainiac steal Kandor. Have Krypton in panic, and when the council falters, Zod comes in, stating that a powerful race like the Kryptonians cannot have faltering among their ranks and claims leadership. He gets sent to the Phantom Zone. Krypton explodes when the planets stability is compromized by the removal of Kandor.
Brianiac is the main villain, attempts the same thing as on Krypton. Luthor kisses his ass in order to benefit from the advanced technology but has no direct involvement with Superman, other than to claim his hatred for him. Movie is finished with Superman defeating Brainiac, Luthor getting Brainiac tech, and the restoration of Kandor on the moon.

2nd Movie:
The restoration of Kandor has major implications now that there are plenty of Kryptonians around. The phantom zone is opened when Zod's armies discover that Zod had been imprisoned there. He emerges and claims control over Kandor. He wages war against Kal-El since his father was responsible for sending him there. Except instead of three Kryptonians, there is an army. Luthor gets involved, having developed anti-Superman weapons using the brainiac tech and pieces of kryptonite discovered. The kryptonians of kandor are deemed too dangerous by Earth and beg Lex Luthor to help them. Using Brainiac tech, he reshrinks Kandor and kills the remaining Kryptonians. He then destroys the bottle city. Superman is devastated since the last of his kind were murdered infront of him by Luthor. He now has a mortal enemy. Lex Luthor is venerated by the people of earth.

3rd Movie.
Riding on the fame of destroying Kandor, Luthor has become President and gets the world to turn on Superman as he is a kryptonian. The people love Lex and go along with it. He has his own agenda, and in the background, has developed the green power suit using pieces of kryponite and Brainiac tech. He has also created Metallo as a test for using Kryptonite as a power source for the suit. The movie has Superman vs Metallo and perhaps another villain. In the end, there is a grand showdown where Lex's true colors are revealed, he becomes reviled by the world, and He and Superman throw down in his Iron Man-like power suit. Lex is defeated and imprisoned.

I am of the firm belief that although Lex doesn't have to be the main villain, he is unlike other villains in that he is a member of the supporting cast and hence he should always be around, scheming and plotting. He should be the ultimate challenge for Superman in his final movie since he is Superman's arch nemesis and ultimately his biggest threat.

I wouldn't mind seeing Parasite, Bizarro, or Doomsday in a movie either.

Welling looks kinda weird edited on the old suit, but the guy did an excellent job with the villains.

Yea have enjoyed alot of the trailers wormy made over the years.

Please,no more Luthor as a main villian in Superman movies,he's really boring IMO. I wouldn't mind him as a minor villian in one more. Darkseid,The Cyborg(Hank Henshaw Superman),Doomsday or Brainiac, etc would be my choices for one or two new villians in the reboot. I've never been a fan of Lex Luthor.

I have to disagree with you there, to me Luthor is as important to Superman as Lois, Perry or even Ma Kent. He brings the series down to Earth, to me anyway. Someone who is jelious, and hungry for power, a human trait not shared by the Kryptonian.

That, and Luthor is a great villain, imo.

Although I am not a big fan of Superman,I understand he is to him what Joker is to Batman,I just can't stand his movie self so far for the most part.
